Kennebunk South Travel Plaza

One of the nicest highway rest stops you will find! Very clean, easy in and out from 95 Southbound. I spent a quiet night in the parking lot in my van.

We were on our way home (long trip) and she needed to use the facilities. While there I stopped at the Applegreen (little convenient store/gift shop) and got a Maine Magnet 🦞 and some drinks for us. The entire plaza was very nice and clean. I tend to always stop at this one (and the one going north as well) when I am in the area.

Everything that you could need in a stop while traveling the highway is available here. What I would like to highlight is the event that happened to us when we were headed out of state. We stopped here for a small quick breakfast and bathroom break. After getting our Dunkin order we resumed our trip. We were traveling with others in two vehicles. We just left the state not far into New Hampshire when we were done with our food and my mother noticed that she left her purse at the rest stop on the back of a chair in the lobby. We separated from our traveling companions in the other vehicle and headed back to the rest plaza to recover the purse. While we were on our way back we tried calling the plaza several times, but no one answered. We tried calling my mother's phone that was in her purse and no one answered. Frustratingly, you must go to the next exit north of the plaza to regain entrance at the southbound service plaza. As you can imagine this was a stressful forty-five minute ride back. When we got there of course the chair she left it on was empty. My mom went to talk with the people working at the Dunkin Donuts where we had gotten breakfast less than an hour ago, while I tried to track down someone in charge of the plaza lobby. When I got back to the lobby within a couple minutes after tracking down a custodian I looked towards the Dunkin and saw that my mom had already retrieved her purse. Some nice lady noticed it the on the chair and reported it to the people at Dunkin where the manager took it back to a safe spot. It was all intact and we were very relieved. It is good to know that there are still responsible trustworthy people all around us. Thank you random unidentified mystery lady and thank you Dunkin Donuts staff. Very much appreciated.

Great travel stop. Tesla chargers. Lots of outdoor seating. The hours for businesses may be odd due to covid or the season though. At 3pm on a Saturday Starbucks was closed, Aunt Annie's was closed. Maybe only B.K. and Z market open.

Popeye's fried chicken is why we go!! They close at odd times though. One of the last times we went we were in a long line of people for about 10 minutes or so, when we noticed the line not moving we were told the store was closed.? It was weird that all the staff members didn't feel obligated to tell all the customers waiting in line
