Impeccable service from our waiter, Raymond, made a family meal absolutely wonderful. The food and wine were first rate and their bartenders make the best palomas on the planet. I thought the best creme brûlée I’d ever eaten was, ironically, in Beijing but now that crown goes to Stars.
I would like to say that I've had 2 large parties there for my b-day past few yrs and another large one this past week Thursday night ! Stars has always been amazing to me in so many ways with accommodating my needs with such large parties of 20+ ! Never any concerns and the staff was amazing and did a phenomenal job at all parties ! Thank you Stars and management ! You always do it right and highly recommend you for future gatherings ! Oh and the food is off the chain! Thanks again !! We had a blast !
We hosted our wedding reception in the vintage room at Stars and they made sure it was a perfect night. The food was INCREDIBLE. It was absolutely raved about by all our guests. The room was gorgeous, and the staff allowed us to come early for setup. Our server was amazing and efficient, and ensured that everyone was taken care of. Things could not have gone smoother, and I am so sincerely glad that we chose to celebrate our wedding at Stars. We are looking forward to coming back to celebrate our anniversaries here! Thank you Stars!
Great place for a great dinner would definitely go again.
Atmosphere: Really well done. The lights are stunning, and the entire place was simply done beautifully. They really tried to pay attention to details, including hooks for handbags under the bar which is hardly ever a thought! Really nice touch.
Food: absolutely wonderful overall. The steak was beautifully cooked over the open flame which you can see. I spoke to the chef about it because I could taste the smoke and it was such a nice robust flavor profile. I added on the risotto, and while as a risotto it was missing the creamy texture and fullness, as a buttery rice my mouth and belly were still so happy. The fries are made in house and are absolutely fantastic. Don't skip out on those - I don't find a ton of fries that I really truly enjoy, these I did. While the salad was not enjoyed by who ordered it, the mussels were simply fantastic, and the sauce was absolutely raved about. Just a touch of heat to warm the pallette but not overwhelm.
The manager made our drinks, and while they did not have fresh mint for a mojito, she made a cucumber cocktail that, while not a number one choice for me, was refreshing and light. I could have settled on it and drank it, but she brought me a disarono on the rocks type of drink that was served with a dark cherry of sorts and was really quite nice.
The chocolate cake with nuts was a decadent choice and a true treat to eat.
The staff was very kind, informative and helpful for our experience. The girl at front was new, her first day as luck would have it, and she did great too. The chef had no problem talking a bit and was quite charming. You can tell he is proud if his work.
Something I don't mention often - bathrooms: the bathrooms here were done nice as well and were private and classy. Not a disaster as so many are. I appreciated the full doors.
Nice friendly - and very competent staff! We could not get a table but eating at the bar was fine and fun. Food was very delicious and well prepared. We had the steak. Recommendable!
We reserved a private room for a bachelorette party dinner for 14 women. The food and drinks were great, and two servers assisted us throughout our dinner. We opted for a prix fixe menu. Our options included two salad choices, steak, fish, and a vegetarian option. We also ordered appetizers for the table to share.
We had a food and drink minimum, and food alone wasn't going to meet that, so be aware of this should you plan an event here. We ordered some nicer wine bottles for the table to ensure we met the minimum.
Before dinner we visited the rooftop and had a bachelorette photoshoot and drinks. Delightful.
It's a great spot for an event.
The smoked Ribeye steak grilled to perfection on a wood fired grill is one the best steaks in Charleston and priced reasonably including 2 sides. The presentation for the iceberg wedge was terrific. Housemade apple crisp dessert and the incredible coconut cake/strawberry shortcake topped off our meal. Don't missed the huge Rooftop bar, best cocktails, and a large tap wine selection that is delicious.
We were a party of 6 who came on a Saturday night. Even though we had a reservation, we still had a wait a bit. Bummer that the rooftop was closed too. The food was good but for what it was, a bit overpriced. Overall a good place for dinner but there are better options out there.
Great little spot for a drink. We stopped here to grab a drink before dinner and it was a nice spot overall. There is a full bar on the roof and I got the Lavender Lemonade, which I absolutely loved. Being outside on the roof was really fun, especially since the weather was lovely. The view was nice, but not as nice as we were hoping. We were going to eat downstairs, but ended up going somewhere else. The food looked amazing, though, as we were leaving; pretty upscale. I would like to go back for dinner before we leave. It's a really nice place to grab a pre-dinner cocktail, so I recommend it.
Great ambiance! The main courses we ordered were SO GOOD. The oysters were good, but not worth the $$ in my opinion. The drinks were spot on. If you love coffee for sure get the espresso martini for dessert! We headed to the rooftop for another round of drinks. Lots of room to move around and see the view.
Chef Pope is AMAZING!! The menu is perfect by keeping it small and there were plenty of choices. The "frogmore" chowder was creamy and delicious topped with a perfectly seared scallop. I adored the preserved duck salad! The apple gave it the right amount of sweet with savory. My Ribeye was one of the best I've had in Charleston. PERFECTLY seasoned and cooked to Medium Rare. And the desserts were so good we had to order all three(for the two of us) our server was busy but took excellent care of us,not missing a beat. Fortunately Robert suggested the walnut cake so we added that and my goshhhhhh,Hats of to the pastry chef. I must add my kudos to the bartender for my rum punches. We had an INCREDIBLE date night at this Foodie Gem on King St!
Such an awesome experience! The staff were super warm and welcoming the entire visit. The octopus was surprisingly tender and some of the best we've had. The apple salad was very well balanced with the goat cheese and fruits, and so refreshing. The flank steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. The goat cheese mashed potatoes were so tasty and creamy, but not overpowering. Definitely one of my favorites! The cheesecake was SOOO creamy and delicious. The creme brulee was nice, and the whipped cream on the side helped tie it all together. We ordered the restaurant week menu and it did not disappoint. You can tell how much they care about the food here! I'm so happy we came and now I'm excited to come back for their regular menu!
