First off, Stephanie at breakfast was amazing. She was helpful, nice, and on top of the busy breakfast room. Great way to start our morning!
But... We booked the room thinking we would have a shuttle to the cruise port and now that's not an option.
And... The door to our room wouldn't shut without lifting and slamming it, the faucet in the bathroom was about twisted off of the sink and there were stains on the towels and bath rug.
Was a bit worried about staying here because of some of the recent negative/poor reviews but I didn't experience that really. room was nice and clean, pretty standard for a 2 bed room. Didn't encounter any of the roaches or crickets or whatever on the second floor but did see a couple in common areas on ground floor. They seemed more like crickets than roaches to me. Proximity to Pleasure Pier was fantastic, complimentary breakfast was enough, yeah seating was limited but you could find somewhere to sit, it worked. Staff were nice and not always on their phones like some people complained.
I stayed two weeknights in a balcony room. Everything was clean, comfortable, and working perfectly. I read some of the negative reviews before arriving, they made me second guess myself and I got worried! I was so happy to find a great room with a wonderful view, no bugs, no mold. The only thing I can't comment on is the breakfasts because I always eat later in the morning.
Best thing about this hotel is the location. Right across the street from the beach/ ocean. And within walking distance of food, drinks, and Pleasure Pier. The hotel itself is in need of some renovations for sure. The elevators weren't always working. Breakfast was so so. The room itself was a bit musty smelling. And the front desk staff was a bit weird. Overall though, for a one night stay before our cruise, it fit our needs at a decent price.
I’ve read a ton of negative comments and I can’t seem to find a single complaint I’ve read with any validity. The room was HUGE compared to any other hotel, room was actually cold when we arrived, fridge, microwave and all that stuff. The room was VERY clean, we didn’t have to pay for parking as many have indicated. I will definitely be back, the location cannot be beat. The price was super affordable. I just don’t see what these people are whining about. No free cruise parking? Boo hoo, if you can’t afford to park for your cruise, don’t go!
Kelly, checked us in and was so helpful. We loved our visit. We check out tomorrow and will be back. The woman who runs the breakfast is so nice & will try to make sure you get anything you need.
Now, for the downsides... there really
isn't any. They have great floors but guest walk in super wet and you can see their foot prints everywhere. I feel bad for the woman cleaning the floors because it is non stop. They do have a fan at the entrance to try to dry the floors. And their floors are the new anti slip floors. I think that was the biggest complaint on the reviews. You are across from the beach the floor will be wet.
The beds were comfortable. I am spoiled and old and hate hotel beds. I was pleased with my bed. I did bring my own pillow but the ones they had were really nice.
My biggest complaint is my husband stored nonstop. But, Kelly told me they have connecting rooms. So, next time we will do that.
My two-day stay at Clarion Pointe Galveston was fantastic. The reception service was excellent, and the staff was always ready to help. The clean pool and delicious early morning breakfast, especially the waffles and muffins, were highlights. I highly recommend this hotel for those visiting Galveston, especially if you want to be near the Historic Pleasure Pier.
Super friendly staff ! Showers outside the hotel super convenient for just coming from the beach . Room was nice and clean! Hotel outside the room was a little stuffy but I think they were dealing with some ac issues due to a storm that hit a week prior - elevators moved a little slow. pool was nice and chill . Public restroom also super clean :)
