Had my memory there and today is the last day the are being in business.
Is the busiest day I have seen since I go there quite often over in 3 years probably because of the article.
The Chicken wings were sold out since everyone wanted to order them.
So far my experience has been positive, maybe I didn’t have much expectation, maybe it reminds me of my childhood.
I went there not for the food but for the history and memory that came with it.
Sadly there’s one less place remain that’s witnessed the golden era of the Philadelphia Chinatown.
Best wish to all of them and we’ll see what the future holds.
Farewell, Tasty place.
This place is truly a gem hidden away in a basement in Chinatown. I visited on a early Sunday afternoon and it wasn't busy. I decided to order the salted wings as per the many recommendations I read online, and I was not disappointed. They were truly good.
I wish I was feeling more adventurous, but I decided to go with a dish I am familiar with, and one that isn't actually traditional - general tso chicken. Again, I was amazed how this preparation was so much better than the numerous other general tso chickens I have had in the past.
Service was excellent.
Food is delicious especially the chicken wing, price is inexpensive as well. It is hard to find since it is inside the basement of Asian supermarket. Small place with limited seating so I️ used to get take out
Delicious Foods and Inexpensive Prices. Tasty Place has been in business ever since I was a kid. The quality of the food is exceptional and each dish is really tasty. For a quick take out or dine in. I would highly recommend eating here for lunch and or dinner. One of my favorite is the seafood chow mein. I would highly recommend it if this is your first time here.
Don't let the restaurant being in the basement next to a supermarket sway your decision to eat here. Tasty Place is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city and you can't beat the price anywhere. The food comes out very fast and everything you order is GOOD!
This is your hole in the wall restaurant. It's cold, fluorescently light, conjoined with an Asian supermarket that has frogs and fish floating around right next to you, and its still amazingly good. The servers there speak broken English, but they understand you enough to provide good service. Order the beef ho fun and the salt baked chicken wings and/or squid. I could eat here every day
Great food at an inexpensive price, a real hidden gem. A hole in the wall, so not a place to take in the atmosphere but the value and quality can't be beat. No sign outside, located at the back of Chinatown Market.
Whoa. Talk about a hidden gem! Look for the yellow banner, walk down the stairs into the supermarket, and Tasty Place is on the right. Small place with no frills, limited seating, and complementary hot tea. Do yourself a favor and order the salt baked wings (12 pieces in a large). Wontons are handmade in house - a rarity these days!
An example of not judging a book by its cover.
The food was excellent, better than I have had at
most 3-5 star chinese restaurants.
The veggies were fresh and we got served each a platter.
More food than we could eat and the price is very good.
I will go back here. Definately!
One of my favorite places in Chinatown. It's a hole in the wall, but the food is so good!!! Reasonably priced, huge portions,no pretense just straightforward good food like my mom use to cook for me in the Cantonese style of cooking..
