Had the BLT. My husband had the chili dog. Great bang for your buck. Nothing fancy but that suited us fine! The staff was friendly and courteous.
Market Street Deli lies in the heart of the Market Place area just steps from the popular covered market and right in the midst of the throng of tourists. This place was small and simple, it seemed that it was more for the locals than the tourists and suited us just fine with it’s no frills menu, and no ‘air and graces’.
Love it. Very friendly. Yammy sandwiches.. everyday.
Good place for a quick lunch. I'm with Elaine. I work on Market Street and almost all of us in the office order from Market Street Deli frequently. It's definitely not a tourist hot spot but I've never had a bad experience and the food is always hot and delicious. The staff is also super friendly whenever I go in.
Not as bad as some of the reviews imply. Neither is it something that you'll remember as the high point of the trip.
I've eaten here many times, and so have my co-workers. I think that trumps the review of little miss mommy Jessica below. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.
This little deli is a great place to stop for a quick, reasonably priced meal. We've been here numerous times, and the food reminds us of the quick meals grandma would make.
I had the breakfast egg sandwich with a sausage patty on toast (next time I will order the croissant). The second visit, I enjoyed the tuna fish on a croissant with lettuce and tomato, which was delicious. My guy never varies from soft scrambled eggs, bacon, and a short stack (he loves their light & fluffy pancakes).
The ladies working at the Market are always friendly and welcome everyone who walks in. Every time we visit Charleston, we try to stop in.
We come to Charleston every year (9) on our anniversary and always visit these lovely ladies in the Market Street Deli. Nothing fancy, a small, down-home menu, freshly prepared sandwiches and the best potato salad! I wish we could eat here twice a week instead of once a year!
Honestly the main thing is that everything could have been seasoned better, it tasted a little plain. They are good for the price, and our orders were made within five minutes (although this was also probably due to the place not being very busy).
I was looking for a quick and easy non-fast food lunch and I went to Market Street Deli. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. I ordered a chicken pesto wrap to go. It was made quickly and tasted pretty good.
We stopped in here from being outside in the heat. The salad that I got was not only good and refreshing, but the balsamic vinaigrette was sooo tasty on it. My husband had the chicken pesto wrap with chips. The food was good and the homemade lemonade as well. The staff were good too.
Fantastic breakfast spot across from the Charleston Market. Delicious grits and biscuits. Our omelettes were seasoned and delicious as well. All for $7 each. You can't have a better breakfast.
1st breakfast in Charleston.... Shrimp and Grits were amazing!!! Can't recommend enough! Everyone should breakfast here!!!
My son and I are visiting from Baltimore. This is the first place we stopped for lunch. And boy am I impressed. We each got a sandwich and they were amazing. I love the women working here. Perfect first spot.
Best Shrimp 🦐 and Grits in the city 🌆 of Charleston. Not just my opinion, but you can try it for yourself and see what I’m talking about 😏😋
I just loved this place! Authentic & down to earth, not cookie-cutter! It’s intimate with a generous menu, straightforward, TASTY & filling food at a great price, & not least of all, the staff went above & beyond to accommodate. The coffee was delicious (half-n-half & sugar!), perfect wheat toast with yummy sausage, & eggs made by a pro, & served on a diner-China plate—I felt I stumbled into a wonderful secret place in broad daylight with hundreds of people & multiple choices on the street two steps below… The other patrons were a professional-looking couple and another woman who appeared professional based on her attire, & then a young couple with baby came in… As a single woman traveling, this is an experience I treasure (& all the staff were female), & I just LOVE Charleston in every way because the people are so kind & generous!!!
