I'm a meat eater, and I love the stuff. But I'm also someone trying to be more cognizant of the effects it has on the world as well as how a plant based diet is probably better for my health. So lately I've been more and more open to alternatives.
I've heard about Buds, great things, numerous times actually in my 6 years living in SLC. After a couple weeks of vacations indulging on "vacation meals", I decided on Monday to finally give it a shot.
...I've now eaten there 3 out of the last 4 days for lunch.
It is absolutely delicious. I've gotten the Italian Cold Cut twice, and the Buffalo Chicken once - both excellent, and I can't wait to keep exploring the menu. I bet if I gave a bite to my carnivore friends and didn't tell them what the ingredients were made of, they'd be totally fooled. Staff so far have always been great. Sandwiches have taken 5-10 minutes each time. Great prices too. I'm officially team Buds.
I ate the first half before i could snag a photo. The pesto was absolutely incredible. Vegan or not vegan, everyone can agree on a solid sub to keep the good times comin! Definitely recommend especially to skeptics.
Literally the BEST sandwich place I've ever gone to. I go here at least once a week (sometimes twice, shhh), but I would eat here every single day if I could. I've been coming to this place for many years now, and they're one of the very few places that hasn't really raised their prices - always keeping their food priced fairly, which is a HUGE plus in today's ever-inflating society. Fair prices for HUGE delicious subs, delicious cookies and brownies, yummy drinks, and the occasional special side (my favorite recently is their pesto pasta salad, YUM!). Love the owners, love the workers, love the atmosphere, LOVE the food! I've brought many meat-eaters here and they all say the same thing, that the sandwiches are some of the best or THE best they've ever had. Check it out for yourselves! :)
Buds is the very best VEGAN lunch spot in Salt Lake City. I eat here multiple times a week. Super friendly staff, very tasty and quick service. I have never had a bad experience here and I highly recommend buds to anyone! Even you meat eaters. Because I am sure you couldn’t even tell the difference.
Incredible, have been looking for a place like this for a long time - perfect vegan hoagies. Do yourself a favour and pick up the Italian. May fly back to SLC specifically for this.
We order three sandwiches from here and enjoyed all of them. Especially the pesto one. We will be back. So happy to have a vegan sandwich place
This place fills a hole I didn’t even know was in my life. Found it because my sister came in town and she’s vegan, going back because it was one of the best sandwiches of my life. I can personally recommend both the Fresh Veggie and Mediterranean Veggie sandwiches but I also can’t wait to be back and try their other menu items. I also love their lavender lemonade because it’s not too strong and pairs great with the meal. Highly recommend making this place a regular place to visit!
I like their food and it's priced very well for the quality and the fact that it's vegan. I suggest checking the busy times and possibly ordering ahead. The last time I was there (a Friday at 1pm) they said it would be a 30-minute wait and it ended up being nearly an hour. But they gave me a cookie for free, that makes up for it right? Not for me, they were too sweet for me. I wish they were open later and opened up their outdoor dining.
I love Buds so much! I have been eating here for years and unlike the rest of the vegan restaurants in SLC, this place continues to have amazing food and great prices. I am also so happy they have added new items to the menu! If you wanna impress none vegans, please take them here, then walk to Liberty Park or Memorial Grove for a picnic. Get the Pesto or the Buffalo and DO NOT forget to get a cookie. Best in town! Never change, Buds!!!!
This plant-based sandwich shop is so delicious!!! I tried the Buffalo and Pesto sandwich, the lavender lemonade, and the zucchini cookie. I was surprised at how the managed the sandwiches to taste like actual meat. And the bread was so crunchy and soft. I will be coming back here for sure! 10/10
