Absolutely 💯 percent superb experience! This place is awesome! Fantastic food, Fantastic service! If you go to New Orleans and want to be treated like royalty at dinner, then make reservations here! I can not express how wonderful the food and staff were! It is a bit expensive but sooooo worth it!
Some of the highest quality food. Excellent service. This is a great place to go for a special occasion. The fried oyster salad was incredible. Turtle soup was very good. Brussel sprouts were amazing. Mashed potatoes were a perfect consistency and delightfully herby. The cook on the steak was excellent. Meats were seasoned well. If you have not been here, then you need to try it.

Desi Vega’s was one of the best date nights we’ve had in a while!
Service was 10/10. They did small things like present all the plates at the same time or unfold our napkins to put in our laps for us. Every single person told my wife happy birthday (since we put that in our reservation notes).
Ambiance was very dark / moody. Perfect for a date night.
And the food was amazing.
Who Dat Shrimp - a “Must Get”. It was a bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with crab meat. The sauce that came with it was great.
Hearts of Lettuce - a classic wedge salad. We told them we were going to split this, so they pre-split it on 2 plates.
Porterhouse for Two - if you have a couple that both wants steak and likes it cooked the same way, then do this. It’s plenty of meat for 2 people (we even had leftovers), plus it was delicious!
Onion rings - thin cut onion rings were delicious. We were pretty full at this point (so didn’t eat many of them), but took them home as leftovers.
Drinks - we each got a cocktail. Their cocktail menu was pretty much classic cocktails with a slight twist.
They also gave us a free dessert for my wife’s birthday!
Overall, this was delicious. Probably the best steak dinner we’ve had in New Orleans.
Always our favorite steak restaurant hands down. We go for special occasions or just when the craving hits us. The steaks are divine and the meatballs are delectable. Kevin was our server, he’s the best! The atmosphere is classic with choice of music. Makes me feel like I’m back in Vegas again.
Desi Vega on St. Charles Avenue has to be one of the best steakhouses anywhere. Very consistent, always good! The steaks are great and large enough to share. The soups and salads, accompaniments are all fantastic. I have never had anything here that was not very good. The service is always excellent. Finally the desserts are all fabulous. You will not regret giving Desi Vega a try.
What a lovely experience! The food was delicious! We had quite the feast: pork belly and whipped potatoes, french onion soup, tomato and mozzarella salad, hearts of lettuce (wedge salad), cowboy steak, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, onion rings, and red velvet brownie. Every single thing was fantastic!
In addition to the great food, the service was remarkable. Our waiters Kenneth and Terrence were extremely professional, attentive, and pleasant. The manager, Diego, also checked on us and was really warm. The hostess thanked us by name on the way out. These small touches really made us feel welcomed.
I also really liked the ambiance. Most upscale steakhouses are typically dark and stuffy. This one was live and vibrant. The uncovered windows let in sunlight and it really gave it a nice vibe. It had an upscale, after-work cosmopolitan feel but was still cozy for our date night.
Adding this spot to my list of favs in the city!
Desi Vega's is one of my faves. I actually like it more than Ruth's Chris, maybe because RC is a chain and most times, chain restaurants are blah!
I usually stop at Desi Vega's for drinks before going across the street to the Square. It's always been one of my favorite steakhouses to stop at. I love the windows and how bright this restaurant is. Food is always perfect + service is always great. So personable. I love their strawberry martini and crème brûlée. Last visit I ordered the fish of the day + soup of the day. *Chefs kiss*. Baby Blossom, Kermit, and I enjoyed our meal!
One of the best steaks I've ever had in my life, and the service was outstanding. We had a group of 9 guys, and the way every steak came out and they put them on the table at the exact same time, piping hot, was incredible. Every side dish and appetizer was great as well. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
This restaurant is beyond fantastic! Hospitality here is unmatched. The staff were super kind and attentive. My son and I enjoyed two sizzling Filet Mignon that was cooked to perfection!
If you’re looking to jazz up your steak, I highly recommend the Blue Cheese Crust and Garlic Butter.
Parking is decent, early arrival is preferred.

Great location and incredible Cajun gourmet food. Steaks are amazing, although I got a bone in chop that was great. Part of a business trip so pre determined menu, but all 5 courses were excellent.
