It was a long torturous 2 hour wait in the heat, but in the end was so worth it. They had complimentary bottles of water for those waiting. It was neat to see people from all over, speaking different languages, and all waiting for the same thing. Our waitress, Chi, was sweet and checked on us often, despite the hectic pace in the restaurant. The food was AMAZING!! Everything from the fried chicken to the veal, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. We also recommend the fresh squeezed lemonade, bread pudding, and corn bread.

The food was delicious. The Fried Chicken which is their signature dish, String Beans, Rice & Gravy, MAC & Cheese, Candy Yams and Muffins all delicious. Great place to visit. It was a 2 hour wait and it was well worth the wait. I’ll be back and bring more people.

When I visit New Orleans..I always make a stop @ Willie Mae’s! What I enjoy about Willie Mae’s is the consistency and quality of food! There is always a line..but understand the food is ‘cooked to order’ The service is great..the vibe is super friendly and the food is ALWAYS 5 STAR QUALITY! This last visit we had a wonderful sever named ‘Candy’…she made this visit so much fun! Thank you Willie Mae’s for ALL the years of cooking AMAZING SOUL FOOD!

I live in Florida and have been there about 3 times. The fried chick and sides were excellent. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. There is something about the breading that makes it special. The service was good and all the sides were excellent. The place don't seat many people so and there is usually a wait so get there early. The neighborhood is kinda sketchy but if you go during the day time the only problem is finding parking. Since this place has become legendary, and rightfully so the prices has gone up quite a bit. If you want to eat the best chicken around definitely worth it though.

Oh my God. This was the best fried chicken I had ever had. So crunchy and juicy. It was super flavorful. I got dark meat fried chicken, mac and cheese and a corn muffin. The corn muffin was excellent as well, moist and buttery. The mac and cheese was good but I've had better. The price was reasonable for as many awards as they have. I went later and I didn't have to wait. I just walked in. The hours have changed on some days and my uber driver was worried that hey would be closed but they were open till 8. There are benches outside if there is a wait. There is a sign to scan to add yourself to the wait list if there is a line.

In the top for sure, but not the world's best as they say. For me there are four features a great fried chicken should have: crunchiness, juiciness, spiciness and a good meat to bone ratio, Willie Mae's excels in the first three, but falls short in the meat to bone ratio. The line is way too long for a dish like fried chicken that you can get anywhere else with, probably lower, but similar quality if you look hard, we spent 1 hour waiting for a table for two. We spent 17.25 dollar having the classic 3 piece fried chicken with a side. I wanted to highlight the attention, we were in a rush to catch a flight and the waiter was extremely efficient.

One of the best meals I had in New Orleans. Everything was good. Wouldn't say it was the best fried chicken I ever had but definitely a quality recipe. Butter beans and cornbread were good aswell. Highly recommend. This one is definitely worth the wait.

Never disappoints. I've come here for 30 years. There is no better food in New Orleans or the world for that matter. Keep it basic fried chicken and red beans. Pure perfection. You will see a line, yet if you have to wait this is definitely the place. Scan the QR; grab a spot and chat up the other guest.

We stopped by Willie Mays for a late lunch today we waited about 40 minutes to be seated, it was well worth the wait.. We ordered the three piece fried chicken with mac & cheese and peas and a salad with grilled chicken a side of red beans and rice. The chicken is absolutely amazing!. Red beans and rice was also great! It is a must stop when you are in New Orleans.

BEST FRIED CHICKEN! When we arrived there was a massive line but it moved pretty quickly, we waiting about 30 minutes. Our waitress was extremely friendly and professional! The food came quick considering how busy they were. I had the fried chicken with dark meat, the chicken sandwich, and the fried chicken tenders. Nothing tasted too heavy or greasy, everything was perfect and definitely something you have to try when in NOLA.

Fried chicken is FIE and worth the wait! Our Lyft driver suggested this place for more reasonably priced and delicious fried chicken. Not only was the fried chicken good, but so were the sides and cornbread muffins. Large portions and wonderful service! I got the bread pudding to go and am looking forward to eating it. :-)

My sister and I were on our way to a totally different restaurant when two people in a row said if you want great fried chicken go to Willie Mae's, so that's where we ended up. We waited for more than an hour, but it went by rather fast. The waitresses are very nice once you get inside, which makes you forget about the long wait. Let me tell you though Willie Mae's chicken is awesome. I have never tasted breast meat so tender, juicy and well seasoned. For the chicken alone I would have waited longer. We had the catfish as well as the butter beans, Mac and cheese and green beans. The Mac and cheese was just basic. I like my Mac stuck together like pie and there's is loose with a hint of spice. The butter beans are okay and the catfish is delicious 😋 I did not like the bread pudding at all. It was very sweet and mushy. They had no problem removing it from our bill. When I come back to New Orleans I will be coming here for more fried chicken.
