The food was great and the atmosphere was very nice. I had the seafood platter #4 and my husband had the buttermilk chicken. I felt like the serving size was excellent. I would highly recommend this place but go early as they tend to get full and it's not a huge place. Oh and try the she crab soup. It's amazing!
The atmosphere was amazing, except for the guy very audibly mouth breathing at the table next to me. Anywhere else and it would have been off putting but the place is so nice, I couldn’t be bothered to be upset about it. The wait staff was on point and knew their menu exceptionally well. I had the Bouillabaisse and it was probably the best thing I’ve eaten in like 3 months. Believe it or not, there are still chefs who know how to properly cook a scallop. I asked our waiter if he would sell me just a jug of the broth, but, much to my dismay, it was a no-go. If you are ever near Charleston, this place is worth the stop. Do yourself a favor and get a reservation though. Only one community table with 12-14 seats and it fills up quickly.
We decided to make a reservation to celebrate my birthday here while visiting Charleston. As the city near the seas, we decided to eat in seafood restaurant and book here. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was great. The food was overall just OK. The seafood was not as fresh as the seafood in myrtle beach at the murrels inlet. The food taste was just okay and we ordered side rice that cook with cheese and charge $19 as much as the appetizer. It was crazy. One time eat here is okay but probably not the second time.
Our first dinner in Charleston. We split the fried shrimp salad, which I thought was really good, but my wife didn't like it as much. We then split the saffron creme seafood dish, and it was so good. We each had a dessert. I tried the peanut butter dessert, and my wife had the key lime pie. They were both good but I think we ate too much.
Great food, service and ambiance. Elegant, classy and relaxed restaurant.
We had the calamari appetizer, shrimp and grits, flounder, seafood a la wando and salmon. All very tasty and perfectly prepared. You can't go wrong with anything! Our waiter Matthew was attentive friendly and professional. Definitely coming back.
Talk about Southern food and customer service! This place has it all! Great food, for starters, I had the fried shrimp and octopus, for my main, Shrimp & Grits (of course), then for dessert, Key Lime Pie. Most importantly, Casey was our server who made the best recommendations! Cant wait to visit again!
We made reservations here for a brief visit to Charleston. I did a lot of research and am so glad this was where we decided to eat. The food was delicious, the service was great, and despite being large and busy, the atmosphere was nice.
I really wanted some she crab soup while I was here. I started with the soup, and my husband got the mussels. Both were a hit. Although, he said the mussels were not the best he had ever had, they were very good. I typically do not eat mussels, but I had several. The complementary bread was soft and great by itself, or even better, for dipping in both the white wine suace in the mussels, and the crab soup.
Because I was already filling up, I did not want a large main dish, so I got the romaine salad with shrimp. Honestly, it was still huge, so I kind of wish I had gotten something else. Having said that, it was my first time having charred romaine, and I liked it. I also do not typically eat shrimp, but they were cooked very well. The green goddess dressing was also not extremely heavy. It was lightly drizzled on the romaine. A bit of the fried shrimp with the charred romaine, and a little of the dressing in one bite was a great combination.
The real winner of the meal was the swordfish my husband ordered as his main course. The swordfish was cooked perfectly. The corn cream sauce was delicious and carried the meal. He said the fried okra was the best he ever had.
Our server was very polite, prompt, and made great suggestions. As I said, the restaurant was busy. It had a lot of tables, and they were close together. Despite how busy it was, I never felt cramped, or that it was loud and overcrowded. It was a lovely, warm atmosphere.
I wanted a good seafood place to eat at while in Charleston, and I am so glad this is the place I picjked. Hands down we would eat here again if in the area.
Hank's is hands down delicious. It's a beautiful restaurant with great service. The food is really, really good. The seafood Wando was spectacular. Shrimp and grits was very good, and the clams appetizer was tasty. The oysters casino were absolutely amazing. We would probably order 2 of those next time!
It's rated the best seafood restaurant in Charleston for a reason. Excellent all around.
10/10 recommend. So glad we added this to our list while visiting Charleston. The dinning room is beautiful. The service is wonderful. Our server helped us narrow down our choices. We had the seared tuna and fried oysters to start. The tuna is served on fried green tomato. What a combination! The oysters with smoked blue cheese were delicious and surprisingly light for a fried dish. The bouillabaisse broth was outstanding. The house specialty seafood a la wando was phenomenal
Hank's has an upscale steakhouse vibe (and prices) with pretty good food. Portion sizes were not huge, especially for the shrimp and scallop platter. The fish (pictured) was excellent. The kids really like the fried shrimp platters. Dessert was very good.
We were visiting from Memphis, Tennessee and we’re looking for an upscale seafood restaurant, on our last night! Hank’s was exactly what we were looking for.
Reservations are a must!
We arrived early to be able to enjoy cocktails at the bar. From the outside, you’d never know what was in the other side of the Warehouse Door! WoW! We thought, as we were parking, that we couldn’t possibly be at the right place, but as soon as we opened the door, we knew it was going to be a great night.
I don’t understand any of the negative reviews on this place.
White tablecloth, exquisite service from the moment you arrive, and everything we ate was freshly prepared, served hot, and tasted amazing!
This place has earned a spot as one of our all time favorite vacation meals. Thank you Hank’s for a great vacation date nite! It was a wonderful evening!
Our service was outstanding even though we forgot reservations and were seated at the bar. We are posting a pic of the best crab cakes we've ever had, creamy and crabby and flavorful with the slightest perfect crunch on the outside. It was our first visit to Charleston, it will not be our last! Awesome seafood dinner.
