Review Morning Star Restaurant - New York City

Really love this place! Been here multiple times during my stay in New York, the staff is nice and the food is good. A great menu with lot's of options.

The staff is so nice and the food amazing. We went to breakfast every day in our trip, I recommend 100%.

They have grits here! And they were good! Somewhat chunky, but otherwise with a thick yet gritty consistency that almost made me forget I was north of the Mason Dixon Line. What a great find! I needed to add salt & butter, but so delightedly surprised to discover such tasty grits in Manhattan! Service was attentive, as I typically drink a lot of water. Our coffees were continuously topped off. And, at no point did we ever feel rushed. We were offered two different open tables, our orders promptly taken, and our food swiftly brought. Great breakfast prices for Midtown, as well.

Very good Service by Kiana - The Pork Chops were very good; the Lobster Ravioli had CHUNKS of lobster on the top, which I mistook for chicken pieces; the Duck L'orange was outstanding. Would definately re-visit

Extremely good tasty American cousine. I'd go fat so fast if it was next door to me. Highly recommended. Quick service, took 7mins to prepare both meals. Had tuna club sandwich. Wow. Absolutely stunning!

A nice sweet spot. You must get their sweet potato fries....or there regular fries. The sweet potato fries are firm and not limp and greasy. We went around 10pm and even though there were other people there, it was quiet. A very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I'll be back....

We were in town for a few days and actually went here twice! The food was great but it all boiled down to Alicia, our waitress. We were there for a few hours each time and she kept the mimosa's coming! She truly made us feel welcome and I had to hug her. She's amazing!!

Nice place, had breakfest there a couple of times, attentive service, accurately had all my requests followed, good food, they even have cappuccino (though American in nature...)

Fair prices, fast service, good eggs. Nice view of NYC streets

Friendly server, nice portions for the price, and tasty food. I reccomend the Irish breakfast with an Italian coffee!

One of the best brunchs near central park. Good service.

Great food, good value. The banana pancakes were excellent.

A great local place for breakfast. Stuff is friendly enough for NY. Tips included into the bill ;)

We came here to grab a quick breakfast! The place is simple and relaxed with very friendly staff. We got some basic eggs and bacon with orange juice. Everything tasted very good and I enjoyed my orange juice that I got another one. I will definitely be visiting this place more regularly.

Came here for breakfast with my Mum two days in a row because it was so great. The same lovely waitress served us both times and I wish I got her name so I could mention her here but I forgot to ask! Food came quickly and was great quality - just great, honest, tradition breakfast food!

Personel is as nice as the three eggs combination with bacon. Which was delicious.

The food is priced accordingly for what you get. On the day our party of 4 visited it was very short staffed. 1 or 2 woman were running around trying to serve everybody. I appreciate the effort but I don't like to worry when my next coffee cup will be refilled. Some orders weren't right but what can you do. The waitresses had enough problems as it were.

The penne vodka was excellent and they have a great wine selection to go with it! The man behind the counter even offered us a free cocktail as they are trying out a new cocktail menu! Great spot for a quiet intimate dinner especially if you want to people watch! Just moved into the neighborhood so will definitely be going back.

While in town it was our go to place for breakfast. Really good food and great service. Best bacon I’ve ever had. They even have cheese grits for us southern girls.

Suffering from jet lag and in need of a quick bite to keep our energy levels up this place came to our rescue. A charming little place where the service was impeccable and my chicken club sandwich to die for! Thanks you Morning Star you have set my expectation level for the rest of New York very high.

We had breakfast here today and the food and service was excellent so we decided to have dinner. I can honestly say the food tonight was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Also best New York cheesecake I have tasted x x x

This is my newest great find! The service was warm, fast & friendly. Good, hot coffee and the best Eggs Benedict I’ve had since the Ritz Carlton. I’ll be back...

First time at Morning Star. The food was fantastic. The service was even better. Great location and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it!

Great food, huge portion, reasonable prices and quick service. People line up to squeeze in, only this is a sign of delicious food.

It was good but not the best I’ve had. The good could have been seasoned a little better and been hotter.

After a film at Landmark 57, this is the BEST place to eat! Had a great dinner with the friendliest owner checking on us. Fairly priced, big portions, unpretentious atmosphere. Will definitely return!

Fab food and excellent service despite being extremely busy on a Monday morning. They're salmon Benedict was as good as any that I've had in Colorado. Mildly smoked salmon, and perfect poached eggs. Morning Star is now favorite brunch spot!

After suffering the. Restaurant 1 block up the street, found Morning Star and we were hooked. Went 3 times for breafast. The salmon benediction was my husband's favorite. I enjoyed the lox and bagels supreme. The owner Costa is a delight and the staff knows about customer service. Lovely!

Was my first time visiting New York. Even more Amazing than I had imagined place to visit and wonderful tasty food to match at Morning Star!

It's a landmark! Hopstop, Google, etc... If the walls could talk... The new look and menu keeps it current. My location for personal moments, conversation, etc... for people that matter to me... To top it off... they've installed a full bar!
Bonnie Tandy Leblang - BITE OF THE BEST
We had tickets to see Juilliard students perform the “New Dances: Edition 2017” at the Peter Jay Sharp theater and needed to find a place for a quick bite as the performance began at 7:30 pm. That job is usually delegated to me. In addition to proximity, I had to be price conscious. I made a reservation at Morning Star Restaurant in Lincoln Square, a diner-like restaurant that answered both concerns even better than I had anticipated.

Very good eggs Benedict - had to send home fries back (cold and obviously sitting out). Waitress was efficient and very friendly - fixed me up with a fresh side ASAP. Good coffee - can add liquor, a generous pour.

Terrible food, slow service
Not recommended, surprisingly this place is even open in a great NYC capital of a good food
Sadly disappointed

Great Food @ Great Price. We stayed close to Morning Star in March 2014. The food was wonderful and the prices were great. The service was great and they even remembered us when we went back the next evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

First place I ate in New York and I loved it! The French toast was one of the bests I've had and the staff was friendly and prices were reasonable, would definitely come back!
Melissa Berry
I gave this place a shot twice. Both times the service was horrible. The severes ignore you, never refill coffee or water. Both servers did this... No smile, no checking back, nothing. The food is not terrible and the prices fair.

Love it!!. We stopped here for breakfast the morning after we arrived in NYC (staying at the Holiday Inn W 57th -- very convenient). The waitress was so friendly and the food so good that it became our daily starting point! Everything cooked to order very well. The greek yogurt with fresh fruit, honey, and granola was outstanding. Prices very reasonable. All staff and owner very friendly. Will definitely return!

A friendly little place near the Holiday Inn on 56th where you can get good food for a fairly cheap price.

Prices are decent. Bread could be better. Salad dressing is good. Salad is decent. Bison Burger Delux was GOOD. Chili over rice was good but on the spicy side. Service is nice. Clean little place.

Food is very good. Great friendly service. Very clean and also attentive staff.

Meh. My parents used to love this place before it shut down temporarily. We went last week after they reopened. Service was terrible. We had to wave our server down every time. She brought us waters with one ice cube in each. The burger was good, not great. My mother and sister had late breakfast and said it was not very good. Maybe they're still getting their act together because I believe it was only the second day reopened but I don't plan on going back...

Fast, friendly, affordable.. I had lunch here several weeks ago. It was extremely busy, but they found me a great seat almost as soon as I walked in. I had their soup of the day (lentil), which was good and very hot, a fantastic grilled cheese and bacon sandwich, and a diet coke for about $9.00. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes.

On a side note, I walked in about 11 PM a few nights later in a snow storm to grab a cup of coffee to go. Again, fast, friendly and affordable.

One of my favorite greasy spoons in NYC. Always open and hardly a food exists that is not on the menu.
