I loved this place. My boyfriend brought me here on a nice date and it was the perfect spot. The food was so delicious and decentish price, not great but not bad.
I loved the atmosphere and our server was great. I wish the music was not so loud though, it's a pain
Can't emphasize how great the food was. I loved the flavours

Came here for dinner and the food was delicious! We got the carpaccio (9/10), the hummus (7.5/10) and the chicken (8.5/10) and shared that between two medium hungry people. The chicken was pretty big, so I ended up taking some home. I also liked the vibe in this place. It’s classy without being pretentious. We sat at the bar and made friends with the bartender and he was so sweet and kept coming back to chat with us and give us recommendations. I also love the espresso martini they made me that said “welcome to New York”. They could also do the writing for someone’s birthday, which I thought was so fun! I am actually going back there for my birthday, because the place looked well suited for bigger groups too.

The atmosphere is nice and inviting, clean.
I guess they dont get too many 1 top walk in's for lunch because the 1 host pretended I didnt exist and continued his conversation at the bar while a manager acknowledged me and sat me....
Service was polite and promt.... however they didnt have a printed bourbon list so I just went off the 2 or 3 she could remember......
The bread with the oil is kinda played out... especially when the bread isnt warm and thus the thick crusted sourdough isnt enjoyable ..... and the oil was bland nothing fancy or amazing....
Warm shimp salad was amazing. Great flavors and textures and portion was generous.... 10/10 would suggest this dish
The chicken sandwich with the crispy onions and Avocado was very pleasant and substantial very tasty sandwich but needed a little kick/seasoning it was lacking any umph but still tasty 8.5/10.
Check was ridiculously expensive but I tipped well because I know this place has been going through some changes & the lovley waitress did her best.

This was a great restaurant and I really appreciated the food much more than the atmosphere. It's a large restaurant but people are seated so close together that it felt cramped. That said the food was really good. We started off with an appetizer of artichoke cooked perfectly the sauce that accompanied it was absolutely delicious. I went with somebody who is vegetarian and they ordered sides and absolutely love them. I on the other hand ordered chicken fettuccine and mushroom and it was probably the best I've ever had. it was priced on the high side but worth the money. it's best to have reservations to be able to get in there was a bit of a wait. they also have a well-stocked bar and I saw open seats there so whether you're waiting to sit down or just to go in and have a drink it looked very nice.

An incredible restaurant. They have a nice seating area and very fun and casual vibes. E went there for brunch and the ambiance, service and food was all perfect!
Highly recommend the truffle pizza which we got as appetizers. I had the omelette and while it wasn’t anything special, it was well made. My friends got the burger and chicken sandwich. They said the chicken sandwich was meh, so give it a pass. I stole their fries and they were the best tasting fries I’ve had at any restaurant.
In terms of drinks, the bellini is a nice light drink. I got the white Negroni (it’s expensive but is a serving for two people ) which was really really well made.
All the desserts were out of the world. We tried the passion fruit meringue tart, chocolate cake, and My favorite was the toffee pudding. Highly recommend.

Celebrated my friend’s bday in The Mercer Kitchen. Food was amazing as usual. My friends were sharing their food so they split the dishes already which was sp thoughtful and cute . Every we order was great. There are vegetarian and vegan option and they’re very mindful of allergies and dietary restrictions which I really appreciate. I go the salmon and friends took the sea bass loved it. Our waitress Luba gave an outstanding service and she made sure we an amazing night. The only downside was that they seated us upstairs (indoors) so we missed the entire vibe of this restaurant. Since I dined there in the past I can say it much nicer downstairs so make sure to specify it when you make the reservation.

Lunch was full of pleasant experiences, chill vibes and even better food.
My buddy suggested this place after a long morning trail and we decided to take a drive into the city. He actually never dined downstairs (where you have to make reservations for) and I personally have never dined here before, so we were in for a treat.
The ambiance was light and intimate. The natural lighting sets a beautiful tone and gives a great open feel all while still being "underground".
The staff is friendly, prioritizes properly and professionally courteous. The fire times of the kitchen we're faster than I thought to be honest. Typically I would like the meals paced, but we were starving and requested it to come out all at once, so it worked out perfectly in the end ~
I had the Plant-based Mercer Burger. It is super rich in flavor and gets better per bite. The non dairy Pepper Jack Cheese melts in your mouth and the texture holds its own as it would of an actual cheeseburger. Although I would say, definitely save some room for dessert because that Carrot Cake with a freshly brewed Cappuccino is something else.
I don't know about dinner, but it's quite the place for a nice lunch with a friend.

You can reserve a party or the whole restaurant. There are menu lunch specials periodically, the menu changes are seasonal and there are kids hamburgers, chicken offerings and hand crafted pizzas. This is a active restaurant where both families/friends and people of interest dine( brunch is offered on the weekends ).

Great experience, everyone there is nice and thoughtful, the food is really good. Breakfast starts from 7:30 am -10:30 am, downstairs opens at noon. I added a update on the breakfast menu I took a photo of.

What I liked the most here was the fish. I had a steamed fish entree that was excellent. Fresh and healthy and tasted incredible. Don’t miss having something sweet after the meal. It’s worth it. Reservations are helpful for dinner time in mid or late week.

I love this place, I’ve been here many time and the food it’s always super tasty delicious and fresh, amazing atmosphere and decor, the staff is always super professional and attentive. Highly recommend if you’re in the SoHo area.

Mercer Kitchen is a great upscale neighborhood restaurant in SoHo. Great food, great service and top quality food. It's everything you'd expect from a celebrity chef establishment but at much more reasonable prices. I always recommend Mercer Kitchen to friends visiting NYC and it never disappoints.

I really enjoyed my time at the bar .. the atmosphere is so ambient and relaxing ! Ok let's start with the service, the bartender by the name of Luba was so attentive and literally recommended the perfect wine for me I'm very picky she was very knowledgeable when it comes good wine & she knows what she's talking about !! I Genuinely appreciate that and will def be back to see what else she recommends you don't come across that very often so I really appreciated that!! Now let's get down to the truffle Pizza this has to be the most amazing truffle pizza the city has to offer and I've been around to many restaurants!!

The perfect place for American kitchen and casual drinks. It has an elegant vibe and an open kitchen. Food was overall good but was definitely expecting more of their truffle pizza. The flavor was too overwhelming because of the truffle salt (was expecting truffle shavings) and wish it balanced out better with other ingredients. The drinks were beautiful as well as the service. Nice place for group gatherings.

Great restaurant. Found this restaurant accidentally, on our way. lunch time, We sat on the bar, because we had no reservation . the restaurant was very busy, but we had very good service , great food , the hamburger was delicious. very nice atmosphere downstairs.

I am a huge fan of Mercer Kitchen. Clean food specially their crispy salmon.. it’s one of my all time favorite! Great dim light and a spot to enjoy for sure!
Zosia Baroody
This is my go-to Soho spot. They are allergy friendly and very accommodating.
The shrimp salad is top 3 salads I’ve ever had in my life, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t usually enjoy shrimp. (It’s so good that they posted the recipe online)
The fries are thin and crispy, and I love that they are served in a pot. Honestly you can’t go wrong with the menu. Everything is great.
Jonathan Paul
The food here is amazing. I was with a group of about 16 people so it was a set menu. I had the pear salad, veal, and butterscotch pudding. All were amazing and the restaurant has a really cool vibe. Open concept kitchen is a nice touch.
I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately they screwed up our dessert order. Basically they served myself and brother dessert but forgot about everyone else. Just over and hour after we got our dessert the rest of the group got theirs. Not a huge issue as we were in no rush, but I feel it cost them a star, maybe even a star and a half. As I wasn’t paying I can’t complain too much.
I would definitely go back though. As I said, the food was great, the service just ended in a bit of a bad note.

This quintessential backyard burger in the basement of a hotel is delicious. The fries are great too.
Ambiance ✔️
Service ✔️
Surely recommend.

Mercer Kitchen was also a place that was recommended back home. It has a cool ambiance but the food was not very special as far as I remember. I did not like their metallic tables.
Siddik Hameed
Cool restaurant, good ambiance, great staff. The food was very good but not to die for.
Recommend the roasted Maine Lobster and the sea scallops.
Honeywhatscooking
The most amazing Black Truffle Fontina Cheese Pizza.. I have no words!
Also loved the Lychee Bellini, Warm Chocolate Cake, and Butterscotch Pudding!

Came here with my friends. Great ambience. LOVELY staff.

We felt the food was overpriced.
I ordered the Mercer burger.
A friend ordered the angel hair pasta and another the turkey burger (which was reasonably priced).
We also shared the sashimi sushi which we all agreed was amazing!!!! But again $20 for about 5 small pieces of sushi is crazy.

If you're willing to pay for service and ambience, go for it. But you can get the same kind of good food for a lower buck.

I dined at The Mercer Kitchen a number of years ago and it was a restaurant that I had always wanted to return to and I finally got around to it earlier this year. Located at the Mercer Hotel in Soho, this Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant was quite the buzzy celebrity hotspot when it first opened in 1998 and for a number of years after. The swanky bi-level space designed by Christian Liaigre, features exposed brick walls, long banquettes, communal tables and a partially open kitchen which gives it a contemporary industrial feel. The market driven menu makes use of seasonal ingredients in dishes that range in style from American to French to Asian fusion. The last time I ate here we had the most amazing tuna with crispy sushi rice. I was disappointed that it wasn't on the menu anymore but they did have a version that was sashimi salmon with crispy sushi rice. This probably would've been delicious on it's own but the chipotle mayo really enhanced the flavors. We got the pizza with tender leeks, three cheese, prosciutto and black truffle and yukon potato soup with sweet onions, brussels sprouts and crisp chestnuts. The pizza was tasty but nothing special and there was barely a hint of black truffle. The soup had a nice mix of textures and flavors going on. For our entrées, we chose the buttermilk chicken milanese with endiive salad, honey mustard and crisp bacon and the crunchy roast skate with glazed mushrooms, green chili and mint. The chicken was definitely better seasoned and tastier than the skate which was crispy but bland. Since we were there during restaurant week, dessert was included in our meal but I honestly don't remember much or ate much of it since we were pretty stuffed by the time they arrived at our table. We got the almond cake with citrus sorbet and warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate cake was in the style of molten chocolate cakes. I've said this before but dessert is never a priority for me since I don't really eat sugar so it has to be something special to tempt me. Our service was somewhat friendly and mostly inattentive. There was a huge lapse in time between when they finally cleared our entrée plates to when dessert came out and this wasn't even acknowledged by the waitstaff. At most fine dining establishments, they would at least apologize for the wait. We also had to wait almost 10 minutes to be seated and caught an attitude from the hostess when we didn't want to sit in the dark corner in the recesses of the dining room. Not cool and not really impressed with the subpar service and underwhelming food.

Extremely overrated. They think and actually believe that they are a gift from Heaven. Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cosmopolitan place but I wasn't impressed. I only tried the avocado toast and honestly it was really tiny. I wish Mercer Kitchen would be more generous on that "brunch dish" (perhaps a side salad included would be nice, or more fulfilling bread?). My friends' French toast and Pancakes looked delicious but I think everything was a bit pricey for what it was.
Good address for dinner with nice atmosphere. The service was also ok. The pizza was delicious, but if you're so hungary, the portion is small.

We had a communal table and the service wasn't amazing, but wow, the mercer burger was insanely delicious! All the food around me looked great, but when most people speak of and order the burger, don't deflect! Yum!

Wonderful Breakfast. The French toast with caramelized apples was just right. I loved the coffee, and our server was a sweetheart!
It would be a pleasure to come here for another meal.

I am so so so disappointed in my experience here!!!!! We waited for a table while others, who came after us, who put thier names on the list... Were seated before us! We waited while others who came after us yet again, ate before us...& my food was not hot. Our drinks were great!! Other's food looked good but they are obviously not consistent in service! I would not go back, nor would I recommend others.

Good brunch/lunch spot in Soho. Very good food at reasonable prices, nice room to sit and talk. Service excellent. Probably not good fro families with young children.

Mercer kitchen. Cool trendy great place for a shopping in soho lunch break

The food was good but it was hot. I was sweating and it took an hour plus to get my food. Had to ask three times to get condiments. Overall I would not go there they don't seem to care!
Service was horrible!

Fantastic service, food and location. I came here for a late Christmas lunch and everything worked seamless on a busy day. All staff worked well together and the set menu was delicious. A staff member came to our table just prior to the dinner service and noted that the table was needed they asked us to move to the hotel lobby where they provided with chocolates and biscuits supplied free of charge it was a nice gesture.

The Mercer burger was very good. Do try the tuna pizza. It's like a sushi pizza. It may not sound like a good thing, but trust me, it was very good.

Food was great, however the service was far below NYC standard. Felt like we were a number not a guest.

Thrid time the charm. Recommended by one of the Sales Associates at Oliver People while we shopped for glasses. It did not disappoint. Great environment and food. The service was lacking a bit but we still enjoyed ourselves. If you happened to be at the bar try their bar almonds!

First time in New York, by far- BEST lunch. Menu was great. Salmon sushi is a MUST!

So good. The steamed shrimp starter salad was the best salad i have ever had in my life. i would live off of it if i could!

Had it to go. It was a burger. Would have been 1/4 the price at 5 Guys, but thought I'd try. Burger has some spicy components to it! Will be back to try more variety. Otherwise, expensive, but agreeable.

Great Mercer Burger!!!. One of the best burgers I have had called the Mercer Burger. You must try it! 4 people in our party and everyone loved their meal. Service on the other hand was poor!!
Hannahlovesfood
Really terrible food. My dining partners burger was so salty as to render it completely inedible. My scallop, lentil dish was boring, uninventive and swimming in vinegar. I was expecting to like Mercer Kitchen but was genuinely disappointed by the food.

Vegetarians beware.. I called ahead to this place to make sure they offered options for the vegetarian in our group. "No problem!" was the response, "we can accomodate anyone, just tell your server and our chef will create something special for you". I was so pleased, I made my reservation on the spot.

What actually happened was kind of sad.
When we told our waiter of our vegetarian request, we were offered "buttered noodles" or "cheese pizza" or "noodles without butter"... WHAT? The meat eaters are having Sea Scallops with pea green ravioli in bacon truffle viniagrette.... and the vegetarian gets buttered noodles? I find that really unimpressive for such a fancy restaurant. He's a vegetarian, not a 5 year old! Anti-meat not anti-flavor. My vegetarian brother in law was super nice and didn't want to complain, but I was pissed! What of the promise of some specially prepared vegetarian delight? Buttered noodles? You've got to be kidding me!
He ended up with a little cheese pizza that looked like a Pizza Hut personal pizza and a side of green beans for $9 - (just the green beans were $9, and there were about 9 of them. That's a dollar a bean, people!)
It was too bad. The dinner I got, (as a meat eater) was really good. I would highly recommend the shrimp salad. Vegetarians should stay away though. This place doesn't put any effort into accommodating you, no matter what they tell you beforehand on the phone.

Went for lunch, very impressed. Great fish, subtle creative and memorable food. Great service too. A quick lunch became quite an event.

Underwhelming, everything lacked seasoning :(

Better then most. A short walk from our Soho apartment, this place is a class above most in the area. The atmosphere is classy and the food is made to match. The staff were overly attentive, but it was a wet Sunday night and the place was only one-third full. The squid entree was excellent, although there was too much lime and not enough chilli in the dressing. The baked beetroot salad with goats cheese was my best dish of the night.
Take a date if you don't mind sharing the conversation with your neighboring diners.

Recent lunch was excellent love the space, service was great will retrn soon

I like thier breakfast and brunch. My favorite meals here are in the mornings in the lobby of a mid-day brunch. Lite fare and always satisfying.

Absolutely delicious fig prosciutto and mozzarella salad. Everyone at the table definitely enjoyed their meals. Lunch prices weren't outrageous - about $14. For cheesburger and fries. Cocktails overpriced at $14 for a lowball glass. Enjoyed the atmosphere w the brick glass and concrete.

Average. Very average for the price and given the reputation. Service was very poor.

The pizza was awesome! It was like eating a super bagel, and made for a super brunch. It was so unique in concept and the way the flavors all came together was delicious, despite the simple concept of the dish. My friends ordered goat cheese omelets served with rosemary potatoes, which they said were perfectly cooked, packed full of fresh goat cheese, and that the potatoes were very well seasoned. Overall, it was the perfect choice for catching up with old friends and starting a great day of traipsing around New York. I highly recommend trying Mercer Kitchen for brunch, or any meal, but definitely make a reservation! Mercer Kitchen on Urbanspoon
Eat A Duck
The meal was very tasty and everyone seemed to enjoy it, but I just felt like it lacked in creativity overall. The salmon app and tuna flatbread were bright spots in a somewhat uninspired menu. The flavors were all there, spot on, everything tasted great, but come on Jean, I know you can do better than this, don’t just give me a good burger, wow me! Knock my socks off, give me something I’d never expect, because what I DO expect out of you, Mr. Vongerichten, is to blow me away with your culinary artistry. While The Mercer Kitchen was a nice meal, and I would recommend it if you want to go have a nice lunch in SoHo, I feel like it should be running at a higher level than it is. Don’t get lazy Jean, I’ve got my eye on you.

To me the place was a little overpriced and didn't think was worth my money.
The Restaurant Fairy
Mercer Kitchen is Jean-Georges’ chic Soho eatery. Located in a basement space of the trendy Mercer hotel, the menu here tenders French-influenced new American fare. Dishes are generally market driven whilst some favorites remain on the menu all year around.

Nelson @ Soho: This restaurant has a very modern open feel even though most of the seating is in the basement. Pretty standard bread, but very fresh with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We started with the steamed shrimp salad with avocado, mushroom and tomato in a champagne vinaigrette. The shrimp were really buttery and tasted like lobster. The sauce had a bit of spice and a hint of alcohol with made this salad good overall. Someone else had the butternut squash soup with black trumpet mushrooms. It looks good. Kitty had the sea scallops, pea greens ravioli, smoked bacon vinaigrette. The elements of this dish taste well together. The scallops are obviously great to eat, but the portion was a tad small. Ok I guess since it's pretty rich. Other people tried the roast chicken with french beans, baby carrots and mashed potatoes as well as Barry's Wine's raw tuna and wasabi pizza. I can't comment on either as I didn't really try them. I can comment on what I had: Breast and confit of

March 6, 2012 When in doubt, Jean Georges. There are so many quality restauranteurs in Manhattan, but who else is as consistent as JG ? With restaurant week in full swing, the options for dinner on a Friday night were overwhelming. Too many options? JG. Mmmmmm. Mercer Kitchen has a modern open feel, something that brought a bit of amazement considering most of the seating is in the basement. This catacomb come culinary catalyst turns out simple, elegant fare as only Jean Georges can. Its just one of those restaurants that persists, as it should. Dining with a group of three, we took the opportunity to have one (1) order of the restaurant week menu ($35). The three-course prefix began with a black truffle and fontina cheese pizza, a dish small in size but so rich in flavor that it could serve as a light meal in itself, if only served with a side salad. For our entree selections, the prefix allowed us to sample an incredibly tender, organic roast chicken with mashed potatoes, French bean

This dark restaurant is predominately black but very nice. The bar downstairs is small but friendly although not the cheapest place in town. This is a haunt of trendies and stars so don’t be surprised to see George Clooney in here. Apparently when he was
