I was visiting Charleston for the weekend and my boyfriend's friend took us to Home Town BBQ Downtown on Friday for lunch. All I got to say was the BBQ was the best that I ever had. The wings were fantastic. I loved the dry rub on them. The fried mac and cheese/sausage/collard greens/chilli were great. My bf ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs platter. I got to try his platter and it was really good. The drinks were also good. Also Katie, our bartender/server, gave fantastic service. Y'all should give her a raise. I definitely want to come back if I ever get a chance to go back to Charleston
This place is HUGE !
Indoor/Outdoor seating
One of the best Pulled Pork sandwiches I've ever had. Nice and smokey. And they had red sauces !
Highly recommended !
Today we tried the sliced brisket with a side of Mac n cheese and cole slaw. Brisket was tender and moist with a beautiful smoke line. Mac n cheese is creamy and cheesy with just enough of the burnt edge to satisfy the Mac n cheese lover. Slaw was tasty but more of a vinegar based sauce then what I’m used to. Hubby had the Smoked turkey wrap, that is packed with fresh ingredients and a good size sandwich. He also had the brisket chili as a side and he loved that as well. Banana pudding is served in a mason jar, fresh banana pudding topped with fresh whipped cream and Nilla wafers. Perfect treat to share after the large portions we had for lunch.
I really enjoyed this restaurant ( my family did as well)! I found it on YouTube as a place locals visit but not a lot of tourists. I wanted to try it while in Charleston because I'd heard about it's mustard based bbq sauce. We don't have that where I live, so I was curious. I have to say I was initially skeptical but not disappointed!
I tried the BBQ, brisket and jalapeno sausage platter. The BBQ and brisket was super tender. The sausage wasn't as flavorable as I expected but this place has a bevy of food that won't disappoint. I highly recommend the fried Mac and Cheese with tomatillo sauce. DELICIOUS!! I also enjoyed their greens, regular mac and cheese and baked beans. Also, my mom and son recommend the banana pudding.
If you're in Charleston soon, put Home Team on your list-- if only to try the mustard based bbq sauce. I promise you'll walk away satisfied.
Amazing Sportsbar. Awesome atmosphere
Great food. One of the best burger I’ve ever eaten, if not the best!! Unfortunately they don’t have fries on the menu.
Service was also great 👍
Definitely a 5-star experience at Home Team. Came highly recommended by our local hosts and our was fantastic! Carolina style BBQ with all of the sauces, including Alabama white sauce and death sauce on the deep fried ribs. Soooooo good 🤤 Per usual we ordered too much food, but wanted to make sure we tried lots of the goodies. Tomato salad and slaw cut through some of the meat.
Good selection of local beers also on tap and by the can. Clean premises, super friendly staff (thanks, Lexie) and sports on TV. A winning combo!
the best smoked wings i’ve ever had! we’re literally crispy flavorful and delicious! to die for wings. also the frozen irish coffee was so good. definitely will be back 5/5
This was my first visit and it was beyond amazing. The weather was pleasant enough to sit outside mid-afternoon in the vast footprint. I remarked several times how excellent the size and spacing of the large, long tables was. And the format placement of the many *large LARGE* televisions was excellent. I have already recommended Home Team BBQ to several other folks. Good job to the ownership and partners.
Wings and queso were great. Turkey was tough, almost no smoke. Pork was pretty good.
Sliced brisket platter with collard greens and Brunswick stew was super. As well as the pulled pork, baked beans and mac & cheese. Decent selection of craft beers on tap. Nice back yard barbeque atmosphere.
