So happy we made it to the home of the very first Mission burrito. Were it not for El Faro, we apparently might never have had what's arguably the iconic San Francisco food. Under the Same ownership since 1961, it was not too busy and service was quick and very friendly, tacos and breakfast burrito were extremely tasty. I would say it's a must-see.
The Mission Burrito supposedly was first invented at El Faro, a small restaurant on the corner of 20th and Folsom St. There, they simply call it the Super Burrito and as luck would have it, we discovered it was invented on this very day, Sept. 26th, way b
You have a lot of choices when it comes to tacquerias and breakfast burritos in the Mission! This is place has one of top three in my opinion! The eggs, oozing meat, frilled tortillas all come together very nicely with the spicy salsa. Great customer service and reasonable price. This place has been around for a long time! Must be doing something right! Yes, the breakfast burrito!
I won't say the definitive best place in SF (as there are so many) but definitely mine and my girlfriends absolute favorite. We come here every time we visit the city.
Has always had excellent food. Been going there since 70's myself. Every visit I make to SF, I definitely stop by.

Sensational! Reminds me of El faro in the upper east side on Manhattan minus there famous white lobster sauce..
I was born and raised in San Francisco and I grew up eating their amazing food when we were to tired to cook. Everything is fresh, made to order and the burritos are big! They have a large menu..alot to choose from. It's clean and has so many pictures of famous people who have eating there! Cash and credit card accepted..reasonable pricing. There is no bathroom but there is a seating area for several people and high chairs for the little kids. Raymunda was so friendly and she's been there over 36 years...she's The owner..she served us as we sat down and brought our cups..she was friendly with my children. Shelooks so young too! Rita was also very helpful and friendly when I put in my 2nd order to take to my mother. I truly miss living in San Francisco and being able to get a quick delicious burrito at El Faro! ❤❤💯👍👍
Still the best after all these years
This place has been opened as long as I can remember. Delicious food, great prices, clean, and very good customer service. I am craving for a burrito and tacos. The number spot to eat Mexican Food in San Francisco.
