Visited for lunch. Lots of options for lunch special and haven't been disappointed in any yet. Always plenty of food as well. Highly recommend

This restaurant was bustling on a Friday evening! I was seated at 6:00, but by the time I left at 7, people were waiting. The decor is tasteful and classy, and the prices are slightly higher than typical Thai. But my pad Thai could have fed a small village--huge and delicious. The shrimp were cooked just right, and the proportions in the dish were perfect. The Thai iced tea was delicious as well. I walked here from my downtown convention hotel; it was doable, but pretty far (maybe 20 minutes?).

Our airbnb host suggested Sawadee to us. Our final night in SLC we decided to give it a try. We sat on the patio area. It was a perfect evening weather wise. We were looking for a laid back friendly place and Sawadee provided that perfectly.

We decided not to get an appetizer as we weren't super hungry and boy are we glad. The portion size of the meals is HUGE. We decided if we ever make it back here we will order one meal and split it and toss in an appetizer or some Tom Yum Puck.

We ordered Pad Thai and Pad Preaw Wan. Flavorful and ample portions. If we were staying another day we would have taken our left overs back to our house. The pad Thai has a nice portion of both chicken and shrimp. We ordered chicken with the Pad Preaw Wan. The prices were very good, especially considering the portion size.

Sawadee is a must if you love Thai food and find yourself in need of a relaxing dinner spot.

Nice atmosphere and good food. Have been here twice. Think I'll go back sometime, but so many Thai food options across the Salt Lake Valley.

This is an excellent restaurant within walking distance from the Avenues. The Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles) is great. The Crab Sawadee is also good. The peanut sauce with the satay is tasty and it has a little more kick than other menu options. Our servers were very responsive and we had our food quickly.

Yummiest Pad Thai I've ever had.. A friend and I shared.. I was hesitant to share at first , being so hungry but wow are their portions big. They also have my absolute favorite Pinot Noir on the menu, Fleur, which was very surprising. Maybe it's a good thing I don't live closer to this place.. I'd be here everyday !

Amazing drunken noodles. I ordered the drunken noodles at Sawadee, and they were AMAZING. Some people are saying that this restaurant is a tad overpriced, but their portion sizes are so large that my meal actually became three meals. Which is saying a LOT for me.

Great service but a bit over priced. I love Thai food, it is by far my favorite! My husband and I love to try new places and checked this one out. I can not believe how fast people were being seated on a Friday night. They did a great job at getting people in, seated, feed, and out. The service was very good. I can not even tell you the last time I was impressed with the service while dinning. The food was ok. It was not nasty or anything but I think it was lacking authenticity (both our dishes had frozen peas in them), and was over priced. At least $14.99+ for one dish. We ordered the pineapple curry and it was not for us. It was so overly sweet it was not edible for us. I took it home and was able to add more curry to it and milk to tone down the sweat but I would never get it again. It was like it had canned juice and pineapple in it. And to top it off it was like $18.00 YUCK! Our bill for two people was $62.00. I think you can get mush better food at other Thai spots in the city. Thai Saim and Sala Kitchen offer much better dishes and better prices.

Best in the state. I have tried Thai food at many other places in Utah and this is the one place I keep coming back to. The atmosphere is great. There are wood carnings and art that make it a very interesting place. The service is very quick and friendly every time. The food is always better than I remembered. I always go expecting great food and each time it beats my expectations. I get the green cury, the pad thai, and anything with the peanut sauce.

Such a fun place to eat. Great atmosphere and really quick service . We didn't have to wait long to receive our food . I had tofu Pad Thai which was very good. I had a big enough portion to have some for lunch and take some home for dinner too. My daughter had the coconut soup and chicken curry which was so yummy. I'm definitely going to get the coconut soup next time. We have the shrimp spring rolls for an appetizer and they served us two very large spring rolls that were cut in half. It was a great way to start our meal. If you're in Salt Lake, it is a fun place to stop and eat.

Danny's Review: Brace yourselves, guys! I'm about to shout from the mountaintops my undying love for Sawadee Thai Restaurant in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah. Without a shadow of doubt, this gem of a restaurant is the gold standard for authentic Thai cuisine in the Beehive State. Prepare your taste buds for a tantalizing journey. I mean, the Authentic Shrimp Pad Thai? It's an explosion of flavor that leaves you starstruck, questioning everything you've ever known about Thai food. Every bite is like a dance of textures and flavors that'll make you want to stand up and give a standing ovation! Their dinner service, which kicks off at the magic hour of 7 PM, is an extravaganza of culinary masterpieces that will send your palate on a whirlwind tour of Thailand. Each dish is a symphony of authenticity, basking in its unapologetic messiness and gooey glory. Trust me, folks, you're not just eating food here - you're embarking on an epicurean adventure! But what really sets Sawadee apart? It's the love and soul they pour into each dish. It's as though you're being wrapped in a warm culinary hug that speaks of distant places and vibrant culture. It's more than a meal – it’s a heartfelt invitation to experience the vibrant culture of Thailand, right here in Utah. Hats off to Maggie, Matt, and Steven for creating an oasis of taste that welcomes everyone with open arms. Their dedication to the craft of Thai cooking is evident in every mouthful, and their passion for their culture shines through every plate served. So, if you're yearning for an authentic Thai experience, look no further! Whether it's the wallet-friendly lunch special or the after-dark authentic Thai hours, you're guaranteed a gastronomic delight at Sawadee. It's not just a dining experience, it's a rendezvous with Thai culture that you'll want to revisit time and again. See you there, everyone! Sawadee, we will meet again soon! -Danny Levi's Review: I have to say that, though I've tried quite a bit of Thai food, I now know it's always been of the unauthentic variety. I can't quite express the extent of the change that occurred in my perceptions of Thai food after my visit to Sawadee. Every dish became my new favorite; every flavor was perfectly balanced. I could go on and on about the effect this food had on me, but I'll sum it up by saying I had three favorite dishes. In terms of pure flavor, the steak with sticky rice won out. It was perfectly cooked, and the meat with the sauce was excellent; but when paired with the sticky rice, it elevated to divine. In terms of emotional response, the Massaman short rib was phenomenal. The comfort food of comfort foods, it made me want to curl up in front of a fire with a good book. Finally, in terms of overall experience, the Shrimp Pad Thai reigned supreme. I went in with one idea of Pad Thai and left with an entirely different paradigm. The flavors were perfectly complementary, and the textures worked together to create a truly complete sensory experience. Thank you, Sawadee. I will certainly be returning. - Levi

I love a good Thai food restaurant. I’ve been back twice now and I can’t get enough of the food! Everything we ordered tasted amazing and fresh! I love the aesthetic and decor inside. There’s outside seating as well. I love the little touches like fresh flowers they have at every table. The service is fast and the menu has lots to pick from.

Great little place with fantastic food. The shrimp appetizers were great, the chicken skewer with peanut sauce was tasty, and the spring rolls were delicious. I got the massaman curry with chicken and it was so good I could leave any behind. I'll be back when to this place when I'm in town.

I ordered beef drunken noodles, chicken pad thai and papaya salad. The papaya salad leaked all over the bag and made a sticky mess but overall everything was delicious. The portion sizes are HUGE. We have plenty of food for lunch the next day. The prices were very reasonable and everything was delicious. I would definitely come again. The lunch specials are a great deal.

This place has amazing food! I love the pad Thai but everything is awesome. I loved the original restaurant and this to-go restaurant disappoint! There was plenty of seating, we ate in the restaurant. I was worried you would have to take it to go but you don’t. The lunch special is the way to go- huge portions with plenty of leftovers. The lady that helped us was so nice and helpful! Good location at Gallivan plaza, you will have to use their parking, but if you are walking downtown it is so convenient.

Love this place. So reliable. The fried duck with glass noodles on the side is cooked perfectly. The Salmon curry is good too (ask for steamed instead of fried fish)
