Had brunch here for the first time ever today (and I live in the neighborhood --- shame on me for what I've been missing). Loved it all --- food, service, atmosphere, friendly staff and chef. I'm coming back! :-)
Fabulous place!!! Must go to. Food is homey and delicious.
Great place overall, and they get the cobb salad spot on 10/10! Great staff and service on top of the good food. ❤️
Edit: they're currently doing takeout only now that they've opened up again. Stopped by to order this morning. Still great. Everyone is super nice, food was prepared quickly and is delicious! And yes, I was craving Cobb salad, and ordered that again, along with side of sausage and a mimosa. Let's talk about that mimosa though...it's a perfect blend of alcohol to juice. Almost a 50/50 feel. Not one of those that just top it off with champagne. The sausage was great. And the salad was amazing, with the chicken separated to keep it hot and delicious.
Very casual environment with tasty brunch food and friendly wait staff.
Avocado omelette was truly a taste to behold! All the fixings were on point to include their house made lemonade.
Deliciousness! Huge portions and homemade jelly and thick toast. Huge pancakes as well. No bar though, so I had to settle for a mimosa 🙂
Excellent quiet spot for great food on a Saturday morning. Get in before 10 and enjoy the bacon
Nice, clean atmosphere, the food is tasty and high quality. The service was excellent my first time there. The second time, I had my heart set on an omelette but was told they only had a broccoli and cheese omelette. Turns out the waiter mixed that up with the scramble which he had reversed. So, I missed out on my favorite bacon, mushroom, and cheese omelette, very disappointing. Be sure to walk over and check the specials board so you have the correct specials to choose from.
If you are ever in San Francisco. You absolutely MUST try Ella’s. I tried the French toast, pancakes, eggs, and bacon. It is the best breakfast place I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot. I traveled from Denver, Colorado to visit and stopped in. Highly recommend. Carlos was an amazing server. When I’m back, I will go again.
Do yourself a service and go try the pancakes, it’s what they are known for. Don’t listen to the sorry reviews. Hands down a way better restaurant than what the stars say.
There is always a wait at this place but the breakfast food and brunch menu is totally worth it. Its nice and cozy at this place unless you're waiting near the door for your seat then its a bit gusty in that area. Definitely order the chicken hash. I believe their pancakes change on a daily or weekly basis. They had a banana walnut one once that was absolutely divine.
I'm (sadly) mildly allergic to garlic and onions. When I told the waitress, she walked to the back for a minute and then one of the chefs came out with a dressing she had made especially for me -- she wanted to make sure I liked it. It's was smoked olive oil and sherry vinegar and a little salt. Fantastic. Really nice little place, and what a staff!
I had the Avocado Omelete here which is served with lots of roast potatoes and a couple of slices of French toast. Very generous portions and friendly staff.
The place did not seem busy when we were there, this could be down to the high prices they are charging and competition from cheaper coffee shops style breakfast places along Polk street. Would recommend lowering prices to attract more business.
