The clam chowder, although the portion was too small, is the best I'd ever tasted, & the blueberry cake is to die for! Highly recommend the Spirit for a unique lunch experience. 😋
My wife and I were walking around KPT when I saw a boat with a bar on it. I had to go!! We found out that they were opening a few days early for the season. We had a few drinks and had a great time chatting with the staff. We came back a few hours for dinner and when we got on the boat we were greeted with cheers. The food is outstanding, the ambiance well it's on a boat so it's awesome and the staff is top notch!! I am so glad we found this restaurant!!! If they ever put Periwinkles on the menu we will have to drive back up from Boston!
Such a fun spot for a cocktail. You get to witness the unique tide change, sit on the bow in the sun or underneath at the bar.
I didn’t learn anything about the schooner, but it would be cool to have the story set up somewhere (maybe it is).
It’s not as busy as some of the others spots, it feels a little exclusive. I think people don’t know how to get out to it.
There’s a food truck set up outside, that you can bring onboard as well.
It's hard to imagine a more meaningful wedding than the one we were able to photograph on the Spirit of Massachusetts. The couple we photographed here actually met and worked on this ship when it was sailing the high seas. Decades later, they returned for their wedding ceremony. It was a good time <3
Scenic boat side bar for a great drink with a view
Unique setting on a tall ship in the river. No food offerings but plenty of drinks. A little hard to find the entrance with a few signs pointing the way.
Best bar in Kennebunkport, best lobster roll in Kennebunkport, best bartenders in Kennebunkport, Most unique eating/drinking experience in Kennebunkport. My wife and I just spent a week in Kennebunkport and ended up at the Spirit of Massachusetts 3 nights in a row. Jeff and Nate were behind the bar and made sure our drinks were cold and they our food came out on time. The food was great! It amazes me that they can make food so good in a boat. This was by far the best experience we had all week so thank you guys! Cant wait to go back next year!
Side Note: if you like spice, make sure you ask about the spicy pickled green beans that they serve with their bloody mary. So good!
We recently held a wedding rehearsal party on the Spirit of Massachusetts. It was a cocktail party with appetizers served throughout the evening. Our guests are still talking about the unique and memorable venue. We were even treated to a beautiful sunset! The food and drinks were outstanding and, even though we didn’t have a sit-down dinner, everyone had plenty to eat. Our event coordinator, Michelle, and her staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful in planning and executing our event. They all worked so hard to make everything perfect and they succeeded beyond our expectations!
The bride and groom are leaving on their honeymoon and they will be taking memories of a perfect wedding celebration with them – the party on the Spirit Friday night set the tone for the rest of the weekend events.
If you are considering hosting an event on the Spirit of Massachusetts, you have definitely made the right choice!
This is a great place to have a drink and a bite to eat! The bartenders are super cool. Drinks are great! Their small bites are out of this world!!! We had the lobster bun, oysters, burger, and watermelon tomato salad! All were AMAZING!!! We stopped here daily! 5++ stars!!
This place is wonderful. Very sentimental for me personally, but a gorgeous place to eat. We got crab cakes, clam chowder, and the duck confit crepe. Crab cakes were a little sweet and a little soft. Clam chowder was delicious. I prefer smaller pieces of clam, which is what it had. Really lovely broth. Silky and smooth and not overly floury as chowder can tend to be. Perfectly balanced and it was my favorite part of the meal. Duck crepe was packed with duck and was really good. The owner told us some of the history of the boat and it's restoration, which was really impressive. Showed us pictures and it's shocking how beautifully they did with the project. All the staff was friendly, happy, and helpful. It was a great night, and a great area.
This was such a neat place! We were seated right in the bow and had a great view. It can get windy, so be careful your napkins and things don't blow away. The food is all smaller plates, and very tasty. The cheese plate and lobster stew were wonderful.
My first time at this restaurant and absolutely not my last. Sure the food's great and so are the drinks! But let's face it, it all comes down to service. And they have that nailed down in the form of our server, Lucy. Personable, efficient and full of Kennebunk charm. She set me straight with exactly what to order so I could have the best experience possible. I don't know what she's getting paid but they should double it!!! Lucy embodies the spirit of the Spirit of Massachusetts Restaurant. 20 stars!!!!!!!!
