The buffet service is nice and totally worth the money
A mix of vegetarian as well as non vegetarian dishes
The only thing missing was an Indian dessert

Had weekend buffet lunch from punjab cafe. They had rice, aloo gopi, Chana masala, rice roti, spicy potato dish for vegetarians. Above this they had chicken curry, goat curry, barbecue grill chicken, chicken masala. A sweet was provided.
This is the place for enjoying the unlimited buffet. All you can get for $7+tax. North Indian food that is good and cheap. Chicken curry. Paneer masala. Chicken tandoori. Chicken biriyani. Lamb curry. Just binge on.
Finally after searching in and out of San Jose, i found this as one of the best Indian restaurants that you can find over there..
I ordered Thali which said a gravy ,dal ,roti , rice and raita.. Assuming the thali to be a typical indian thali where gravy and dal comes in small bowls .. I ordered the food and to by surprise.. The gravy and dal were in such proportion that more than 2 ppl can have it ..
Food was waste little bit because of my wrong proportion but was really worth of the money and was delicious . At the end, there was desert "Kheer".. Sweet Nd Tasty ..

This restaurant is the best Indian restaurant in Downtown San Jose.
They are famous for their lunch and dinner buffets. As far as I know, only this restaurant offers a dinner buffet around downtown. The location is also convenient to reach but its a little tricky to spot the place.
I have had Al Carte and buffet here. I prefer Al carte as the taste better. The buffet menu is best when you're not sure what to eat. They have a couple of Non-vegetarian dishes in the buffet. The buffet menu varies, so call them up if you are planning to dine there.
This is one reasonably priced good indian outlet in sanjose. The items on the buffet spread were few. But whatever they had were tasty and fulfilling.
I consider this place as the best for Indian food in downtown San Jose. it works for me.

it is not Americanized Punjabi food but mild Punjabi food.

Today we had 1. Garbanzo Beans & Cucumber Salad. 2. Raita & Chutnies 3. Mix veg Pakoras 4. Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhni, Choley Saag, Mutter Mushroom as veg dishes. 5. Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken & Mutton (Goat) Curry 6. Kheer & Moong Dal Halwa.
Everything is above average. For this price, location and food, it has very little scope of any improvement left. They are opening a second branch at San Carlos and that should be good too.

Punjab Cafe (Indian). My search for a great, cheap, authentic Indian restaurant in San Jose has finally come to a long-awaited close. Punjab Cafe, located in the heart of the University District (if you can call the area surrounding San Jose State that) combines all three of my requirements in one tasty package. $10 entrees including the best of North and Central India can be found for dinner, while a rotating, exquisitely tasty gauntlet of formidable options presents itself for buffet lunches (and at only $8.99 a person). In the middle of the day, expect to see Goat Curries, chicken fresh from their Tandoor, and the best of the daily vegetarian offerings. Towards closing, the entire menu becomes available (there are over 50 options to choose from); though expansive, it seems difficult to choose wrong after my first meal there. The only slight knock-downs come for snippy service, a lack of parking, and the occasional burned naan or roti. Still, after dozens of poor Indian meals for top buck, these small issues will not keep me from being a return visitor. Please note, these guys close from 3:00-5:00 during the week and 4:00-5:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, so the late lunch option is no good here

My recent visit to this restaurant was delightful, and I'd rate it five stars. While the Paneer Paratha was just average and the chicken in the Chicken Tikka Masala a bit dry, the real standout was the Tikka Masala sauce, which was amazing. And coupled with the Naan? Absolutely fantastic! I'll definitely be coming back for that exceptional Tikka Masala sauce and Naan!
Tasty, authentic and interesting Indian food!
I tried a starter here that I had never had before, and it blew me away - Chat Papri is now a new favourite! Puffed wheat wafers, with potato’s, cucumbers, tomatoes & onions with yogurt and tamarind sauce.
I then had a spicy Kadai Chicken with garlic naan which was again, brilliant. Tender chicken, spiced perfectly and very tasty.
The naan was a crunchy style and presented well and added to the dish.
The staff were friendly, helpful and service was swift. I’ll be back for sure!
The food was amazing, the staff was attentive. The waiter recommend some great dishes and everything was hot and freshly made. Wonderful food.
Hands down one of the best indian restaurants in SJ. We got the Aloo tikki for an app, it came with an herb chutney and a sweet barbecue esque sauce. I got the butter chicken and garlic naan and my partner got the tikki masala and regular naan. Both dishes were full of flavor and spiced very well. The naan was light and airy, while simultaneously able to hold multiple pieces of chicken for an amazing combo bite. The rice was cooked perfectly as well. And the mango lassi was amazing as well. Sweet and creamy, plus the perfect way to take the heat of a spicy curry. Highly recommend.
Amazing Indian restaurant in San Jose downtown. Found this place by random search. The place is pretty small but service was great and very friendly staff. The dishes were quite delicious and quantity is filling. They also have weekend buffet which is really good and affordable. Highly recommend!
We went on Thanksgiving day, and we were not disappointed. The food was super flavorful and spicy (believe them when they say it's really spicy and order a level down from what you normally think you would eat). The garlic naan was super good too. The food came out quickly and the service was great as well. We might have to make a new tradition of coming here on Thanksgiving, because it was so much better than anything I could've cooked!
Absolutely phenomenal restaurant! Food was incredible, service was impeccable! Absolutely loved it! Drove 45min one way after reading about this place in an online magazine, and it was absolutely worth the drive!!!
Got this delivered with Uber eats. Excellent tiki masala (got spicy - nice heat) and garlic naan bread. Also enjoyed the mango lassi. Tried the rasmalai for dessert and personally was not my type of dessert, but I can’t say if others some would enjoy or not.
Food was awesome! Staff were very helpful and friendly. My reason for 4/5 on service was just they could've been a little more attentive and brought water more often. However, the day I was there they were fairly busy with dining room and take out, so I assume that's why.
I would definitely go here again! Great place!
Heard about their buffet and went for a quick lunch midweek, but they’re currently only doing weekend buffet, so we ordered some dishes to share, and they were still very quick. We really enjoyed the tandoori chicken and butter chicken. The garlic naan and simosas were tasty too. Also, we were in and out in for lunch in about 35 minutes, with a small bag of leftovers for later. We were helped by the owner, him and his staff were very friendly and gracious. The table and dining room was clean, and the menu was full of delicious looking options. Really glad we stopped in today, I’ll indeed be back for more.
