Food was great. Staff were happy and cheerful (even though we were there Christmas evening)! We ordered the special cheese wheel pasta which was a Lobster pasta. The sauce was phenomenal, but the lobster was barely noticeable.
I also had the carbonera which was great! The sauce was perfect, the right amount of pork, and the extra parmasean on top made this dish great.
The real winner of the evening was the appetizer. We had the fried barrata. The marina sauce was perfect. The light crispy crust was done just right. And the cheese. The cheese had such great texture and flavor! I could have eaten three more orders!

First visit. The food exceeded my Italian wife and my expectations.
Our server Emanuele S, provided exceptional food and wine recommendations and a dining experience above and beyond.
Will definitely be back soon and often.

Not much a salad girl, but the Caesar salad was so good! The veal was so delicious and tender. Lemon cake and tiramisu is a must to finish your dinner.

Great happy hour menu! We got calamari, truffle fries, garlic bread, romaine salads, and we each got a pasta dish. The portions were great and I thought all the food was delicious. Service was wonderful and the decor is really nice too

Amazing staff and manager. We’ve been here at least 7+ times the past year living in San Diego. The cheese wheel is so unique and flavor is great every time. Pasta is so fresh! Really enjoyed our visit tonight, we just eat fast lol

Delicious with amazing service. Fantastic place with great ambiance. There were so many things on the menu that I wanted to try. Luckily, it was so delicious that we will be back to try to the others. Wanted to try the cheese wheel special that everyone raves about. However, we got grandma’s ragu and wild boar sausage pastas which were fantastic. The squash blossoms were delightful with their cheese blend which I could actually eat because it wasn’t heavy with gorgonzola in the mix and they add a sweet glaze and spicy marinara that hit all the taste buds. And their garlic toast is like none other… so garlicky and so crispy that maybe not all will like but it’s worth getting since it’s not like most Italian places.

Wow, what a find in San Diego! A real Italian restaurant with a cool vibe and a farm-to-table approach to their menu serving authentic, delicious apps, entrees and desserts. I was impressed with everything that we ordered and our server, Nicholas, was amazing. It's obvious that the employees take pride in where they work and know the menu so well. Started with an espresso Martini and garlic bread... whoa! We had the lobster ravioli and eggplant parm, both exceeded our expectations. To top it off, the limoncello cake was soooo good, so leave room for dessert. Note: we ate a lot, but didn't feel full after, the portion sizes are perfect for the quality, but watch out for the param cheese wheel, that is a massive portion, easily split. Thanks, RustiCucina & Nicholas!!! We'll be back!

I can't complain about this place other than it is more expensive than your average meal. The staff on hand was superb. Our waiter was very friendly and we were taken care of in a swift, effective manner. The decor wasn't bad either. They like Edison bulbs as much as I do. We sat outside. I love people watching and find the city very interesting so I liked the atmosphere. The cheese wheel pasta is delicious but it's overpriced at 50 bucks. Having said that I would buy it again if I had the money, lol

I made a reservation here on a whim. I wanted to go on a dinner date on Sat, but my husband hates waiting. I looked up contemporary Italian, and this place came up. The pictures of the food looked good, so I said, "Why not?" We got the artichoke appetizer, which was delicious. Very light and fresh. My husband ordered the ossobucco. He said the meat just fell off the bone and was very favorable. I ordered the wild boar sausage vodka sauce with the paparadelle noodles. OMG!! They were so good. I can't stop thinking about that sauce, yummy 😋 I try to get vodka sauce wherever I go, and this by far exceeded my expectations. I went to work telling everyone about this place. We will be back for sure.
