Where in the city can you get ribs so perfectly cooked? Nowhere! Actually all the food is amazing from the blackened catfish to the gator bites to the chicken and waffles. But the oxtails and dirty rice and shrimp and grits are to die for

This is our first visit to San Francisco and this restaurant was highly recommended to us while we were attending the Raiders football game as a place we must try. The ambiance, vibe, decor and staff was fabulous! The food was exceptional and drinks were awesome! They made me a believer in grits. I've never liked them. I ordered the oxtails and grits WOW! My husband ordered the blackened shrimp. We highly recommend and strongly encourage ALL to try Hazel Southern Bar and Kitchen! This was without a doubt the best food and overall dining experience of our SF vacation. We cant wait to come back!

Had the best time here! The parmesan garlic wings are YUMMY. Im hooked! ... the bartenders serve great drinks, well crafted and nice as can be ... Like Beignets? They have yummy beignets and peach cobbler too. The caramel sauce is OMG delicious too. Go here. Youll like it.

I went with a group of friends for the first time last night. For a weeknight, the place was packed! Thankfully, one of my friends knew this and we had a reservation--just to sit in the bar! They do serve southern and Cajun food (grits and alligator). We ate a ton of their Cajun fries--they were hot, spicy and delicious! Located at 1446 Market--just off Van Ness--they serve over 300 different whisk(e)ys! (Their parenthesis around the "e".) Not being a whiskey fan--I already drank prosecco earlier--so I was ready for something different and I like tequila or rum when I go out. For my 1st drink, I had a "Smokin' Cactus"! This spicy concoction was made with mezcal and jalapeno and was interesting to say the least. For my 2nd drink, I tried the "Blood Orange Margarita". The rims of both drink glasses were unique tastes. I highly recommend. I would have given 5 stars except for 2 reasons: 1. Even food items that you wouldn't think would have meat--collard greens and cabbage--were NOT vegetarian. I would have preferred more vegetarian options. 2. Maybe because they were busy? But once when we asked for drinking water--they brought not one but TWO huge carafes off HOT water! I do recommend and would return--ideally when not so crowded.

Easily one of my favorite places in the city. My go-to is the kale salad w/ shrimp and chicken and a side of gumbo. The cocktail menu is great as well. I highly recommend the Vanilla Spiced Old Fashioned.

Came here with a small group on a Monday for dinner. The cocktail menu can be overwhelming so it took us some time to decide which whiskey/bourbon/ryes we wanted to try. We also were there at the tail end of happy hour so decided to start with the fried Mac n cheese which had a tasty breading. We also split the tater tot nachos (not on happy hour menu) which I wasn't a fan of. They are house made I believe where the tot is more of a mashed potato formed into a cube and breaded. The problem I had with these was they got soggy quick and I like my tots crispy. For main course we split the fried chicken and blackened cat fish dishes. Each large plate comes with 2 sides so we got the collard greens, mashed sweet potatoes, cornbread, and brussel sprouts. Between the 4 of us it was enough (the sides portions were larger than I expected). Aside from the food, the ambiance of the bar is great. Casual seating and even has two pool tables and a full size shuffle board. Also, there is another bar called Mr. Tittles that is connected and hosts live jazz everyday (also has own bar). I'd recommend this as more of a happy hour spot or a place to simply grab a drink. It's not much of a dinner place to me meaning I wouldn't recommend it just for the food.

Great new addition to the mid Market area. Think sports bar meets Southern kitchen and you get the vibe. Service is friendly and you have the choice of sitting in the bar area with bar service, or the more secluded tables - don't worry, there's still a giant screen so you can watch the game. The food is great, typical tasty and artery-clogging Southern fare. With each large dish you get the choice of two sides which are also enormous. Connected to Mr Tipples jazz bar.

Great spot for small bites & drinks after work. Happy hour food menu is limited & they are so so. The buffalo sauce wings are good for $7. Great selection on cocktails for happy hour. Will come back for drinks but not food. Reasonable price with excellent service.

Food was delicious. Tater tot nachos was a nice starter. Fried chicken was tasty and not overly heavy. Collard greens were light and flavorful. Cheddar biscuit was good. Next time, I'd try the dirty rice and the ribs.

My date and I stumbled upon this spot by accident but immediate realized it was a gem. The atmosphere is upbeat and flavorful yet sophisticated. The service was phenomenal and friendly. And the food packed a whole punch. We got recommended the chicken and waffles, and yo...it was absolute fire. 10/10 dish in terms of taste and the presentation was fantastic as well. I honestly was shocked the food was so affordable!

Strange mix of sports bar with southern trendy dining but it works. I kept is basic and went with the fried chicken. The shell was not the traditional flour but almost kinda panko breading. They included a drumstick and breast which was good but it’s too hard to get a chicken breast right without drying it out. Not complaining about it but it was a bit dry. Mac and cheese was good but those biscuits…
