Sushi Deli 3

As if this place needs any more 5 star reviews! This is the most consistent and supremely satisfying sushi spot in San Diego. Fresh food, superb prices, and downright so reliable. My husband and I love the Baja California rolls, and the spicy tuna poppers, among many others. Some of their vegetarian sushi like the Beehive and Cruchy are just as good, if not better.

Don’t judge the restaurant by its location. This little gem is just off the Convoy restaurant row but it’s been here 40 years. That requires consistent quality. The inside is very inviting and with a bar, would be a great place to bring your date. Speaking as a mom. And now for the food. Excellent! The highlight was the minimum salt in all the food including the delicious miso soup!

March 2023: Came here with my wife for dinner when they opened for dinner on Thursday. There was only one party in line so of course we were seated right away. We are returning diners, although last time was back in 2015. The place has not changed from what we remember. There are two separate parking lots, with the one on the back side being for take-away/delivery. We ordered a drink each, gyoza, some nigiri and five rolls. All of the food were not disappointing. The nigiri had great fish-to-rice ratio. The rolls had the right amount of rice too. The gyoza was fried, so a different texture from the more commonly steamed. My favorite rolls from this time were the Triple Threat and the Hot Hot Pearl. The service was friendly and kept checking on us. The environment/atmosphere isn't loud, so it's easy to have a conversation. We would definitely come back again. September 2023: Came again for a late dinner at 9. The place was starting to clear out so we were able to be seated right away and given water shortly after. My wife and I ordered fried calamari, Black Magic roll, Snapping Salmon roll, and nigiri. The calamari was crispy and cooked well. They came with two different dipping sauces (a spicy and a creamy). The rolls were tasty. The fish on the nigiri wasn't as good, lacking flavor. The nigiri, alone, is not what will get me to come back.
