Some of the most authentic tacos we’ve found in Austin! My wife and I lived in Oaxaca and this is one of the few places that can scratch the itch for some real tacos. Their horchata and tamarind drinks are to die for as well.

These tacos are very ORIGINAL AND TASTY. The menu is pretty unique given all the different tacos places in Austin. Highly recommend!

Tasty tacos. Bonus points for having Adobada tacos, which aren’t as common at other places. It’s probably 4.5 stars but the adobada bonus points push it to 5 stars. Adding lime to the Adobada and Alambre was great.

My girlfriend and I have been regulars here (we go once just about every other week) since we moved into the area earlier this year. Dinner is very good, but the Breakfast tacos are where it is at! My girlfriend is plant based and they have loads of options for her, besides just having good food in general. Be sure to try their salsa verde on your tacos, it's worth the price of the taco on its own. We highly recommend👌

I was sad when the soco location closed down near my house, but I recently visited the south Lamar location and the food tastes just as it did a few years ago! The corn tortillas are bomb and their breakfast tacos (especially the bean and cheese) bring me life. The green sauce is my favorite in the city.

Hadn't been here in a while and wanted to check out out again. Two ingredient (plus egg included) breakfast tacos here at Papalote Taco House for about $3 per. Good size. Good price. I did chorizo and pablano plus egg and sausage and potato plus egg on flour. Flour tortillas are OK. They need to be crisped up a bit more before serving. Good flavor. A bit thick. I love pablano, but I can't advise eating here. It isn't cooked enough and the waxy skin still it on. They need to char them, remove the skins, then put longer (softer) strips inside. Chorizo was fine, but the bad pablano semi ruined that one for me. The sausage and potato was a surprise winner. Nice chunks of sausage. Eggs are well cooked. Winner. Salsa Roja has a nice kick. Salsa Verde is mild, but fine. Pretty good spot. Will try again.

First time there. Service was so friendly. Nice and clean eating area. There are not a lot of tables, but we went for lunch and still were able to sit. The lunch special is a great price because it includes 2 tacos, tea and rice and beans. They also have daily evenings specials and will definitely try that out another time.

Hands down, my favorite spot for tacos in south Austin! We’ve been coming here for 5 years, introduced family & friends to the spot, and the quality of the food has been spot on. Delicious! Recommend a build your own breakfast taco (my personal favorite is egg, chorizo, tomato & avocado on corn), cachete, tinga de res, adobado, & torra pipián. Or if you’re looking for a sweet treat, try the plátano con crema - delicious! However you prefer it: dine in / take out, red salsa / green salsa, beer / soda - you need to make time to visit the fabulous team at Papalote!

Quick, cheap tacos. We got in just before the rush on a Saturday morning. The food was good but the order was wrong which seems to be very common at all of these types of taco joints in Austin. It’s difficult to get a breakfast taco without eggs on it anywhere, even if you’re very specific about your request. The tacos are very good. I had the chorizo. We were also impressed with the chips and queso.
