As a fairly ordinary, everyday restaurant in the sea of swank that gets all of the attention in the city's downtown dining scene, August Henry's tends to fly a bit under the radar, though it shouldn't! It's in a prime location on Penn Avenue, close to the Convention Center, several hotels and the Cultural District. It offers a giant menu that has something for everyone and the quality of the food is darn good and at a fair price, as are the drinks. The atmosphere is comfortable and unpretentious and the service is prompt and friendly. If you find yourself in downtown wanting something other than a small plate, taco or the latest locally-sourced food craze, this place towers above the other more conventional options in the Golden Triangle.
our server Christy was very pleasant and on top of everything. The sweet potato encrusted chicken breast was delicious and the filet mignon was so tender it melted in your mouth. We will definitely go back for dinner. We highly recommend giving August Henry's a try.
I can tell that this is one of the best burger places in Pittsburgh; fun and cozy. I was in the conversation center and glad to find this res to such a good experience during the lunch break. I ordered the classic burger, and it was well prepared - really, it tasted so good. So, if you are a fan of burgers 🍔, you definitely should visit this place.
I had the opportunity to dine at August Henry's for lunch and was quite impressed. Despite being short-staffed, the single waitress on duty provided excellent service. She was efficient and attentive, a real asset to the restaurant.
I ordered the Smash Burger with fries, requesting the burger to be cooked to pink. My order was delivered promptly, and the meal perfectly met my expectations. The fries were fresh cut, and the burger was cooked exactly as requested.
Overall, the food was delicious, and the service, under the circumstances, was commendable. I highly recommend August Henry's Burger Bar for a satisfying dining experience, even with limited staff.
I was in town for the Browns vs Steelers Monday night game. Got in to this place about 5:30pm. No wait at all! My buddy (Steelers fan 🤮) and me (Browns fan 😎) both decided to get the Ribs and Rogies special. (Rogies are perogies) My first time having perogies I got them “loaded” per the bartender’s recommendation. Very good and tasty, loved the cheese, bacon and chipotle sauce. The ribs were very good as well especially for a bar. Decent draft selection, and great service. Besides this place being in Pittsburgh it’s pretty great.
Excellent food-best seasoned fries Ive had in a while. The zucchini strips are huge! Great shareable apps. Unique cocktails. And good service.
What an excellent lunch. Had the Yinzer Burger with sweet potato fries. The soda was a great size. The service was great. Highly recommend.
Fabulous fried zucchini; highly recommend horseradish sauce with appetizer. Garlic steak wrap incredible! 57 Burger also incredibly good. Tahlya, wait staff, BEST!
I wasn't hungry enough to try one of their burgers, but I'll definitely go back and try one next time (I've heard they're great and they say they're a burger bar, so...). However, I love that I got to try things on the menu I wouldn't have tried otherwise.
My friend and I split the quesadilla and Buffalo chicken dip and they were both delicious. The Buffalo chicken dip comes with baby naan! And if you run out, they'll bring you more. The naan minis are delicious and could easily be eaten on their own. The dip and quesadilla were also very good.
Our service was AMAZING. Kristy was very helpful, and brought our drinks and food quickly. She wasn't hovering or there TOO much, but was always there when we needed her. Ask for Kristy when you go to August Henry's. She was wonderful and very friendly.
The happy hour prices are also killer. $3 drinks (including Captain and other name brands - not just well), wines (generous pours from what I saw), & beers (don't know the lists there, since I don't drink beer and didn't really pay attention). Plus, you can get happy hour prices ANYWHERE in the restaurant. We did not sit in the bar. I'll definitely go back to August Henry's. I look forward to our next visit!
First time in Pittsburgh, and we are glad we found this place. The food, service, and overall experience was great. Each burger was perfectly prepared. You have to try the Buffalo Dip and the Funnel Cake Fries.
Fun bar. Great service. The pierogi's are awesome and the fried mushrooms are also. Stopped in for drinks and snacks. The margarita slushie is off the hook!
My son and I visited this restaurant in February 2020 and let me tell you the food was fantastic 👌 😋. We had the meatlovers burger OMG, 🍔. I had a cocktail called Sweet Ernie, that was one of the best drinks I've had in years. My sons 30th BD was on the same day of the game so we had an awesome weekend. By the way the Penquins won that game too 😁😁. I'm from Philadelphia but I have always rep the BURGH teams. I'll be visiting August Henry again this year when we come back for our first Steelers game can't wait. The staff was very welcoming and the vibe was really kool.
Thank you so much for that memorable experience 🤗.
