We stopped in at 2 Sisters N Da East -- also known as 2 Sisters Out East or just 2 Sisters -- thanks to my curiosity. A couple of years ago, we were in New Orleans the first week of November, and we'd driven all over the area close to Six Flags New Orleans, looking at abandoned lots and roadways. Having already had lunch, we weren't really searching out a restaurant for dining, but there was a place along US Highway 90, also known as Chef Menteur, that looked promising. I bookmarked it in my mind for later.
Average. Location and parking- good
atomosphere- mom and pop shop
customer service- ok, but leaves something to be desired. (Only had one waitress both times I went).
Pricings- Great! Each order also comes with a hugh piece of buttery cornbread, garden salad (shredded lettuce, slice of tomato, and 2 pieces of pickle), and potato salad.
My experiences: 2/13/2014 ordered Red Beans and Rice (great) with Stuffed Bell Peppers (had more filler than meat). I also ordered the peach cobbler (was just okay). The garden salad was just that... a salad. The potato salad was awesome! The sweet cornbread was great! I ordered lemonaid and it was very sweet. There's a reason they give you a cup of water too! My first time there was an awesome experience that left me telling everyone about it!
However, I wish the same could have been said the second time I went on 3/18/2014. I ordered White Beans and Rice (okay) with fried Catfish (very bland). The potato salad was bland and dry. The garden sald was still just that... a salad. Cornbread was great. I had lemonaid and it was sweet, but not as sweet as the first visit.
Also, I wasn't impressed with their mac and cheese. It looked like it was made with powered cheese opposed to making it from strach. My assumption was confirmed by my co-worker when she tasted it. It seem like the cook fell from grace on that visit.
Great food. I had the shrimp & okra...my, it was delicious! My son had the catfish plate and he enjoyed it. Great, friendly service and wonderful food!
Best Soul food in a long time. Best soul food I've had in a long time. Big portions that come out quick. You'll get fed and leave satisfied (and with a little bit to go as well) for about 10 bucks. Not much to look at as a restaurant, but everything else there rocks.
A bit pricey but the food is WORTH IT!!! Love sisters in the east!!! Hope they get enough business to stay open!!!
We got a chicken dinner and split it between two people and still couldn't finish it, it comes with so much food.
Service was fast and friendly.
The food was delicious. Everything is homemade. I can't express how delicious the rice and gravy, Mac and cheese, potato salad, and fried chicken were.
We fed two people for less than $20! Less than $20 with high quality food! You can't even do that at McDonald's.
If you're visit from out of state, definitely leave the downtown area and visit here.
Some of the best food I've ever had in a restaurant! I traveled from Illinois and this place is great food, service and super fast.
Me and my boyfriend went to this place for the first tim and we left there stuffed. The staff is extremely friendly and can I say the food was-Delicious!! A great deal for your money! We are definitely are going back. Heads up...their menu changes daily.
Hands down the best soul food I have had in years!!! I read reviews on Google and YouTube about places while traveling before I sleep, eat drink, sleep .. I'm just that kind of guy. Two sisters was a clean establishment from what I saw in the eating area and was cozy, felt like I was at home! The waitress was wonderful and very attending drinks (sweet tea and water) stayed refilled. I was a little shaky due to a couple bad reviews but I'm not one to call people Liars but ummmm🤔🤔🤔 That was not and nowhere near the experience I had... thank you two sisters for having a wonderful establishment that I will return to from DC again and again and again to dine at!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so shocked at the other reviews that was not satisfied. This place is under rated. They can have my money any day. I ate here this is my third time and every meal was amazing. The staff are so nice and friendly. Makes u feel like you are their sister too. Food hot and steaming best southern food in New Orleans. In my life actually. My dad took me here slot as a teenager now I’m 30 and would recommend this place to anyone looking for real authentic soul food. Portions are over the top and I get to have left overs each time we’ll worth the money. Try them

Great place in New Orleans to get traditional soul food. Service is pretty quick and food is good. If you in the East you already know about this place, but if you are visiting from out of town make sure you cross the high rise and come try something off the ventured path for some classic soul food.
I live in Texas was visiting m y sisters and FAMILY WENT OUT TO HAVE LUNCH AT THIS HOME COOKING RESTAURANT VERY VERY GOOD FOOD. ALSO OWNERS WERE GREAT.
Stopped in for breakfast on Saturday, no wait for a table. Enjoyed the crispy fried catfish with grits and fresh coffee 😊
