This place was nothing short of perfect! The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauces were made in heaven! I can’t wait to go back when we are in town again!
Don’t think about it, just go! You won’t regret it!
Great Italian place in Adams Morgan. You don’t give much from the outside but it’s quite lovely and with great ambiance inside. They have plenty of vegetarian options. We had the cacio and Pepe and creamy pesto and really enjoyed both. A great neighborhood place that we were pleased to discover!
One of the best Italian spots in DC - truly a hidden gem.
Their food is consistently delicious - I love the carbonara, but my dining companions are always happy with the variety of other dishes they make as well! The pasta is perfectly cooked every time, and the carbonara is creamy, rich, flavorful, and overall just fantastic.
Service is excellent and very attentive. They’ve started taking payment at the table which is nice and speedy. Last time I went it was quiet, and the host/server actually went so far as to open & hold the door for us on our way out!
The tables in the window seating area are by far the best - lots of natural light and it feels very open. The seats on the lower level do feel a bit darker and more cramped. If making a reservation for a special dinner, perhaps request one of the window tables.
Absolutely and utterly delicious! Breathtakingly good. Never have I eaten at an Italian restaurant that had me gasp at every bite.
It was clear and obvious the quality of the food and the fact that it was homemade.
we ordered:
See the video for yourself, the meat is actually falling off the bone. so tender, so juicy and riddled with flavor. A battle I had was continuing to eat more while realizing I was getting too full! Great portion sizes!
I'm counting the days until we return. The hardest decision will be to order what we got last time or try something new! I can only believe it will all be delicious.
Each dish had an incredible presentation. I just cannot get enough of the taste. Absolutely homemade. Tasted fresh!
You can visibly see how hard each member works and how happy they are to be there.
I'm ready to go back!
My meal was absolutely delicious and the service was terrific. I arrived without a reservation and was seated at a very nice table right away. The service was appropriately paced. My caprese salad and the ravioli were absolutely scrumptious.
Excellent foodage! 4 of us got the meatballs, Caesar salad, the cacio e Pepe, fettuccine amatriciana, burrata ravioli , and a duck ragu on special. Everything was excellent & we would order each dish again.
Vegetarian Food Review: Found Al Volo on Google and went there to grab some dinner. Really liked the ambiance. The bread served was no good…. Soft and nor was the oil flavoured like it could have been with the stuff in it. However the Burrata Ravioli was a pleasant surprise thus the 4 star. It was simple and lovely. They did not have much option for nonalcoholic beverage so succumbed to my normal choice as Coke is the only option.
Food and service at this little Adams Morgan gem are flawless. Everything was perfectly prepared and presented. Small tables with an open kitchen make this place a vibrant and activated destination for signature Italian food that's elevated with class not prices. A touch of home style in the dishes lets you know the food was loved while being made, but don't let that make you think the food is boring or plain; quite the opposite. A great date spot, or for special occasions, happily it doesn't feel stuffy or inaccessible.
So great! The food, the service, the atmosphere. Quite easy to overlook on the street if you're just walking by but would definitely recommend giving it a try! I really appreciate that there were several good vegetarian options on the menu. Very nice as a date spot. Will definitely be back!
Some of the best pasta I have ever eaten. Forgot to take a picture of our main dishes.
