After living in Japan it’s safe to say I felt the food was delicious and authentic. I have been trying to find authentic Japanese food that reminds me of my time in Japan and this place takes the cake. I loved the service, the decor, and the ambiance. I recommend getting the vegetable and shrimp tempura as well as the dessert set. The tempura was light and crispy, the miso soup was delicious and beautifully presented and the chocolate mousse was to die for! The server was so kind and gave me bread pudding on the house to celebrate! I can’t wait to come again!

Stumbled upon Zama randomly exploring near our hotel and it did not disappoint. The spicy lump crab roll may have been the best sushi I’ve ever had. Appetizers to dessert were delicious. I appreciated and atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend.

Dining at Zama sushi in Philadelphia was an experience to remember. Nestled amongst the city's culinary gems, Zama has rightfully earned its place in our top 10 favorite sushi spots. The ambiance of the restaurant sets the tone for an intimate and upscale dining affair. Starting with drinks, the cucumber saketini was refreshingly crisp, offering a perfect balance of sweet and tart, while the penicillin with Japanese whiskey showcased a harmonious blend of smokiness and tang. Moving on to the food, the pork dumplings were succulent, with a savory filling that tantalized the taste buds. The edamame, though simple, was seasoned perfectly, setting the stage for what was to come. The rock shrimp tempura was a delightful surprise, crispy on the outside yet tender inside. The sushi rolls were the real showstopper. The tuna avocado roll and sesame salmon roll were fresh and packed with flavor. The Philly style roll was a unique take, merging the iconic cheesesteak flavors with traditional sushi - an adventurous and tasty blend. Lastly, the rainbow black belt roll was a beautiful medley of fish on top of a sumptuous roll, a feast for both the eyes and palate. Every bite at Zama was a journey of flavors, solidifying its reputation as a must-visit in Philadelphia.

Great quality Japanese food. All the dishes were incredible, with very fresh sushi. Do not skip the dessert! They are the perfect small sweet bites to end a meal. However, the service took forever. We had to stay for three hours just because it was too slow.

Vegetarian options are limited, but the veggie roll was delicious. We got the mushroom dish and also ordered bao buns separately. It was adequate. The service was very good.

The Penicillin cocktail was a fusion of Japanese whiskey, scotch, honey, ginger, and lemon. The balance of flavors was impeccable, with the smoky notes of the whiskey harmonizing beautifully with the citrusy zing of lemon and ginger, and the soothing sweetness of honey. It was a true palate pleaser. The Cucumber Sake Martini mixed sake, vodka, and cucumber water in a refreshing and inventive way. The cucumber water lent a crisp, cooling quality to the drink, while the sake added a slight sweetness, and the vodka provided a subtle kick. It was a perfect accompaniment to the sushi dishes, cleansing the palate between bites.

This place is hands down the best sushi spot in the city, if not my favorite of all time! I absolutely adore sitting at the sushi counter during lunch, it adds a special touch to the experience. My go-to dish here is definitely the seared tuna with truffle oil. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Give it a try and thank me later for introducing you to this culinary delight!

We had the Chef's tasting menu. You get a paper what comes with it, and it was a nice experience. We also ordered the escargot, Brussel sprout and bacon, and the short rib appetizers. The overall experience was great. We also ordered oysters which were good, but I was not a fan of the shot sauce that it comes with. I would definitely recommend this place on the chef's tasting menu.

First time at Zama and I would definitely go back. My husband and I did the chefs tasting menu. Price wise it’s totally worth it. Much less expensive than other tasting menus you’d find in the city. Dishes tasted great and were of decent size. We did order 2 other things on the menu so we were a good stuffed. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable and plates came out at a good pace. Didn’t have to wait long between dishes. All in all I’d definitely go back. It’s the day after and I’m already craving it again.

Great sushi restaurant. Service and food were all amazing. Everything was super fresh and the rice texture was on point (the most important thing for me when it comes to sushi). The only downside is the price. The restaurant is a bit pricey, but worth the experience.
