UPDATE: Still delicious and our go-to at least once a week. Cannot LOVE this place enough.
Small, quaint, family-run little hole in the wall. An absolute hidden gem.
Had the shrimp wonton noodle soup and it was exactly what I needed on this rainy day.
Parking available on the street.
Looking forward trying other items on their menu.
Looking for fresh fresh Vietnamese egg noodles called Mi? This is the spot!! This was so good I can’t stop thinking about it!
Got 2 bowls of mi, one with broth on the side and one with shrimp wontons, an order of shrimp wontons which were the best I’ve ever had-fried to perfection & stuffed w tons of shrimp! Also got the half fried chicken which was beyond crispy and juicy!! The flour rice pancake was delicious as well. Overall, such a great place, we will be back!
One of my favorite place to eat. Linh’s recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It is hard for me to rate them 4 star. All of their ingredients from noodle, pork bone broth, fish ball,.beef balls, are all fresh and delicious. And the food is very nice. However, I ordered a hu tieu nam vang (Cambodian noodle), soup aside, but the noodles didn't come out as original one, it does not have the minced pork sauce that I often get with Hu Tieu Nam Vang. Beyond that, the noodles and soup are great. So that is just my personal expectation with a specific dish. The waiter and cashier is very attentive and quick.
Came here for a late lunch with a friend and I have to say that I actually really enjoyed the food. Got #34 and the flour cake, both of which were really good.
~~Parking: There’s only metered street parking available ($2 per hour), but be careful not to park in the residential area that requires a permit.
~~Service: Prompt. They were fast to seat us, keeping an eye on us to know when we wanted to place our order and they were very kind when I paid the bill and asked for a to go box.
~~Best Part: The food. Honestly it tasted better than I was expecting. I was expecting a plain broth when I got the #34 order, but man it was packed with flavor!
~~Worst Part: Parking, but luckily I just had to make a couple of rounds. I think normally it’s fine but there were a lot of spots that were marked with a tow away sign.
~~Tips: Bring quarters to pay for the metered parking, but they do accept credit card as payment!
~~Return: Definitely would if I was in the area.
Nice food for our lunch, we have great food all times. Actually I love Chinese food therefore I am so excited and acknowledge about it! I always use my time to eat there with my friends with many choices.
But the big problems that we have here to being parking because they have no parking. You have to park on the stress with 5-6 space only with charged $2 for 1 hour.
One more about the place, it is on the corner of 3th stress and E San Salvador, so there are many students who always like me stop by to get food for lunch and dinner.
Customers from city hall is big deal to talk about, so if try to stop by you should get there soon don’t wait until 12pm to be there. You will get no tables and you will wait next your turn! :))
Absolutely delicious soups, with fresh noodles that are worth eating. The flavors are deep yet not overwhelming. The story behind the restaurant’s origin is both encouraging and endearing.
😸 Some people do delicate noodle pulls, I pull the whole bowl 😹. I had to get their famous Mi Sui Cao (shrimp wonton and egg noodle soup) and Fried Flour Cake with Egg. China Chen offers Authentic Chinese/Vietnamese flavors that makes you feel like you’re back at home. The portions are huge and the cost are inexpensive.
I drank about 1/4 of the soup to immerse myself into the broth and to appreciate the hard work in preparing the base of the dish. Then I had oodles of noodles. When I’m about half way done with broth and Noods, then I spank it with some sriracha and hoisin to switch up my taste buds.
Emptied the whole bowl into my belly. Definitely a place to try.
China Chen’s wonton soup cures what ails you. I had a cold, so got the shrimp wonton soup with thin noodles and extra broccoli. They packed it so nicely—wonton separated from the soup—that when I got home, the broth was still hot and the noodles and wonton were not soggy The shrimp were tender and the broccoli was perfect. Tasty! I’ll get two meals out of this, and my cold should be gone by morning.
I've been going to this restaurant forever, probably at least 30 years or so. If there's a place I would recommend anybody to come for a quick, simple, authentic Chinese bowl of noodle then this is it. From my first time to the bowl I had yesterday, it has been consistently good till the last sip. Please bring cash as it is the only form of payment accepted.
