My husband surprised me with a late dinner for my upcoming birthday! This is a wonderful special occasion destination! The view is nothing short of dramatic (as they tout in the description) and we got lucky with some bonus fireworks compliments of our Pirates! The drinks were spectacular along with the talented bartender who created them. A special take on a Manhattan and a creative twist on the French 75 started us off. I can’t even say enough about our fabulous server, she was funny, knowledgeable, entertaining & perfectly efficient in making our dinner flawless. The popcorn starter was comical after our disappointing self refusal of the coveted caviar offerings. Moving on to oysters & champagne we could splurge on… then amazing entrees accompanied by a wonderful wine suggestion by our friendly sommelier made the evening quite spectacular only to be upstaged by a reinvented picnic classic ~ pretzel salad dessert. They also gave me a special birthday treat & a candle to make a wish on! A memorable night I won’t soon forget and I’m urging you to discover this place & enjoy some magic fine dining fun.

My dining experience at Altius was hands down EXCEPTIONAL & EXQUISITE from start to finish. Everything about the restaurant is unique, from the ideal location at the top of a hill which overlooks the entire city of Pittsburgh - right through to the top tier service!!
One of my favourite experiences dining here (which is also very dear to my heart) is the restaurants focus on sourcing sustainable, organic, locally produced products throughout their food menu and their beverages.
Knowing that this much care and attention was not only placed on the amazing decor, but also focus to ensure environmentally responsible practices with their entire business - is what truly made me fall in love with this restaurant.
Whether celebrating a special occasion, or looking to treat yourself to fine dining - Altius is your place!! I cannot wait to visit Pittsburgh again to come back and sample more off of their amazing menu.
The highlights for me were the Ōra King Salmon Ceviche and Wild Alaskan Halibut!!! 10/10… You will not be disappointed.
Great meal for our anniversary ❤️ our server was wonderful,the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was calm and elegant. We had a truly wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!
This place draws you for the views but the atmosphere and food make it an amazing overall experience! I came here with friends and we all had different things, from their amazing halibut (super well paired) to the imperative pork chops (with magnificent house butter and mashed potatoes (but closer to an aligot, my heart!!) The appetizers were also really good- we got the ceviche served on a dragon fruit as well as the not-to-be-missed meatballs. We also had drinks, wine, dessert and an espresso to wrap it all up. We were gifted brownies before going home and it was the cherry on top. If you find yourself looking for a place to splurge a bit, this is it. Right next to the Duquesne Incline, so you can easily go up or down for the full touristic experience.

Everything was great, from the start to the end. The view was beautiful, great atmosphere the entire time. We started with the charcuterie board which had a selection of three cheeses and three meats as well as organic pickles, local honey, berry jam and homemade naan with crackers. Then I had the Wild Alaska Halibut which was fresh, great seasoning and overall just delicious. My wife had the filet mignon which was really tender and perfectly cooked, the steamed carrots and purple mashed potatoes were a great combo altogether. We finished by getting the Chocolate Medley for dessert, different textures between the lightness of the Chantilly, the crispy chocolate bits and smooth chocolate mousse it didn’t last more than 2 minutes once we got it served to us.
Overall it was a great experience and I’m only passing in town so I don’t know when I’ll be able to enjoy this food again but next time I’m back I’ll definitely come back at Altius.
I want to mention our server, Adam, who was really attentive, kind and professional all throughout the meal and made it an even better experience. I truly hope he will be recognized by the restaurant and eventually maybe given the position of manager as he deserves it in my eyes. Good job Adam.
Best restaurant in Pittsburgh period. You get what you pay for 💯 I have been here multiple times and this establishment is always on point including service. This is just some of the items that we had. The plum dessert was amazing 🤩 P.s …. Pic of the meatballs stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella were fantastico 🏆
Food is amazing here, just really phenomenal, service is fantastic! Will definitely go back. We really enjoyed ourselves celebrating my mothers birthday!
I have to start off by saying that the food was phenomenal. Yes, you go for the beautiful views of Pittsburg but the real show stealers are the food. We had an awesome waitress who was able to describe every dish so beautifully. They gave us a peach and burrata amuse bouche. For starters, we ordered the meatballs and ceviche. Right then and there, I knew the meal was going to be good. I had the Halibut, which I have to say was the best Halibut dish I’ve ever had in my life. We closed the meal with the strawberry pretzel salad, something I’ve never had but now learned it’s a “thing” from this area. They sent us home with a little brownie in a bag for a late night snack too. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It was so damn delicious and I’m so sad my meal is over.
Visiting friends from out of state. They took me tonight as a treat. What a gem!!

Adam was our server and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Answered all our questions and was passionate about his job.
Food exceeded expectations. We had leftovers, so will be enjoying again.
Dessert (spring fling) was a masterpiece
Beautifully decorated restaurant with great food! Our first time here and it was outstanding. The crab toast was the best thing we ate all day! They give free popcorn at the start of the meal, so a nice touch there too
Also had the strip steak, the chicken, pomme frites (get them), and two desserts. Can’t wait to go back and try more things!
