Every time I come to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Midlothian, I make it a point to stop in. I was just here on Christmas Eve and sat at the Sushi Bar! Great atmosphere, professional staff, and the food is just prepared so well! Osaka will always be at the top of my list for restaurants in Richmond!
Best sushi in Richmond hands-down!! If you're not a sushi person, Osaka also features some of the most tasty and creative appetizers and entrees for the adventurous and unadventurous alike, along with delectable cocktails. All around,the service is fantastic. However, Autumn is the best! She has been amazing to us for almost 4 years - we ask for her every time we go in!
Ok, so the reason I come is the spicy mini dumpling appetizer, but I stay for the amazing selection of sushi rolls! I have never had anything bad here. The service is attentive but not overbearing. It is a busy place so the atmosphere is a bit loud. One of my fave spots for consistently good food and service. Definitely make reservations on weekends!
Food was delicious--perfect miso and yellowfin ceviche app. Sushi rolls were also great along with the service. Overall, was a nice experience and recommended; however, four stars due to the lighting. The lights over the bar and sushi chefs cheapened the atmosphere and I wouldnt go hang out at either place because of the brightness. Osaka--c'mon, I'm sure this has to be obvious to you. Spend 50$ on dimmable lights!
Delicious food and beautiful decor! Our server was attentive and had a very pleasant demeanor. I love the plant-based options as well and love the fact that sushi rolls can be ordered with multigrain rice instead of white rice. 🤗
We arrived on a Friday night, when they opened at 5pm. By 5:30 they were packed. It is a small establishment, but a great crowd. Not too loud or overwhelming. The service was good but a bit slow since we were so early. The food was amazing though and makes up for any type of wait. We shared 2 appetizers among 3 people and shared 3 rolls. Everything was delicious. We had spring rolls and dumplings for apps and the roll I remember was the blue oyster roll. Outstanding. We were all very full and the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be going back!
Daughter and I stopped in for lunch while Christmas shopping. Wasn't very busy, but it took a little bit for someone to come sit us. We sat at the sushi bar, which is kind of our thing. They had 4-5 chefs going to town, not sure who they were all making it for, but they at least looked busy. The place is very open, but a little smaller than expected. Other than the Sushi bar, they have a small bar that has a few chairs as well. We started with a order of spicy dumplings and edamame, both very good. Then we got a Christmas roll, Eel roll and.. well don't remember the name, but it had a fried oyster in it. The Christmas roll is killer, especially if you like tuna, good large chunks of tasty tuna. All of it was good, the oyster one was a bit spicy for my daughter, but I killed it. Our waitress was on point. Prices were not too outrageous for sushi, they did have a specialty menu where it looked to get a little pricy. Great experience, great food and we would definitely go again.
I've wanted to try this place for quite some time but getting a same day reservation has been tough. It did not disappoint. Very cute inside but much smaller than I expected. I ordered the summer salad. It was light and refreshing, just too much dressing. Next time I will ask for dressing on the side. The food was great. Service was good. My only real disappointment was the salad that came with the crab and shrimp fried rice. Iceberg lettuce and watery ginger dressing. Lots of good sushi to choose from.
Had a great experience at Osaka despite their menu for restaurant week not being ready on time. Ordered the calamari and shrimp appetizers which were both amazing. Also depicted are the geisha and eel rolls which were both delicious as well. Will definitely be venturing back here again in the future.
Great food every time! Never had any problems with the quality of sushi. Each time my wife and I have ordered, we've seen everyone enjoy their break and in quick manner. Great stop for delicious sushi or bento boxes
Food is great! Shrimp shu-mai is perfect not too much dumpling dough. I ordered the river roll and subbed out kani for shrimp. I ended up ordering it twice and dunked it in gyoza 😋.
Our server Helen is attentive and helpful. Can’t wait to go back!
Osaka is a consistently good spot for sushi. Although the menu can be a bit overwhelming with options, I’ve always had a good meal there with excellent service.
