I eat here with my family at least once a week. I LOVE S & S Cafeteria! It reminds me of all the great Cafeterias Charleston used to have. It is Classic. It is very lovely inside with chandeliers and booth and table seating. A wonderful atmosphere to sit in with your family and have a delicious and wholesome meal. Not loud and obnoxious like so many places. It is always consistently delicious and well taken care of. The service is EXCELLENT. I can't say enough good things. The cafeteria servers are friendly and helpful. They actually give extra gravy if you ask for it. They help you with your tray. They accommodate large crowds easily and actually really give service by preparing tables and moving chairs. It is wonderful. The prices are amazing especially for a family. A child can have a healthy, real meal for less than 3 dollars! I also LOVE their liver and onions especially, and it is hard to find that served places anymore. They have a HUGE selection though from prime rib to chicken. The desserts are Delicious. Their sweet potato souffle absolutely yummy and can be a dessert. Their biscuits are wonderful to take home and eat later with cane syrup and butter. Honestly, a lot of Charleston is tourist these days and the restaurants charge huge amounts of money for "southern" food. It is hard to find a restaurant for a local that doesn't charge an arm and a leg, AND where you can get a REAL MEAL, not just a sandwich. This is local. This is also Real Southern food too. The kind of southern food you grew up with in the past: collard greens, turnip greens, lima beans, a great New Year's Day meal of Hoppin' John and greens! Southern and yummy!!

We have been enjoying one of the few old-time buffets still around. It's economical and has great southern standards. My favorites are the fried chicken or chopped steak or liver and onions. Desserts are all good. Great choice of sides, and the biscuits are fresh.

This is always my nostalgic restaurant when visiting the Lowcountry. Amazing experience every time. The only problem is I want everything they have, so portion control !!! Keep this tradition alive. You can thank me later

This place literally kept me alive as a kid. My grandmother would bring us here weekly. 10/10. You know it's good when people will stand in the summer heat outside the take out shop waiting to get in.

I grew up going here with my grandmother often as a child/young adult. I'm in my late 30s now, and I can still remember the smell when walking in the door. I make it a point to go when I'm in town to see my mother. I love how quiet it is, how delicious the food is, and the friendliness of the staff. I'm so glad to see that it's still around. The food choices are expansive, and there's always something for everyone. West Ashley Is the perfect location for this cafeteria, as most of the people eating there are the older generation. The epitome of comfort food.

Beware the BBQ chicken, it had bones in it. BUT our server was quick to change it out for something else for my husband. Fair pricing and overall really good food. Loved the strawberry shortcake. 🍓
