I do not like cake. If there’s cake around, I can pass. BUT someone brought in to our office a Jackie O cake, and from the story behind it alone, I had to try it. THIS is my favorite cake I’ve EVER had! And how lucky am I that it is an order away from being on my plate! WHOLE cakes are so reasonably priced for how beautiful and tasty they are! I have continued to buy this cake for Christmas and Birthdays and everyone is amazed how delicious it is! You just have to try it!
Some of the best Greek food I've ever had! Christos is an excellent server and quite the photogenic character after opening the restaurant 51 years ago! Nice atmosphere. We totally enjoyed our meal. Restroom could use some cleaning, but it is not gross or anything. We enjoyed hearing some of the info from when Christos worked on the Onassis ship and cooked for Jackie O.
AMAZING PLACE. The food was so fresh, the potatoes are a must!!! Please go to this restaurant if you ever have a chance it’s a piece of history in itself. If you’re a DOLMAS lover like myself, JUST get 3 orders of them, they’re that delicious
The cake is great and so is the service!
I stumbled into this place as I was searching for dinner and was greeted by the friendliest old man! What a great person!
Tried the cake first and it was excellent. Had the lamb shank and it was tasty. Would rather to have stayed to eat but I had to get back to the hotel. I would say this is family friendly too!
Grab some bottled water while there! Good price better than a convenience store!
Thank you to Christos and the other nice man working for the generous welcome, especially so close to their closing time (after 10:00 on a Saturday night). We were leaving a wedding and I was craving Greek food. I honestly had low expectations considering it was so late but they were just lovely and took great care of us. I had a gyro platter that came with a delicious Greek salad and yummy rice. I also added on the hummus and I am SO glad because it is definitely one of the best I’ve had.
I was in Pittsburgh for a conference for 5 days. I came here 2 times. Christos is around and makes the experience so incredible. He is so kind and has plenty of great recommendations. I had the country salad with gyro meat (awesome) and the lemon potatoes (great). The second time I came I had some greek coffee and the famous dessert which was worth the hype. The whole time I felt so welcome and cared for. If I ever return to Pittsburgh, I will be back.
Found Christos by happenstance while in Pittsburgh for work. I visited this little restaurant three of the five days I was there.
There is nothing fancy about the restaurant. What the restaurant has that many others does not, is that it makes you feel like you are at home, at your mom (or Dad's) dining room table eating the comfort food of your youth, and Greek food was NOT the food of my youth!!
Christos is warm and welcoming. He is proud of his heritage, his long life and shares his experiences with you with pleasure. At 83 years old he's traveled and has cooked for high profile people. His 107 year old Dad is still making the wine, which comes in a no frills table glass. Did I mention his Dad is one hundred and seven?
I ask you to visit at least once and you'll understand what I mean.
I couldn't love this place more and wish I had a trip planned to go back to Pittsburgh, because I would bee-line straight to Christos.
Love love love ❤️
We all enjoyed our meals that started with delicious hummus and dipping oil and fresh Turkish bread. We had the ravioli, Greek salad with lamb kish, and salmon. Everything was delicious.
Went here for lunch and it was amazing. The best mediterranean food I’ve had in a while! Service was great and the homemade wine was smooth and delicious. Would highly recommend.
Very sweet owner and lots of good authentic food. I loved hearing the stories behind the recipes and the photos around the place. Would highly recommend stopping in.
