As a lover of all things Teddy Roosevelt and good food, this place fits a special niche in my life. I was visiting D.C. for the weekend from Chicago and my friend, knowing my deep appreciation of Theodore Roosevelt (bordering obsession - I dressed up as a Rough Rider for Halloween one time), surprised me by bringing me here. Walking in, you see the decor covered in TR-inspired art and items: oil painting, rifles, and quotes, including faux animal heads bolted to the walls. It was cute without being too much like chatchkys.
The cocktails were amazing and the food, delectable. I had a bourbon cocktail titled "The Trust Buster" that set the tone for the night (my friend, "The Rough Rider", a Rum-based cocktail that she loved.
The menu was extensive, equal parts enticing and inventive. Finding it difficult to make a decision, we ordered everything, or rather a sampling of pretty much everything at the Chef's behest. We made the right decision. With no allergies or changes, the kitchen kept sending us plate after plate of amazing fare to delicious for words. My palate is not so disciplined as to formulate the correct thoughts into words or describe the deliciousness into proper format, suffice it to say that the meals were amazing. The entree was rib tips in a neat glaze with a sweet potato reduction (amazing!), but dessert was another thing. The chef (I can't recall him name, but he was blond and had a beard and was incredible, he represented the house most excellently) came out, clearing our table and placing brown wax paper. He talked to us, describing each of the concoctions and sweet treats he hasn't placing on our table: ice cream, brownies, caramel glaze, gummies, Gas-infused blueberries, and so much more. We mixed and matched, tasting and trying everything, everything spread out over the table so that every spoonful was a treat.
The staff was amazing, patient, funny, and caring. They made a great conversion, gentlemen (and women) to the last. Would not only highly recommend, but looking forward to visiting again on my next visit.
We had the perfect experience here on Christmas day. A cool Teddy Roosevelt themed atmosphere, their buffet was top notch, our server Fifi was amazing and overall I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience here. I would recommend this place to everyone. (especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas, just an overwhelmingly amazing selection. The food is off-the-charts-delicious)
My co-workers and I hit up this spot for happy hour. I was expecting your typical bar, but this was an elevated experience. They had many of the bar staples, but much better! The drinks and appetizers were great. Very nice ambience.
First of all let me say this bar/restaurant is quirky. Fun ambiance in honor of Teddy Roosevelt! Great cocktail menu and fun bar atmosphere! Small food portions to be shared with a very diverse menu. As a gluten sensitive person I found myself with limited options and my first order was not good because it couldn't be served with the sauce. But noticing my displeasure the manager went so over and beyond to find a meal to please my limited diet. Literally the best service of my life. My mother's pizza and cornbread were awesome (so she tell me)! Mussels satisfied me with the side of fries. He even comped the meal and got the chef to make me a flourless morsel of cake! Best service from the management staff. If you want different in D.C. This is the place for you!!
This past weekend we found ourselves lucky enough to spend quality time with Scott’s parents, though the weather was less than accommodating. Before the snow and ice took over, we made reservations for 4 at Teddy & The Bully Bar in Dupont. Having never been, we were curious as to the small plates and inviting atmosphere that we had heard so much about…
Long, lovely dinner with great food and wonderful service.
Teddy and the Bully Bar was a great choice for the Thanksgiving buffet. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding-cheers!
Highly recommend this spot! Food was hit after hit. Everything tasted great and wait time was acceptable. Myself and 2 others went for Sunday a brunch. Armondo and Melanie completed the experience with their attentiveness, kindness, and over all customer service. The waffle and omelette stations were superb! Im so happy with my experience here , good job. The price was worth it for the bottomless option, just ask for small portions so you can enjoy everything. Cant wait to return.
A nice brunch experience with great drinks. Good service with a great decor. They have a waffle, omelet and ice cream bar.
Ate here for thanksgiving since we were in town and it was fantastic! Not too expensive for DC but for us from the Midwest it may seem more. Service was fantastic and their drinks were very good.
This place is a bit special for me. I first moved here about 2.5yrs ago from NY. My new co-residents and I were looking for a good place to get drinks and food after a long shift at the hospital. Since then, this has become a regular spot for us. The bar is a wonderful place to stop and chat over very well-made drinks (my go-to is Barrel No. 2). The food from both the bar and main restaurant menus are incredibly well done and fairly priced (the braised short ribs and all their steak and pasta dishes are excellent). I've brought family, friends, and first-dates here many times and will continue to do so. Glad I live just around the corner and 1,000% recommend to anyone passing through the DuPont area!
Fantastic service and a nicely designed setting made our visit memorable. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was delicious and beautifully pretended. Would like to see more appetizers that are less like side dishes you'd have with dinner. The ladies bathroom gave me a couple of chuckles.
The food at this place was absolutely delicious! We ordered an omelet, avocado toast, chicken & waffles, and chocolate chip pancake. The mimosas are small but they have a “bottomless” option if you’re looking to have a goooooood time ;) We sat outside and the umbrellas didn’t do much while the sun was still rising, but once it was overhead it was much shadier!
I had a burger with fries along with sparkling water. the quality of service was ok. the burger was great but the fries were not that fresh. I still give them 4 stars. they have a happy hour menu, but the prices were not too different from the full menu. so, please check both menus even if you go there during their HH. happy dining! :)
Great food and service. Really friendly staff. Halal steak available and the atmosphere is quirky.
We had a bday brunch and bottomless mimosas for my daughter. Great time with family and friends ❤️ The food was delicious 😋 service was great. I will go back!
