Moondog Cafe deserves the full 5 stars. What an amazing operation they have going on. I first found them as I was heading to Hemingway House. They are right next door. I decided to come back the next day for breakfast.
Got here at 10AM and wow they were packed! Who knew people would be lining up on a Sunday so early. Luckily they called our name within 5 minutes and we were taken to a back room. This made me realize this restaurant is pretty big! Right when you walk in, they have a display case of baked goods and refrigerated desserts and sweets. It looks like they also run to-go orders here as they have a cashier taking orders.
We sat down and were pretty impressed with their large selection of coffees. They even had Vietnamese coffee! Pretty cool. I got the cold lavender latte. It was a tasty coffee that had an aftertaste of lavender. Still not too sure about this because it's different but it was a good beverage.
We ordered 2 entrees and 1 bakery item - a chocolate croissant. That chocolate croissant is beautiful! Too pretty to eat. $5 for this croissant and I'd say it was well worth it. We also loved our entrees. We tried their brioche french toast and a traditional eggs benedict. WOW! All with so much flavor. Wish they were in my local hometown. Guess I'll just have to go back to the Keys.
With 2 entrees, 1 baked good, 1 coffee, and tip - our bill came out to $60 for breakfast for two. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat.

In the Keys for our anniversary. Came here for brunch. Seated outside, shaded, and waited on immediately. Got the Moondog Mary to start with. One of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve had. Had a little kick but not overpowering. We had the Mahi sandwich which was very tasty. Carrot cake for dessert was a huge slice. I’m so/so on the cake. It had a good taste and was very moist, but had a different taste from what I was expecting. Overall, a great place for lunch. Would come back here in the future. Nice clean restrooms.

Lovely spot for brunch! Our table on the porch was so cute. The eggs Benedict was delicious and the fresh pastries and cakes in the front were all gorgeous. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend!

So good we went back for more! This spot came highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. We first tried lunch there, enjoying the poke appetizer, two meals, and the bread pudding cheesecake (pictured). YUM! We loved it so much we went for breakfast the next day and savored the pesto mozzarella eggs Benedict and the stuffed Elvis French toast. I'll be dreaming of this place!

If you want to have an incredible experience in your palate you must try this place, they have a bunch of options for all the tastes and sorry for not taking pictures of my dessert but let me tell as soon as you step into this place you will see the most delicious display of dessert they offer and those are really good!
The service was excellent, our waitress Andrea was super nice and she gave us the best recommendations for food also she gave us tips about places tu visit in key west during our vacation, she was very helpful. The ambiance and vibes on this place is really nice and everything was really clean and this is something difficult to find in a busy place like that one. If you go to Key west don’t leave without visiting Moondog and if you want to have a 5 stars service ask for Andrea.

There is nothing to not love about the Moondog Cafe, from attentive servers, to freshly made juices for your mimosas, an in-house bakery, and a delightful food menu. You can't go wrong. Not on Duval Street, but still when we were leaving, there was a line to get in. Recommend missing the brunch hours, but not skipping this restaurant. My favorite thing was the fact that it is all about the history of Key West. So besides a great meal, you learn a few things.

Our first night in Key West we ordered pizzas to go from the cafe. They were delicious. They were ready quickly and fairly priced. We also went in for a quick bit for breakfast the other day and got breakfast drinks and pastries. They were good. The staff was attentive. I would like to go back one more time for lunch or dinner. Definitely recommend.

Wife and I went for breakfast. She had Quiche which she said was the best she ever had anywhere!
I had eggs, sausage, home fries and a bagel. Food was good but sausage bagel and home fries were not hot! Actually luck warm!
Service was great! I like that anyone can help and you don’t have to find your waiter for assistance.
I would definitely return but would ask that my breakfast food be hot!

wow! this is the perfect café! 1st class bakery, bar, great espresso, outdoor tree shaded sidewalk patio , and indoor dining in really an adorable space. Kudos to the owners and operators here.
very close to Hemingway house, one block or so away, and far more peaceful than the main drag of bars and restaurants

So, this place was on my list to try-but we were very full walking back to our studio- and picked up dessert to go-
Oh My Yum!
We decided on:
Pistachio eclair
Banana cream pie
Chocolate bomb
We shared with our hosts the next night- so so delicious.
I’m definitely planning a trip back and just have a light day of food- and come try another pastry of some sort!
My pictures do not do justice-!

Our dining experience at Moondog Cafe and Bakery was delightful and satisfying. The food was delicious. As a vegan, I highly recommend this place, especially because the menu offers a variety of options so that groups of people with diverse culinary preferences all have interesting and creative choices. I had the avocado and veggie salad with blackened tofu. It was packed with flavor. My mother had the grouper picatta (with white wine, tomato, capers, garlic and butter, homemade gnocchi and grilled asparagus). She loved it. For dessert, we enjoyed their vegan key lime pie, which was light, tangy, and creamy (but not too sweet). The service was excellent. Our server Shawn was charming, attentive, and efficient. He answered our questions and checked on us several times. We plan to eat there again.

Had the Elvis French Toast and it was delicious! Was worried it might be too sweet or too heavy, but it was neither. Somehow, they manage to balance out everything so you leave feeling satisfied, if not wanting another because it is that good. Tried both the lavender latte and the matcha honey almond milk latte, both were good but I did prefer the matcha latte.

Nice ambiance and service. We went there because it was recommended for their fish tacos. We did fish and shrimp tacos. Flavor and portions were very good, but the tacos started falling apart after the first bite. They have an extensive offer of cocktails, a lot of options with watermelon. Cocktails were just okay, though.

High quality, delicious food! We found this gem by accident and it ended up being our favorite place in Key West! Great service, laidback atmosphere, good music, tasty drinks, flavorful food, friendly staff. We could (and did) hang out here all day!

We ate here for brunch one day. The food was amazing-get the freshly made croissants! It’s a quaint little place with indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a little bakery, but unfortunately we were too full to imbibe!

Food was great. Freshcatch sandwich was one of the best things we had this trip. Our server jack was awesome too. Nice seating on the patio was perfect for the weather

A perfect out of the way restaurant located next to the Hemingway House. We had planned to try different breakfast restaurants in the area but found ourselves returning every morning for more "wonderful". Lunch and dinner were equally amazing and we can wait to visit again on our next trip to Key West!

The food is amazing at this place. My husband and I found this place by accident. This is definitely a hidden jewel in Key West. Very cozy, quaint restaurant. They make the best hot lattes! They also have a bakery with all kinds of desserts, including the famous key lime pie. We ended up eating where twice while we were visiting Key West, once for breakfast and one time for dinner. Very impressed with the service and the food! Try their red and white sangia! This is definitely a stop when visiting Key West. We will come back here to eat again!
