We really enjoyed eating at Somtaste and will return soon. I have tried goat meat at a few places before but I was not impressed. But the goat at Somtaste was very tasty and enjoyable. The rice, bread and roasted veggies we're done perfectly, too. The restaurant was quiet and we had great service.
Portions were generous. Ambiance was calm. Beef curry was delicious. Tea was sweet and aromatic :)
Loved SomTaste! The owner was very friendly and the food was delicious. I got the chicken curry and samosas and my friend got the goat with rice. Everything was delicious! So many spices that were paired well together. We will be back.
Former diner now a bright, simple Somali joint. Was very quiet when we were there. Food was good - simple flavors. They did have the goat, which was great, but they were out of a number of other dishes.
Amazing food, ESPECIALLY the green sauce (ask for extra)! The owners are extremely nice and welcome conversation. The place may be a little run down by the prior tenant (Bridgman Ice Cream), and I know Somtaste will turn the restaurant into something special. Happy to support! Thanks Somtaste.
We loved Somtaste. I had the barbecue chicken and it was so tender. The rice, sambusa, spinach and chapati were all fresh and tasty too. Jama the owner was charming and gracious. We'll definitely be back.
If you are looking for excellent authentic Somalian food, this is the place. The flavors and experience reminded me much of my time living in Tanzania. It's a fresh taste you don't find many places. I'd highly recommend for a quick bite or long meal.

I saw an article in the local paper on this new restaurant and wanted to try it. The server was very knowledgeable about the food. Sambusa appetizers were excellent with ground beef, veggies and perfect spice combination. The green dipping sauce with very spicy, so I set that aside to taste the flavor of the pastry triangle. Server recommended the Goat meat with rice, it was his favorite. I thought I would be adventurous and try it. The meat was perfectly cooked, very tender and flavorful. The rice was very flavorful with a hint of saffron. Kidney beans and a wonderful flat bread also came with the meal. For dessert, I had the Xalwo. It was reddish-orange gelatin squares with a topping on it. It was sweet but not overly sweet with a slight chile spice in it. I loved the spice combinations in everything. They used their 95 year old grandmother's spices. There were many flavors I had never tasted before. I will be back since I want to try a other items on the menu. Service was friendly and excellent.
Fantastic and friendly service. The door was wonderful. I had the sambusas and the curry chicken which were both great. My boyfriend had the BBQ chicken which he really enjoyed. I'd definitely go back.

Excellent food, Authentic taste, great service. We'll be back and we will tell others about it. All four of us loved the food, I spoke to the owner and he is very hospitable. I think this restaurant deserves to be filled up with customers every day and night of the week.
