This place has the Greatest Pizza in San Diego..Not a big fancy place, but food cannot be beat....Really great people that and service is top notch..
Love the homey feel here. Very quaint not like the chain restaurants. We came late on a Thursday night and they were packed! Service was friendly and food was fresh and delicious. I'd recommend a visit here.
I got an 8 inch pizza with ricotta cheese & sausage. It was okay, I wasn't impressed. However, I will say that the price and size was on point. I'm down to come back and try their other pizza combos. My husband had the egg plant lasagna and that was yummy! I loved it. Service was good, too. I will say that the location is a bit awkward...lol. There's an adult store, an auto shop and BOOM, this restaurant. Haha.
I stayed at the La Quinta in Old Town. After a search on urbanspoon I found Volare. I called to verify they delivered and ordered a pizza (The Works) and some fried calamari. The pizza was great - the crust was not to thick and not to thin and just slightly crispy on the bottom. The calamari came with some marinara sauce. The calamari was typical and the marinara was good - very garlicky. Overall I liked this food and would recommend it.
Volare is this awesome little hole in the wall Italian family restaurant in the Sports Arena/Old Town area. It’s in a strange location, off of Barnett Ave. near the Marine Corps Recruit place with a very large adult store that apparently has an “adult arc
Went here on a whim.. very quaint family setting with fantastic ambiance. The service was exquisite we will def go back here. We even took a pizza home for later it was fabulous!!
This is a classic no-frills Italian eatery. Though the prices have increased in recent years, it's still a great place to grab lunch or dinner. You aren't getting fancily plated small portions here. You're getting traditional sloppy Italian dishes with plenty of flavor. Just like you would in Italy. And the dated interior just adds to the experience. I love it.
Hidden gem for sure, I almost don’t want to review it because it’s one of those places you want to keep a secret. I’ve eaten here a handful of times with my bf and we just love it so much. The food is delicious and it feels like your grandparents cooked it for you special. It’s family owned, I always see the same employees every time and they’re very welcoming and kind. They have the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life and everything feels authentic. Hold on the wall atmosphere. This is a place for genuinely good food not Instagram photo ops.
Cute little hole in the wall with a family friendly atmosphere. I felt like I was at home with the simple holiday decorations and wonderful food. Do not let the parking lot pull you away from a quiet and intimate date night. The servers Kate and Karen were attentive to their guests and made the night memorable.
Undoubtedly one of the top Italian restaurants in San Diego (and my girlfriend and I have tried almost all of them). The prices are quite reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. The antipasto, in particular, was the best I've had in a long time. Although we opted for takeout this time, we're definitely planning to dine in next time.
Delightful little hole in the wall with absolutely delicious food! The service was great and the specials were fantastic! I had the stuffed artichokes a d my husband had the lobster ravioli which was sooooo good! Highly recommend!
Don't let the decor or location hinder you from coming to this restaurant. The food is delicious!
We ordered the Zucchini Fritti for an appetizer along with garlic bread & both were fresh & tasty. For the main course most of us ordered an individual pizza. I got the vegetarian one & it was so good! Two of my kids got the spaghetti & meat sauce & they loved it.
The prices were very reasonable, the total was $70 for a family of five. I love the comfortable, family type atmosphere. There was a great selection of italian food. You won't be disappointed. 😋❤
This is definitely one of the best Italian food restaurants in SD (my girlfriend and I have been to almost all of them). Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are big. The antipasto was the best I’ve personally had in a long time. We got takeout but will definitely sit down for food next time.
Great hidden treasure!
Italian food made with love❤️👌. So many great choices! Can't wait to try the many things on the menu
Went there with some family members over the weekend. Food was absolutely amazing. Customer service was ok and we loved the fact that we didn't have to wait too long for the food. Spaghetti and meatsauce was perfect as was the calzone. Loved the original old school setting of the interior too. Had a warm and cozy feel to it.
This place is definitely an unexpected treasure and will definitely be back soon.
