On a beautiful Charleston evening we sat on the lovely patio and had a delicious meal!
I loved the frozen painkiller my hubs enjoyed the shakedown brewed in Savannah.
We ordered the chorizo queso. It was thick and flavorful served w warm chips and grilled tortillas. Great portion size!
I really enjoyed the grilled shrimp tacos w sweet potato fries.
Hubs loved the pork tacos with fantastic sweet plantains! He even ask the server how they were prepared. She said they are tossed in a rum and caramel sauce. ....a little to sweet for me but he loved them!
Our server,
Amy, was very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful and efficient!
Overall, it was a great dining experience and we will be back. And highly recommend Fuel!!
Thank you Justin and Sarah Broome!
The absolute best place for casual food like their Jerk Chicken Sandwich, any of their tacos, and Hoe Cakes. And....yes it's me again....the plantains...are to die for...
Super delicious drinks and a wonderful atmosphere to relax and enjoy a warm evening just solving the world's problems with your friends or watching a sports program on their TVs.....
I have been to fuel several times over the years and was happy to see it remains a fun place to grab a beer and hang out at the double sided open bar. The staff is friendly. The crowd is generally a bit younger but varied and the outdoor space is a big draw. I didn't eat this visit. The prices seemed good and I think this place is a good starting place for an evening an evening out in Charleston. There is decent parking in front and around Fuel, but it fills up fast, so you might need to look around the neighborhood for parking.
The food was good, but nothing exceptional. I ordered the blackened Mahi wrap; there was more lettuce and wrap than Mahi, and not much flavor to be blackened. We sat outside and couldn't hear each other, so if you're going to try and carry on a conversation, you might consider an off time. The service was a little slow but not bad. Seating in doors is limited, but it is even louder in doors, so choose carefully.
Such a fun place to get drinks for happy hour! We ordered the taco fries and 1/2 nacho plate for appetizers, and started off with the specialty cocktails and frozen pain reliever. It was all very yummy. The poor waitress was the only gal working and still provided excellent service. They have fun games to play outside such as a ring toss table top game, connect four, and corn hole. Definitely will come back!
What an excellent place! We were in town for a big conference and unexpectedly decided to gather a smaller group of us (21!) for a dinner... only it was really hard to find a place to accommodate us all. Fuel came to the rescue. They were so kind and responsive, and they were able to put together a table for us all together on their outside patio. The food was AMAZING. (One in our crowd said it was her best meal in Charleston so far!) The service was outstanding. We loved our server, Paige. And the ambience was great. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Price: can’t beat it
Crispy shrimp taco: delicious and portion was giant. I’d order 2 tacos for lunch and 3 for dinner.
Street corn: sauce has a bite! So tasty tho, could eat one a day for life.
Nachos: delicious- loved the half portion- makes it easy for a “tapas” style dinner.
Parking: very difficult. Small lot with room for like 12 cars. There also is not street parking anywhere near by. If you can walk or Uber there, do it.
Ambiance: loved the indoor outdoor style.
I’d absolutely go here again, and recommend it!!
Check out their happy hour items as well.
Friendly host and bartender, short wait time.. the food was fantastic! I got the blackened mahi wrap with sweet plantains and they had sweet potato fries come out - brought out plantains immediately (and I said they didn’t have to, so above and beyond!). Very beach/tropical feel to the place. Will definitely return!
Saw Diner Drive In and Dive episode. It was worth detour. Jerk chicken on salad was excellent. Nice variety of local brews served cold.
Has been one of my favorite spots in dt Chas for over 10 years. Have gotten the nachos every time and they are stellar. Super sweet service as well, highly recommend.
This was one of my favorite restaurants we visited in Charleston! It’s and old file station converted to a restaurant…so cool! The food was delicious, service was great and the ambiance was unique and awesome! The street corn was so good and the taco fries were also amazing! I was surprised at the amount of flavor in my rice bowl and the added texture from the topping made it extra delicious, though the fresh salsa definitely made the dish! I also got a Paloma which was fantastic. Such a good stop!
We were visiting from out of town and there were 6 of us. Bianca was our server and she was awesome!!!! She took our order and remembered every detail. She was extremely attentive and made great food/drink recommendations. The food was awesome as well. Loved the atmosphere at Fuel Charleston, and I will definitely return the next time I am in Charleston.
