Loved this place!! We're from Houston; the land of great authentic tacos, andI can honestly say the tacos we had were awesome!!! We had the Pastor and Chorizo from the Classic menu, and the Alambres tacos. We also had just plain ol' Ptato, Egg and Cheese, and they were great too! The kitchen is small, but they were cranking' em out!! Muy Bueno!!
One of my go to stops for breakfast tacos when I am in town. Always fast service, any combo taco you can think of and the guacamole is pretty tasty, too.
First time there. Service was so friendly. Nice and clean eating area. There are not a lot of tables, but we went for lunch and still were able to sit. The lunch special is a great price because it includes 2 tacos, tea and rice and beans. They also have daily evenings specials and will definitely try that out another time.
Hadn't been here in a while and wanted to check out out again. Two ingredient (plus egg included) breakfast tacos here at Papalote Taco House for about $3 per. Good size. Good price.
I did chorizo and pablano plus egg and sausage and potato plus egg on flour. Flour tortillas are OK. They need to be crisped up a bit more before serving. Good flavor. A bit thick.
I love pablano, but I can't advise eating here. It isn't cooked enough and the waxy skin still it on. They need to char them, remove the skins, then put longer (softer) strips inside. Chorizo was fine, but the bad pablano semi ruined that one for me.
The sausage and potato was a surprise winner. Nice chunks of sausage. Eggs are well cooked. Winner.
Salsa Roja has a nice kick. Salsa Verde is mild, but fine.
Pretty good spot. Will try again.
Tasty breakfast tacos with fresh ingredients, good salsas, and reasonable prices. Service is always good and the place is clean. The only downside, in my opinion, is their flour tortillas are always served cold and seemingly right out of the store-bought bag. I wish they'd toss them on the grill for a few to toast them up to turn on the flavor and improve the experience.
Tasty tacos. Bonus points for having Adobada tacos, which aren’t as common at other places. It’s probably 4.5 stars but the adobada bonus points push it to 5 stars. Adding lime to the Adobada and Alambre was great.
Hands down, my favorite spot for tacos in south Austin! We’ve been coming here for 5 years, introduced family & friends to the spot, and the quality of the food has been spot on. Delicious!
Recommend a build your own breakfast taco (my personal favorite is egg, chorizo, tomato & avocado on corn), cachete, tinga de res, adobado, & torra pipián. Or if you’re looking for a sweet treat, try the plátano con crema - delicious!
However you prefer it: dine in / take out, red salsa / green salsa, beer / soda - you need to make time to visit the fabulous team at Papalote!
Amazing Tacos!!
The salsas that they give with the tacos are so good!
Quick service.
The server was very nice and helped me decide my order.
I always get confused if there are too many options.
We would definitely visit again!
They might have vegan options too but I only tried vegetarian when we went.
This place has delicious tacos but I wouldn’t say they are traditional Mexican tacos. I am from CA and these tacos were very different but delicious. Their salsa is very good too. I wish I could buy a bottle of their green salsa. I got chicken and a breakfast taco and I preferred the breakfast taco. It was fabulous!! I would eat here again if I was in town.
Papalote is a great little place for interior style Mexican food with a variety of street style tacos. The dining area was recently remodeled and expanded, with a fresh clean design and more tables. I had the Alambres grilled steak tacos on this visit, which were very tasty. They have a green and red sauce both good, however I preferred the green sauce. After three of the small street style tacos the lingering flavors left me wanting more, but there was no room left in the stomach! Two tacos will most likely be plenty to satiate your hunger. I should also mention they have decent breakfast tacos. I recommend giving this place a shot next time you are in the South Lamar area - a great quick stop for that late weekend brunch too.
Restaurant is cute inside, 😋 barbacoa doesn't fail to impress the senses of those t'buds. Plus, the tacos are beautiful to those eyes as well. 😄 enjoy 😉
My girlfriend and I have been regulars here (we go once just about every other week) since we moved into the area earlier this year. Dinner is very good, but the Breakfast tacos are where it is at! My girlfriend is plant based and they have loads of options for her, besides just having good food in general. Be sure to try their salsa verde on your tacos, it's worth the price of the taco on its own. We highly recommend👌
