They have the best cheese steaks I have ever had been a faithful customer for almost 50 years. Ilive about a hour away now but still get my son to bring me a cheese steak from Rendezvous when he comes down. They need to come down to Coatesville and give these people some lessons on how to make a real cheese steak lol. Love you guys keep up the good work.and there subs ugh nothing better than Rendezvous you guys are the best.
Pretty much what I want in a sandwich shop. No, it's not fancy and it does have a bar kinda thing in the same space. The staff was friendly and attentive but busy making food. Not really a lot to say other than this is a great cheese steak. Hot, fresh, as ordered and delicious! Decently on my top cheesesteaks list! The reviews about not friendly staff and quality in my opinion should be ignored.
Great. "You can go die in a well if you don't like it," as someone said in another forum. I've been eating at The Rendezvous since the Sixties -- always good, and I used to carry subs to sustain me on the long ride home to Charlottesville. Not much to look at. But the sandwiches are great.
...but the best subs I ever ate were at The Rendezvous on West King Street in Lancaster, around the corner from my father's boyhood home at 342 West Orange. "You can go die in a well if you don't like it" (as someone said in another forum), and that's exactly how I used to feel about The Rendezvous. They have a great cheese steak, too. I pray the sandwiches are still that good. I used to stop there for a steak to fill me up and couple subs to tide me over on my long ride
One of the best cheese steaks I've had. I can't believe these guys are closing down at the end of this month. Hopefully someone buys them out. The restaurant is a bit dated. However, the friendly atmosphere and love they have for making their food is evident. I definitely want to go back!
Cash only ! Definitely a hole in the wall place with amazing cheese steaks ! I’m not a big fan of marinara sauce but i let them put it on my sandwich since that’s the norm. It was good but next time I would probably opt out of it. I was happy to find that I could purchase a 6 pack there too. Made my travel route easier.
I love this place.
For starters it's cash only, and I love that the staff doesn't put up with entitled jerks. They are there to make good food, not to put up with yuppie nonsense.
I've come here since I was a kid. I really like the hand tossed pizza. The large is 16 inches, not just 13 or 14 like the corporate places.
The cheesesteaks still taste as good as they did years ago. The Italian subs are a classic.
They are located 15 to 20 minutes from my house and I pass by a lot of closer pizza places just to go there.
Wow. Over 50 years ago had my first cheese steak here. Still moist seasoned mix of onion and meat wrapped up in a blanket of melted cheese on a toasty Italian roll. Consistently excellent. There's other stuff, too. You have to go.
Get it while you can because they will close this business by 12/31/19, or before 8f current supply runs out. This place has been around forever. Cheese steaks are excellent and pizza is fantastic.
The best place in town for cheesesteaks or subs! Haven't tried the pizza. Best Italian sub around, hands down! For those of you complaining about it being cash only, carry a few bucks in your pocket and stop crying.
CASH ONLY !!!! The only people who don't like this place are ones who had to go to an ATM to get cash. this is a great place to hit up after a barhopping adventure. Excellent food and a beer bar. I will be a customer as long as they keep the lights on. Guaranteed.
This is hands down the place with the best cheesesteak. I've gone to sub and pizza shops from Harrisburg to Philly and this is the best. Tony's in Philadelphia is a waste of a drive, just bring cash and try this little shop right off of Lancaster city's West King street. The Pizza is also pretty decent
I wanted to stop in and have one last cheesesteak sandwich before the Rendezvous Steak Shop closed its doors forever, and just like the first time that I was there, I was EXTREMELY pleased with the service and my sandwich, I will definitely miss this iconic Lancaster establishment. Thank you very much for the great food and wonderful memories, you will be sorely missed!!
If you are looking for ambiance, this is not your place. However, if you are looking for good cheesesteaks, made fast, stop on in. It's a hole-in-the-wall place, but don't let that dissuade you. Rendezvous has been a staple of downtown Lancaster for decades. It's consistently good and, unlike most downtown establishments, it's got it's own parking lot. Rendezvous serves beer in the 'bar' area in the back, so, while waiting for your food. you might be entertained by a neighborhood "character" or a local sot who's had a bit to drink . Give it a try; you'll be glad you did.
