Went last night for the first time after dining many times for lunch at the Strip location. We had an excellent meal and great service and will return soon. I had the fish taco app- it was spicy and tasty. My wife had the shrimp, which I tasted and was also spicy and very good. I had the special and my only knock is that it was too much food. Two large filets with skin on, and one was more than enough. The preparations were very unique and flavorful.
The best!. Love this place. The fish sandwiches and salads are amazing. My favorite lunch spot in the strip.
Great Seafood in a tight space. If you want your space you won't get it here, but who cares the food is awesome. The sushi rolls were delightful and the fish (sea bass and cobis) perfectly grilled. We added a dockside salad and had a wonderful meal. The best part was that it's BYOB with no corkage fee. Entrees are somewhat pricy, but for date night or special occasion I highly recommend it.
I had the best sushi experience at Penn Avenue Fish Company! I went with a group of friends and everyday I think about the delicious food and the great service! We arrived around lunchtime and it was crowded so my first thought was "Wow this place must be really good!" I had a hard time deciding what to eat though since there were a lot of sushi rolls and they all sounded so good. My indecisiveness ended up working to my advantage when our wonderful waitress (I think her name was Angel? If that wasn't her name she was definitely still an angel to us!!) was nice enough to bring us an assortment of her recommendations. She was so kind even though she was busy with all the customers there too. All of her recommendations were fantastic and we ended up demolishing over 10 rolls (maybe even more!). I recommend this place to everyone I know, and will continue to do so!
Great Sushi. By far the best and most creative sushi in downtown Pittsburgh, but the prices are a bit skewed (highly) when compared to the other options. You can get a lot more sushi for the price elsewhere.
But again, best and most creative sushi downtown. You get what you pay for.
Penn Avenue Fish Company is STILL open and doing great! My favorite place for sushi and it's BYOB!
Amazing Dinner. I went to Penn Ave for dinner this weekend with a few friends from out of town. Being one of my favoitie spots I wanted them to experince how great this place really is. Our dining experience was fantastic as always. We sat downstairs ( a first time for me) and loved it. Our favorite server, Angel took great care of us and made our guest feel extra special. We started with sushi and each had an entree. I tried someting new this time. The grouper. I think its my new favorite. The fish itself was cooked to perfection but the cheesy grits stole the show. We each got a dessert but I think I got the best one, the vanilla cheesecake. It was light and creamy and may have been the best that I have ever had- sorry grandma. The atmosphere is so fun and upbeat and I love that its BYOB. We will be back this weekend!
Good Sushimi. Went there for lunch downtown. Good sushimi...wish the place was bigger...way too crowded for lunch. I recommend but go early - fills up quickly at Noon
Like it, but go to the Strip. I really like PAFC, but I really like the Strip location much more. The food is great here, but I prefer the ambiance of the REAL Penn Ave Fish Co.

Great find!. The pretty girl sushi roll with soy wrap was unique and delicious. The swordfish tasted amazing. What a great find in downtown outside of the cultural district!
The food is very good with the seafood being very fresh. However, for the price, the portions are quite small. The interior of the place is also very cool and love that there is seating on one side. The salmon I ordered was well cooked and the vegetables along with it paired well.
Overall GREAT!! I had the Sneaky Pete Sandwich and my partner had the crab cake sandwich, which was tasty. The bread was soft and the side of spicy tuna roll was super fresh.
This place is amazing! First all, it’s byob which is always a good thing. Go pick up a good bottle or wine or a six pack before coming in. We came during oyster happy hour ($1 per oyster). They were delicious and the service was fast! We couldn’t help but try a variety of sushi rolls and they did not disappoint. The spicy crab roll and spicy senorita roll were both very unique and something I’ll be dreaming of! I’m not sure I can eat sushi anywhere else in pittsburgh…Penn Avenue Fish Co, you have spoiled me! We will be back many more times!
One of Pittsburgh’s best places for fresh sushi. I stop here any chance I can, which isn’t too often but every time it is absolutely worth every penny. The experience is like nothing else you’ll find in the city, offering a wide range of sushi and seafood variety. This spot tends to get pretty busy during the lunch rush, but thankfully their 5 star staff can handle just about any volume to make sure you get served in a timely manner.

Pittsburgh's gem of a seafood mecca!
Right in the heart of Pittsburgh's historic Strip District is a seafood lover's paradise!
I had the specialty of the day spicy sushi offering and the lobster bisque and it took everything not to order again and again! The sushi was incredibly fresh and the lobster bisque was creamy and filled with hearty vegetables and chunks of lobster!
Everything from sushi to smoked salmon hot and cold salads and scrumptious soups bisques and chowders
Whether you reside in Pittsburgh or plan to visit and you are a seafood lover you would do yourself a great disservice if you don't place Penn Avenue Seafood Company on your bucket list of restaurants to visit.
And you wanna know what's even BETTER than the seafood???? THE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to do their part to ensure the visit there was 100% enjoyable and certainly memorable.
Go...check them out....say hello to Henry and the rest of the staff....you certainly won't regret it.

After years of going to wholeys for my fish, we decided to stop into Penn ave fish co. I was looking for yellowtail for sashimi. I asked and they said they’re in large portions used for their sushi, which I understood. 5 minutes later, the owner Henry came over with a fillet of yellowtail, portioned it out for me and 100% made my day.
We tried their sushi and it was some of the best I’ve had.
Service, experience, and food was top notch. They gained a new customer.
Hands down the best sushi in Pittsburgh! They also serve very high quality fish and shellfish. Although we came today for a quick lunch, you can also have a classy but casual dinner here. The atmosphere of the place is seaside nautical meets industrial loft. It’s modern and chic without being pretentious. The place is clean and the servers and chefs are very friendly and helpful in explaining an obscure menu item.
Excellent everything. Amazing menu items, pre made foods, soups, fresh market items. And they have lots of canned and jarred goods. The little market has fun items. Got the fantasy roll, salmon roll and 3 fish tacos. Fire.
Got some really good quality fish for sushi. The guy who helped with the order was super helpful. Will definitely be going back for more.
