When I’m after a work appointment for lunch. Was happy to see they had some quick food to grab on top of great desserts. The owner happens to be in and was very nice. We brought me a sample of the cheese and it was awesome! I live in the south end of the valley and plan to visit the Draper location. Nice staff, friendly owner, and great food. Highly recommend!
We have a family member with a dairy allergy so we are always on the lookout for a vegan replacement that is equal to or better than the original. City Cakes has not yet disappointed with their mac and cheese, their cookies, donuts, muffins or cakes. Everything is delicious!
Their cakes are beautifully decorated and worth every penny and the effort to get to the café to buy them. We've found their goods at Harmons, Whole Foods and The Store in Holladay.
Amazing!. I just visited for the first time and ordered the Veggie Sausage Burrito, and OH MAH GAHD it was incredible! This definitely is on my list of top ten things I have ever put in my mouth! Cheesy, potatoey, meaty, and vegan! Nobody would have guessed. If the mac 'n cheese is anywhere near as good I will have to move in. Their peanut butter bar was also delicious; like a giant Reese's!
The employees were very friendly and made my food fast. The restaurant has a glass barrier between the chefs and the tables, so you can watch them work, which is pretty cool. The whole place was very neat and clean. I will definitely be back!
We stop here EVERY time we're in Salt Lake City. Staff is always friendly and knowledgable about there menu and bakery counter. It's not often you can have a vegan CINNAMON ROLL. Even our non vegan friends salivate over these baked items. TOP NOTCH - get here... You'll love it.
I LOVE this place so much -- they have the BEST gluten-free, vegan treats out there. My husband isn't vegan OR gluten-free and he craves this place. Their cupcakes, peanut butter bars, chocolate cookies (I hate chocolate cookies, but these are unbelievable), zucchini bread, and brownies are AMAZING. Their chili is wonderful, and I die over their tomato basil soup (not available every day though). I'm so in love with them that I had them do my wedding cake. All of my guests RAVED about the amazing chocolate cake with vanilla frosting -- none of them knew it was gluten-free or vegan; their stuff is just that amazing. Love, love, love!!
VEGAN OR NOT...THIS IS AWESOME. I am IN LOVE with City Cakes! I don't see any reason to review the decor, or service (both of which are really great) when the food stands alone as the shining reason to seek out this world-class bakery in the heart of Salt Lake City. The cupcakes are spectacular, and the scones will make you fall in love all over again. I personally MUST HAVE the Mac 'N Cheeze or Au Gratin Potatoes whenever I am there. The food is amazing and EVERYONE I have ever brought to City Cakes is shocked to find out that it is ALL VEGAN. The expanding GLUTEN FREE selection is giving City Cakes even more notoriety. Whenever I am in Salt Lake, I make it a priority to stop by City Cakes.
They saved the day!!. My husband is allergic to milk and we had been to 3 different bakerys for a wedding cake before city cakes. The second we stepped in the door they were super friendly and very helpful! I was explaining what I wanted (in a very confusing way) but they knew exactly what I wanted. When my wedding day came, the cake looked even better than I expected and it tasted even better!! You couldn't even tell it was vegan!! It was so delicious!!!!

Even the gluten-free goods are surprisingly delicious. I keep coming back for the sweet potato muffins and waffles.
Delish and friendly. Been in a number of times, and the counter help is always super friendly. I'm not even vegan, but love their cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies. Their snickerdoodle is about the best I've ever had, but haven't seen it in the case lately...If it's back soon I'd suggest picking enough up to share.
I'm a pastry snob and the thought of a baker who'll compromise a dessert simply to appeal to a specialty audience like vegans or the gluten-free strikes me as somebody who should be ejected from the core of the baking faithful and have oven privileges revoked. Yelpers decreed, however, that I needed to try City Cakes, so I bit the bullet. And I am glad that I did.
I love the gluten free options! All their food is wonderful but it's the only place I know in all or Utah that makes gluten free and dairy free treats, giving the sugary goodness I've been craving but haven't been able to obtain here.
My only complaint is how much potato flour they use. Their treats are still amazing. I wish their cheese didn't contain bell peppers but I can't expect anyone to cater to nightshade allergies and make things gluten-free/vegan.

City Cakes made my cake and cupcakes for my wedding. Lexi was a great help in making sure everything was great. Everything tasted delicious! The only thing that could have been done better was when the cupcakes were delivered, they were not labeled. We were left guessing which ones were which as we ordered multiple flavors.
I'm a frequent visitor to this vegan bakery and absolutely love all of the pastries. The German chocolate tart and the fruit tart are my favorite, but really I've loved all their cookies, brownies, cupcakes, etc. They also have a limit selection of food and it's all super yummy. Staff is also very nice and aware of dietary restrictions. Lots of gluten free options as well! Definitely worth a visit to this place for food or dessert.
It is so hard to find gluten free as well as Vegan food/desserts! I was so happy to find this Gem ! We loaded up on all the goodies and ate a maple donut as we left. I wish there was one of these in Idaho! Even. My husband who doesn't eat gf/vegan was very impressed. Staff was very friendly also ! Highly recommend!
We had a great experience working with City Cakes & Cafe! A group of us came in town to celebrate birthdays and I was recommended the bakery by a colleague. We had some ordering miscommunications but the team was really helpful with getting those resolved! The cakes turned out great and we really liked how they tasted.
A gluten free bakery with excellent red velvet cake. Our experience twice within a week was really great! Ready-to-go cakes are available quite reasonably (under $30) for your small gathering and can be customized for your occasion. This cake was decorated for a new nurse at the U. We enjoyed courteous service and delightful treats for the remainder of the week. There are soups and other items available to take home, too, so beyond the sugary stuff, one can find wholesome eats too!
Delicious craftsmanship at this vegan friendly pastry shop. I've had many of their flavor packed delicacies and have never been disappointed. Cakes are typically a little more dense than a traditional recipe. Some of that is due to the high quality ingredients than go into each high quality convection.

We could not believe how many gluten-free options they had!! Cupcakes, scones, cookies, brownies, bars, cakes, mac and cheese, chili, and a few sandwiches, oh my! We're not vegan, but everything they make is also vegan (which we couldn't tell) and I spotted some soy-free signs as well. Very reasonable priced and yummy!!
