Ok, so the reason I come is the spicy mini dumpling appetizer, but I stay for the amazing selection of sushi rolls! I have never had anything bad here. The service is attentive but not overbearing. It is a busy place so the atmosphere is a bit loud. One of my fave spots for consistently good food and service. Definitely make reservations on weekends!

Food was delicious--perfect miso and yellowfin ceviche app. Sushi rolls were also great along with the service. Overall, was a nice experience and recommended; however, four stars due to the lighting. The lights over the bar and sushi chefs cheapened the atmosphere and I wouldnt go hang out at either place because of the brightness. Osaka--c'mon, I'm sure this has to be obvious to you. Spend 50$ on dimmable lights!

Delicious food and beautiful decor! Our server was attentive and had a very pleasant demeanor. I love the plant-based options as well and love the fact that sushi rolls can be ordered with multigrain rice instead of white rice. 🤗

We arrived on a Friday night, when they opened at 5pm. By 5:30 they were packed. It is a small establishment, but a great crowd. Not too loud or overwhelming. The service was good but a bit slow since we were so early. The food was amazing though and makes up for any type of wait. We shared 2 appetizers among 3 people and shared 3 rolls. Everything was delicious. We had spring rolls and dumplings for apps and the roll I remember was the blue oyster roll. Outstanding. We were all very full and the prices were very reasonable. Will definitely be going back!

Daughter and I stopped in for lunch while Christmas shopping. Wasn't very busy, but it took a little bit for someone to come sit us. We sat at the sushi bar, which is kind of our thing. They had 4-5 chefs going to town, not sure who they were all making it for, but they at least looked busy. The place is very open, but a little smaller than expected. Other than the Sushi bar, they have a small bar that has a few chairs as well. We started with a order of spicy dumplings and edamame, both very good. Then we got a Christmas roll, Eel roll and.. well don't remember the name, but it had a fried oyster in it. The Christmas roll is killer, especially if you like tuna, good large chunks of tasty tuna. All of it was good, the oyster one was a bit spicy for my daughter, but I killed it. Our waitress was on point. Prices were not too outrageous for sushi, they did have a specialty menu where it looked to get a little pricy. Great experience, great food and we would definitely go again.

I've wanted to try this place for quite some time but getting a same day reservation has been tough. It did not disappoint. Very cute inside but much smaller than I expected. I ordered the summer salad. It was light and refreshing, just too much dressing. Next time I will ask for dressing on the side. The food was great. Service was good. My only real disappointment was the salad that came with the crab and shrimp fried rice. Iceberg lettuce and watery ginger dressing. Lots of good sushi to choose from.

Had a great experience at Osaka despite their menu for restaurant week not being ready on time. Ordered the calamari and shrimp appetizers which were both amazing. Also depicted are the geisha and eel rolls which were both delicious as well. Will definitely be venturing back here again in the future.

Great food every time! Never had any problems with the quality of sushi. Each time my wife and I have ordered, we've seen everyone enjoy their break and in quick manner. Great stop for delicious sushi or bento boxes

Food is great! Shrimp shu-mai is perfect not too much dumpling dough. I ordered the river roll and subbed out kani for shrimp. I ended up ordering it twice and dunked it in gyoza 😋.

The business lunch box is very affordable and you get a lot of food. Good customer service. Fast service even during lunch time. The parking lot is tricky because Osaka is located in a strip mall.

I’ve been here twice now, both dine-in and take-out and had a great experience both times. I really like the mini spicy dumplings and the shrimp tempura roll. Alex is a great bartender, really knowledgeable on the menu, attentive.

Delicious food, friendly service, and great music! I had a chicken teriyaki lunch special that came with fried rice, miso soup, and a small side salad with ginger dressing. It was incredible and extremely reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food I received. I will definitely be back for lunch again!

WIDE MENU of Asian dishes including sushi. Teriyaki, tempura and others. This is NOT a cook your meat at the table venue. Pleasant, buzz-filled atmosphere. Good service. Good-sized portions. I had the ahi tuna which was served on rice.

I loved this spot. Had sushi which was both unique and delicious. The fish was fresh. Get the truffle trio or if you feel like splurging, try the $24 10th anniversary roll. Truffle oil brought a earthy kick that balanced the sweet soy perfectly. The Jedi roll brought balance to the Force by marrying Asian flavors with Latin cilantro and jalapeno. Get the toro if available. Attentive and friendly service in a hip atmosphere.

The food is decent, considering RIC isn’t LA or NY... there are definitely better places for food quality (sushi/sashimi), but they are in Short Pump. The problem with this location is the staff. Not the servers, although they can be quite slow when it’s busy (warm sushi is the worst!) - but this can be avoided by sitting at the sushi bar. It’s the front of the restaurant staff that seem to think they work in an exclusive restaurant that has a 6-month wait list. Ha! Not quite. If you don’t mind some up front attitude, and can get in at the bar, it’s the best you’ll get on that side of town.

Every time I come to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Midlothian, I make it a point to stop in. I was just here on Christmas Eve and sat at the Sushi Bar! Great atmosphere, professional staff, and the food is just prepared so well! Osaka will always be at the top of my list for restaurants in Richmond!

If you're not a sushi person, Osaka also features some of the most tasty and creative appetizers and entrees for the adventurous and unadventurous alike, along with delectable cocktails. All around,the service is fantastic. However, Autumn is the best! She has been amazing to us for almost 4 years - we ask for her every time we go in!

Best martinis. Excellent service, accommodated my need for booth to stretch my hip. Food always good. Took one star because the maki roll I ordered had tempura crumbles on top and they overdid the crumbles. Too much if a good thing is not good. However, the spring rolls were delicious. Still my favorite place fir sushi and cocktails.
