Best place I've ever been too. The chefs are very friendly and have amazing skills! Environment was welcoming and relaxing and the food was exquisite! Would recommend it to all my friends and family!

They have the best hibachi in Richmond! Prices are slightly higher then others but very worth it.
We were so happy with our experience! We went in on an Saturday night and we were able to be seated within 15-20 minutes. Our drink orders were taken very quickly and the host was friendly. I ordered the steak and chicken while my mom and partner ordered the chicken and shrimp. I was pleased with my steak, but the chicken was a little lackluster. The other two in my party agreed with me on that. I LOVED the vegetables with my meal they included zucchini, broccoli, onions, and peppers. The other two in my party both loved their shrimp. For me (not a huge fan of ginger) the ginger sauce was not delicious. The yum yum sauce was what you'd expect. The showmanship was good and the chef was so great with the small child that sat with us (4-5ish). Refills came quickly and they anticipated our needs by bringing boxes and keeping our glass full with our drink of choice. All in all this was a good experience with good food, but not food that will wow you.
Very nice atmosphere, great food, but the restaurant was so big it felt like walking a block to get to the restroom. Two separate bathrooms on opposite sides of the establishment would be helpful.
Hibachi filet and shrimp were quite food. Mushrooms were noticeably missing, as was any flavor in the fried rice.
Service was very good for our large party.
Interior of the restaurant matches the exterior... a bit tired.
We took our 10 year old for her birthday & her Nana's first hibachi for a 430 dinner & had the best time. The food was all great. The folks at our table and the next were great company. The entire staff was very attentive and friendly. We definitely plan to go back!
Didn't want to sit at the large table. But, small tables are only if you are ordering sushi.
Glad we did. Our chef was excellent. Very entertaining and our dinner was delicious.
An observation ... you miss a lot when you are on your phone the whole time during dinner prep/show. Our cef handled it wonderfully.
5 stars for him.
Solid Japanese Steakhouse. Checks all the boxes and satisfies the required Japanese Steakhouse experience. Tempora Sushi rolls were especially good. Ginger salad and clear soup were really good. The Hibachi chef was skilled and prepared the food well. Dinner prices are a little pricey but it's a nice once-in-a-while dining experience for a special occasion.
Everything about Kanpai was amazing. The restaurant is very clean, the service was excellent, and the food and show was perfect. My daughters had the steak, my wife and I had the filet and chicken. The salad and soup are so good, and all the food was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend making a reservation.
I enjoyed myself should have asked for more food.
Delicious food and very nice atmosphere. The chef was also excellent and put on a great show!
I came with a large group, and we got the full hibachi experience. This was my first time going to a hibachi restaurant so I had no expectations. It was a Tuesday and I was hoping to get sushi, but alas the sign at the door informed me that sushi is not served on Monday or Tuesday. A little odd, a little disappointing, but the rest of my time there more than made up for it!
Dinner is served in courses: soup, then salad, vegetables, then fried rice, before finally getting the thing you ordered. Everything was delicious, and the chefs were very good with the showmanship.
I paid about $50 for everything, which is a little expensive for one meal, but I got both dinner and the show of watching the chef prepare it, so I would consider it worth it! Fantastic experience.
