I love to eat, and I love Southern food. I think Driftwood is an undiscovered gem!
My favorite plate there is the fried chicken. It is so crispy, cooked perfectly, juicy, and again, impressively crispy. The chicken and dumplings are also great, and the dumplings taste freshly made. The texture is very soft, not overly firm like the pre-made dumplings. Their bbq is good, esp the brisket, but I generally can't bear to forego the chicken when I'm there.
Don't let other "Southern Tradition/New American with Southern Influence" restaurants fool you. The locals will know what I'm talking about. Driftwood is the real deal.
Perks of this location. Love Nails do the BEST nails in town. And there's a chocolate shop, beer shop, wine shop, and parking.
We have been here a few times now and each time is excellent! Last night I had my birthday dinner with 20 people and the service was great as well as the food! We had their semi-private space and they made it an easy and enjoyable experience! Their appetizers are awesome especially their Pimento Cheese tray! The BBQ is great and their special chicken-fried-chicken is awesome! Highly recommend this place!
We went here to meet up with a friend and it was a really good experience. The staff was super attentive and friendly. We didn't wait too long for our food, the flavors were there and food was delicious! We had a couple of the margaritas and they were good too! I'll recommend it! 🔥🔥
Stopped in for lunch. Very interesting take on Mexican food. Combination of flavors were interesting and delicious. Server was excellent and came by often to check on us. Will definitely be going back
The food was well prepared and delicious. The mole for the chicken enchiladas had a sweet cinnamon note and was well balanced in flavor. The steak was tender and properly marinated. The corn tortillas had a great spongy texture and were a great accompaniment for fajitas. The guacamole was a little heavy on the acid/too much lime, but it balanced out the steak pretty well. The salsa with the cactus was definitely refreshing, though there didn’t seem to be as much cactus as bell pepper or jalapeño.
Not your typical Mexican Restaurant. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Portions aren’t huge, but they are filling. There are many different salsas you can choose from for your bottomless chips (for an up charge). We had the chicken burrito, ACP, and tres leche cake. Service was fast and friendly! We will definitely be back!
Delicious food & drinks. Tortilla chips was not free unlike most Mexican restaurants but it was very fresh, crispy & Delicious, it's worth paying money to get this quality.
Margaritas & drinks had lot of options & very nicely made.
Guacamole was made fresh & delicious.
I & my wife loved the ambience of this restaurant. It was vibrant , open & very appealing , specially wall painting & frames were unique & classy. While most Mexican Restaurants interior is very stereotype, here it was very spacious & rich.
Restaurant had ample outdoor seating.
Staff was welcoming, courteous & was able to guide us in ordering food as per our dietary need.
Super Delicious food-- got the vegetarian sweet potato tacos delivered and should have subbed the corn tortilla for flour because it was a little bit soggy. That's my one regret. Flavors were great and really unique, and absolutely loved the chips, salsa, and guacamole salsa. Hubby loved his chicken tacos. Will definitely order again.
I was looking for a wedding dinner reservation and none of the restaurants in Raleigh accepted big groups reservations without contracts or deposits, I was running out of time. We wanted something simple and welcoming for our closest friends. I called Driftwood Cantina and without hesitation I was able to do a reservation for 18 people plus they have a private room and they did not asked for any service fee or anything additional. The waiter was exceptional and we had such a great time.
What a fun looking place with delicious food! The fried cheese appetizer was perfect and the entrees were authentic Mexican flavor. Enjoyed a nice aged tequila as well. We will be back!
We had lunch here when another restaurant had a long wait. Usually I am skeptical of such things, but I think it worked out well for us! We enjoyed the menu — enough variety without an overwhelming menu. The service was friendly, efficient and attentive. The food was great! I highly recommend the tacos al pastor. The mole enchiladas were great too!
We had a mini reunion this afternoon at Driftwood Cantina. The appetizers and meals were served and everyone was very happy and satisfied with their order. Fun, bright, separate room to eat and laugh as loud as we wish without worrying about being disruptive. I'll reserve here again.
