Amazing for good Indian cuisine...it's dal makhani and butter chicken are to die for..love their butter naan too...I don't miss India that much after coming to this place
Although, Amber India is one of the very few Indian restaurant in Santana Row area. But still I would say they need to improve on the taste of their food, authenticity of the food. By authenticity I mean it's not very authentic like; the one which we get in India. I had 'Murg Ludhiwani' & 'Dhabewali kaali Daal', but I find both of these dishes as; rating them 6/10.
Also, service delivery ettiqutes are not up to the mark. By this I mean; they didn't give Bowls & spoons with Dal. I mean when you are offering Indian food specifically, then you are supposed to give Bowl without even asking, because one cannot sip the Dal🙃 or sip the gravy of chicken.
This is definitely the classiest Indian restaurant in San Jose. The location is great, the overall feel and decor of the restaurant is very nice. Perfect place to entertain guests or for an outing with family and friends.
The food is as close to good North Indian fare you get in a good restaurant back home in India. I don't say that about many other Indian restaurants around the world so it is a fairly high complement.
They have a decent wine list both by the glass as well as the bottle and some innovative cocktails. For the meal we had samosas and nimbu chicken for starters. Freshly prepared and elegantly served. Quite good (4/5). For the main course we had lamb roghan josh, chicken, dal makhani and okra accompanied by tandoori rotis, followed by pulao and raita. The food was ok (3/5). For desert we had a date and fig kulfi, and it was excellent (4.5/5).
Ambience and Food both good. Location very good. VFM not so great. I thought the place was more expensive than it should have been. The food is good no doubt but it looks like the cost of real estate is being passed on completely to the customer ;). At a slightly more economical price I would have rated this place higher.
Good food, tad expensive but worth the money ...situated on a high street place like Santana Row...it gives the best experience here at San Jose..
Ambience and food was good. Haven't had Indian food like this in a while.
Near #SJC. Taken here by three Indian hosts for business dinner (what better endorsement?!) they say best Indian food in the Bay Area. Food was great, good wine list, good service. Would return here. Tried at least four different dishes from vegetarian to lamb to fish
Good buffet. Really good buffet, however food is quite heavy.
Try the chaat options!
Good food. Awesome taste. There were a great variety of options and both the veg and non veg options were delicious. The cocktails menu were extensive as well.
Overall had a nice experience considering it was a week before Christmas and pretty crowded.
One of the great authentic Indian places in the Bay Area .
Everything served here is of the highest quality and adheres to authenticity and freshness
Our favorite is their afternoon lunch buffet , the Santa Row location currently has Friday and weekend buffet and the Los Altos location has sat/sun buffet
I would eat the buffet only for the endless goat curry and naan
The butter chicken and naan or butter chicken and rice is out of this world , again worth the price of the buffet for this alone
The vegetarian entrees are spectacular, saag dishes are great , panned dishes are excellent
In general sauces are rich and flavorful and mildly spicy
Excellent place for a celebration or conversation

A traditional Indian taste after a long time. I throughly enjoyed the chicken tandoori. The meat had the right amount of spice and tenderly cooked. Also the fried prawns were extremely cooked. The butter chicken was my favorite. I have tried in many restaurants and it was very creamy and not well cooked but in Amber, every aspect of butter chicken was awesome and the chicken was well cooked in the curry.
Taste is authentic and service is professional. Very nicely prepared food that taste like its been done by real chefs with lots of hard work. I've been returning a couple times in the past 7 years and their menu is pretty consistent. Recommending the chicken biriyani (bomb yogurt sauce), nimbu chicken, and garlic naan.
In my humble opinion this is the best Indian restaurant in San Jose. It is definitely not cheap, but the quality of the food, service, location etc. are worth the price. The dishes are quite large so take that into account, and don't miss the naan bread and dips for starters - it really gives the whole meal a better start.
Important: free parking at the beginning of Santana Row street (this is the address on Google Maps: 330 Winchester Blvd, San Jose, CA 95128).
Upscale Indian restaurant in Santana Row located near the cinemas. Parking is available at the Santana Row parking garage which is close by. Wait staff was allergy aware and there were several gluten free and peanut free options on the menu and on the buffet. Food was tasty but not very spicy.
Good service and good tasting food. However, prices are high. We had vegetarian dishes: samosas, dal, paneer, and naan. The samosas were good because they were not greasy. The dal was good to me because it tasted fresh. My favorite was the paneer in tomato gravy (forgot the name). I recommend this dish the most. The clay oven paneer was good to try too. You could taste its baked. Overall it was a nice restaurant but pricy.
Having been there for a couple of times and being impressed by their cuisine and hospitality every single time. This time we happened to order a to go meal and it did turn out to be an amazing decision :).
Happened to order Saag Panner, Chingari Paneer Tikka , Butter Chicken and a Stuffed Naan. Cooked to precision and just perfect when it comes to striking a balance between making it rich in spices and calm on the chilli.
All the dishes turned out to be great. The only thing that could probably have been done better was to add more pieces of paneer to the Saag paneer as it was pretty rich with spinach but we literally had to nose dive in it to gather some good pieces of paneer.
Definite recommendation in case the craving for Indian food peeks up and you are looking to have it addressed!!!
Fine dining Indian restaurant with good ambiance. The meats are very juicy and well cooked. Idly munchoorian is a must try. They are rice cakes cut into pieces, fried and tossed in munchoorian sauce. Harabara kabab is another must try. Shrimp Curry has Goan flavors. Kofta source is yummy!
We were here for dinner with my friends. We ordered Madeas spiced curry prawns, Karavalli prawns, cilantro garlic naan and butter chicken. Nice and tasty and everyone enjoyed the food
