Wife n I were there yesterday n Kayla was our server n we didn't have ask for anything, she knows how to take of ppl. The selections of food were good n the grill crew were good. I recommend that place to everyone.
This is my 4th visit and I have never been disappointed!!! We have to drive about an hour to get here but well worth it. If you don’t like your meal it is your own fault. So many different veggies and meats to choose from and love how they cook it in front of you!! Good evening food for all.
I'm such a huge fan of bd's! I was very sad when the one in Irvine closed & one of the best things I learned about Pittsburgh when I moved back was that there was a bd's here! It's just as good as my old local restaurant. I wish it were a bit closer. The food is amazing and you get to pick what they make for you from fresh ingredients. If you haven't been there yet, go soon!!
Always a good selection. Fun cooks. Reasonable price. Sometimes they're not very clear about pricing but still great good. Right in heart of the Southside Works.
Feels a little overpriced given how much you have to do for the meal....but good food!. Okay, let me state that I DO LIKE this restaurant - I find the flavors and sauces to be quite interesting and pleasing. But what we really have here, in its barest essence, is a stir-fry buffet house. You get to walk a row of tables with a bowl selecting your own meats (raw), your own noodles, your own vegetables, you pour (and mix, if you want) your sauces, you add the seasonings you want, then you carry the bowl and sauce over to a massive round grill where a cook will toss and stir the food for a few moments until it's seared through, then you carry it back to your table (on a clean plate - you DO NOT reuse the bowl you were using for the raw foods. They get washed again immediately). This is opposed to your basic Chinese buffet where you get to pick your own foods from a series of already-prepared dishes, and the cost for both styles of restaurants is essentially the same. The cost is actually nominal - its roughly $15.50 here in the Pittsburgh area for an all-you-can-eat dining experience - it's just the level of customer involvement is a bit higher here than your standard restaurant.
With that out of the way, let me reiterate that I DID thoroughly enjoy the food itself. They offer a number of appetizers; we chose the egg rolls. The rolls themselves were VERY tasty. They were accompanied by a traditional spicy mustard sauce and - in place of the more usual duck sauce - a ponzu sauce (which is kind of a citrus soy sauce). I did not find the ponzu sauce particularly appealing, nor did my companion, but the rolls were fine eaten as-is, sans sauces. Also, we availed ourselves of the free bowl of white rice, and my first go-through the buffet line snagged me a delicious plate of pork and various veggies with their barbeque sauce - my second was a slightly more traditional stir-fry mix of chicken and water chestnuts with their teriyaki sauce (to which I added a ladle of their ginger sauce). Both platefuls were extremely tasty, and this place has been added to my list of "yep, this place is a keeper" restaurants.
Best Place Ever.. Everyone that lives in the Burgh should try this place at least once. You can't go wrong here.
They have an endless buffet of different foods, mainly raw foods that you put in a bowl and then the contents go to the grill cook. This oversized round grill can accommodate many different orders from the customers and the cook is very experienced with it. You can stand there and watch your hand picked ingredients being turned into some of the best stir fry that you've ever eaten. There's MANY different meats, seafood, vegetables and sauces to choose from. They only have rice and the regular lo mein types of noodles. No rice for the stir fry but they have brown rice at your table.
There was 9 of us seated together and the waitress was thorough throughout the evening. She was very attentive and although you cannot take anything to go from the buffet, the staff let us all go with a final meal to depart with, since we all tipped the cook and the lone waitress.
The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff was wonderful. Will be going back in a few weeks, for sure. By far one of my favorites places to date.
Love it. I love going for lunch. It's reasonable price for a ton of food. You pick what you want and they grill it. Endless combination options.
I wouldn't suggest going for dinner. It is more expensive and the grill isn't as clean so you get burned bits of food.
A welcome addition to the area.. I am not going to revisit what others have said. You pick the protein, the veggies, the sauce and what it be prepared for you. The only down-side is when they are busy, you can easily wait 15+ minutes before it is your turn to have your food cooked. Thus, if you are limited on time, wait until either they are not busy or you have some time. It is all you can eat for a decent price, get your money's worth
A great addition to the Pittsburgh area. BD's brings a unique dining experience to Pittsburgh. Have had the opportunity to try this place out while in Ohio and was very excited to hear that they are now local. Select your own stir fry ingredients and watch your dinner come to life right in front of you. It's a chain restaurant, but it's very good!
It's No Mystery!. The first Mongolian BBQ I ever went to was in Hawaii (in the Chinese Cultural Center), and I fell in love with the idea and the food.
The concept is simple - Salad Bars filled with various raw meats and veggies, heaped into a bowl, then handed over to the cook to be stir fried on a large steel hibachi. Enjoy!
BD's has same exact concept, albeit less mysterious than the original, since your food is cooked out in the open on a giant steel hibachi, rather than handing your bowl of raw meat and veggies through a mysterious cubby hole, to an anonymous hand, only to have the steaming cooked food come back through the hole.
I HAD NO COMPLAINTS. The meat and veggies looked fresh and clean, chilled appropriately. I went there when both crowded and empty, and had no issues with waiting in a line when it was busy. And as far as the size of the bowl goes, let the moths out of your wallet and pay the few extra dollars for ALL YOU CAN EAT.
I think this place is a great addition to the Pittsburgh Restaurant Scene. Although I prefer the mystery - it keeps the uninitiated away.....
Yummmm!. There is a restaurant in State College called Green Bowl that I was in love with when I attended Penn State. This place is very similar... but even better! Because you can load up your own choice of meats, this place is exceptional (and different from anywhere else). I have been there three times. I never had to wait long for my food because the cooks seem to be very efficient regardless of how many people are in line. The all-you-care-to-eat option is ideal because you can try different combinations (even opting for smaller bowls).
Be smart. Load your bowl up as full as you can. wait until the line is not a mile long, you will be standing for awhile.
One of the best options to eat out plus it is very quick. You choose all the raw meat, veggies, spices, dressing.
The way they grill it up is very nice. Also u can mention them about any allergies and if u want your food to be grilled by non meat sticks and in a different section( I tried showing this in my pics).I just wish they have more outlets covering all states and major cities. Love you guys and keep up the good work. Just a thought, for 15$ for 1 bowl, why not to include a drink? Seems to b the only missing thing.
The food was amazing and great atmosphere the staff was friendly and kind. Loved the food. Highly recommend and will be back for sure
Many options for the food, chicken, beef, pork, white fish, shrimp and tofu as well as many veggies. Also nice salad bar and soup as well.
My first time eating here and it was delicious will definitely come back again. I really enjoy being able to pick my own items and watch them cook my food. I would suggest food trays so that it is easier to carry over food while standing in line. A tray would be perfect for those who like extra sauce and don't want to spill it.
Friendly staff. Nice concept. Choose how you like your noodles, with selection to choose from the veg, seafood, meat, take it to the guys who cook it. Choose the sauces which you like. And you have your bowl! Choice between unlimited.
Everywhere All the time
+5
Never disappointed! They had a special with unlimited bowls and it was delicious!
Everything you can imagine of a 5 star restaurant is there. I recommend to all who is reading this go get what you deserve! The best experience.
Loved the idea of making your own stir Fry. Basically selecting your meat, veggies, salad, soup and not to forget their awesome selection of sauces and spices. All of this for around $12 - pretty slick.
Had an awesome suprise party for my husband(last minute- we're from out of town) there... Management was superb!! service was excellent!! very helpful!!
I love this place - I just wish I could eat more! It looks like a chain restaurant, I'm not sure, but don't skip the soup tucked away in the back corner, they make it fresh daily. The creamy veggie one is fantastic. Clean, friendly service - the waitress actually got me a list of ingredients in the soup because I liked it so much my mom and I want to try to make it. Fun spot.
Awesome food. Excellent staff - very friendly and professional. Delicious deserts. Great option for all - even for vegetarians like me. Many options to pick and choose various combinations. May need many more visits to try all the combinations of food offered there. Very healthy choices along with herbal spices to add to our opted combination of ingredients. Overall one of THE BEST food and experience I had. THANKS.
