Review Waldy's Wood Fired Pizza & Penne - New York City

Fantastic taste and fresh ingredients.. I would give this place a 5 star for food but 3 star for dine in.. the place needs tidying up and also some furniture upgrades.. as they have wood fired options, there is no option for a slice.. there small pizza which serves one is also of good size so its a super value for money. i had the Margherita pizza. they so give free drink on dine in if u order between 11-4pm

The pizza had the thinnest crust that I ever seen. The crust was as crispy and thin as matzo. The sauce, mozzarella, goat cheese, garlic, & mushrooms on my custom pie were delicious. There is no restroom available here and the dining area leaves much to be desired. It may be a good idea to plan carryout or delivery from this place.

If you find yourself in midtown Manhattan craving a slice, Waldy's is a great spot. The restaurant feels comfortable and their staff are extremely friendly! Pizza was delicious, served hot. If you're coming to visit on a summer day be prepared to sweat because they don't have AC. But the pizza was worth it!

Freshly baked and very affordable for the quality of pizza they serve! They also prepare it fast too. Had an enjoyable meal with their pepperoni pizza with broccoli and will definitely be back for more! Delicious 🤤

Very welcome staff, good place to eat thin crust pizza... may be they should use another cheese type to make more delicious. Good prices.

Follow me on Instagram @AbiteOUTwithJACK This place SUCKS if you're looking for a New York 99cent slice... If you're looking for the freshest, tastiest, thinnest, yummiest pizza... This is your spot! Fried eggplant, zucchini and olives! I'm drooling from this post... BTW... Pizza in the photo is the pizza for two... (I ate the whole thing!) JS10!!! I can't wait to do it again!

Waldy is seriously our favorite place in NYC! Any pizza combo is good; and the Caesar salad too. Everything is so fresh and tasty. We 2 people easily kill the large one and never minded leftovers though that rarely happens.

Good pizza, cheap drinks, nice low-key spot. Love how thin the pizza crusts are also, and the toppings options are varied and all very good!

Never judge a book by its cover, the outside is nothing special unlike their pizzas which are amazing, the best we have ever tasted 🍕🍕and we've tasted a few. Definitely worth a visit, can't recommend it highly enough 👏👏

Stopped in yesterday afternoon to grab a bite to eat with my mom. We shared a small cheese wood fired pizza & it hit the spot! Cute little place!

Easily some of the best pizza in the city. I love the sausage and red peppers. I NEVER order those things on a pizza but here at Waldy’s it’s amazing!

Best artesianal pizza in the city! Me and my gf's goto when we're in the area. And when we're not, we go out of our way to have some Waldy's! Love this gem!

Yum yum! Delicious pizza at a good value! It’s easy to see why Wally’s gets such a great rating. We needed a snack before checking into our hotel and this place hits the spot!

This pizza joint was right around the corner from our hotel, and we had to try it. They don't serve boring round pizzas - theirs are shaped like oars (of different lengths), and they'll put just about anything on them!

the crust is thin and tasty, and the pizza comes out really quick.

The girl behind the counter was very patient with us, because we couldn't figure out what we wanted to do, but when the food came out, it was fantastic! It was so good, both families that were there bought another one to take back to the hotel for later (or breakfast the next morning)!

Thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful Pizza is how I can describe the delicious margarita pizza. Thin, crisp and yummy. Lovely crust, not chewy at all. A must eat if you love Pizza.

IT'S NOT REALLY PIZZA. OK, I'm a native New Yorker and as far as pizza is concerned... this is something else. First off, the sauce is really not a pizzaesque sauce. It is weird, but it's alright. It's not a full bodied, slightly sweet, oniony/garlicy type of sauce that New Yorkers typically expect. It's good but the main problem I have with it is the salt content. WAY too much salt. Pizza's magic single most ingredient is the sauce...and this? Not pizza sauce. It is a thin crust pizza and it's very thin. Moist thin. Cheese is on the skimpy side. Toppings are also skimpy and expensive. After ordering a large pizza with four toppings it came to around $32! I'm a big guy and my wife is petite and we polished the whole thing off in one sitting...no problem.
That being said the braised lamb and lemon was different and delicious but not really pizza. It's probably their signature pie. More of a middle eastern amalgam. The brocoli rabe and let's say ricotta cheese with onions is great also great. The staff is great. The draught brooklyn lager cold and fresh and the fresh herb garden is genius. But, the salty sauce... needs to be really really worked on.

I ate here 3 times in 8 days! Translate that to scrumptious! It was near to my HGI hotel, that is how I chose this shop the first day. It was so delicious with its wood fired taste, I was in love wirh the flavor. Atmosphere relaxed. All sorts of creative combination toppings, different than the midwestern selections I am accustomed to. You even get to chop onto your own pizza some fresh herbs rish from their live herb selection. I will be back on my next trip to NYC! Might I alao add, besides the great pizza, it is a great value!! Staff friendly and accomidating, as well. A+

Waldy's Pizza. I'm a native from Brooklyn, but I've been living in New Oleans for the past 20 years. Let me tell you as an old native, this is great pizza. I'm not kidding when I say you can close your eyes and pretend you're in Italy. Just a little place so eating in can be a problem. We were staying at the Double Tree in Chelsea so it worked out perfectly. I wish this was a chain.

Awesome thin crust pizza...but who runs out of Pilsner on a Thurs. night in NY!

Awesome pizza & delicious draught beer!

Delicious! I had the sausage & red pepper pizza and it was amazing. The margherita pizza is also outstanding. If ever in NY again I would love to visit Waldy's again.
Sally
Super tasty pizza. The margherita pizza was awesome! Not too much sauce, I felt that they used quality ingredients, and it was fresh and hot. The crust is very very thin which I enjoyed but my friend did not feel fully satisfied from eating 1/2 a med. pizza. Overall, I would definitely return.

A different shape, but good flavor!. Waldy's takes a different shape (oval) on the traditional pizza pies, but they offer tantalizing menu of pizza and not just the standard cheese or pepperoni. I had the standard margherita and mushroom and onion. Next time I'll try the clam with garlic and sausage and roasted peppers. The crust is thin - which is standard fare for NY or else they'd be out of business. The only few negatives is the limited tables and no bathroom on the premises.

The best ever!! This Pizza makes my day - everytime! I am totally hooked to this crispy freshness!! Especially lovely are the juicy herbs we can pick from to top things off. You can take your boss here, and he will be delighted with your lunch spot choice!

Perfect post pay check. Unlike some of the other places in the area, this is worth what you pay for. While you might pay $8 upwards for a 1-person pizza, it's absolutely worth it. The lamb and lemon is particularly good, and accompanied by some of the fresh herbs or oils that are on the shelf, makes an excellent lunch. Try and avoid the peak lunch rush, as it's a small joint with seating for only about 14.
I've heard the penne is also really decent.

This place serves pizza with a gourmet twist, and was our favorite pizza on the trip. The thin crust and wood-fired ovens pushed it ahead of other places that we tried. Here's a recap from Friday: The destination was Waldy's Pizza , just a few blocks from Penn Station and a few blacks from our hotel. The restaurant was crowded, but we found a small table and enjoyed our (very) thin crust lamb, roasted lemon and basil, and prosciutto, roasted asparagus and Parmesan pizzas. There is also a little herb garden with potted herbs for customers to put on the pizzas, as well as garlic-infused olive oil f

...a place along with its very good pizza, has a self full of fresh herbs that you can snip off yourself to actually season your fired Pizza with does deserve a mention.

Delicious wood-fired pizza and fantastic penne dishes are what you can expect to get at Waldy's Wood Fired Pizza & Penne in Chelsea . Near the main counter, you will find a crate full of fresh herbs that you can snip off by hand or with their shears and sprinkle them onto your meal. They've got the essential herbs: thyme, oregano, rosemary, parsley, and basil. My favorite items off the menu are the classics: Margherita pizza and Mozzarella & Tomato Penne . Both are cooked in their wood-fired oven and the sauces are perfectly seasoned. The pizza served at Waldy's is thin, and crispy. Toppings range from the usual like sausage, mushrooms to more exotic combinations like Arugula, Garlic & Sunny Side Eggs or Arugula, Garlic & Sunny Side Eggs Pizza . There are three sizes of pies available - small, medium, and large. If ordering a pizza for one, just get a small pie. Prices range from $6.50 to $9. Not bad for a meal in NYC. The penne, or shall we call it Mac n Cheese, comes in three varieti
