I had a late lunch at La Bande during my short, overnight stay in San Francisco. I walked into the restaurant — menu unseen — and left a customer for life. Josh provided impeccable, attentive service and terrific recommendations. The tapas were on par with excellence — savory, carefully crafted bites with some pleasant surprises. Paired with a good wine or cappuccino, every part of the meal was simply delicious. I hope to be back for La Bande’s delectable bites, top-notch service, and quaint atmosphere soon.

This restaurant may be small but it will fill you up. It’s tapas style and everything I had was delicious. I went with the Chef’s choice. I said surprise me! Josh, the chef, was an excellent host. My favorite was bread with housemade aioli and housemade fermented hot sauce. Dip the bread in the oil from their shrimp dish too. Just amazing.

This place is very small than expected nevertheless it has very good small plates (tapas), they have very good selection of wine and cocktails as well. Definitely recommend for drinks and small food but not for full fledged dinner!! It’s moderately priced for SF standards!

La Bande is situated under the Proper Hotel, with the entrance on Market Street where the corner of McAllister and Jones meet. It's not the cutest neighborhood, but once you're inside you are free to enjoy yourself in an intimate space. I haven't sat in the outside area, but the inside is perfect for a date or happy hour with friends and coworkers. Food and drink are delicious! But if you come very hungry be ready to rack up a bill. Once you come, ask for Josh, and he'll take very good care of you for the night! Thank you Josh!

I had a dinner here with some friends. The food has delicious and the atmosphere was good even though it was a weekday. We had a nice night, quiet place. We wanted to go to the rooftop but it was pretty busy.

La Bande is one of the two restaurants of the Proper Hotel, which also offers a rooftop bar. We had been to the more formal – and expensive – Villon several times but this was our first visit to the more casual La Bande. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and, on an unusually hot June day in San Francisco, we decided to eat inside La Bande. The restaurant offers a variety of Spanish tapas, which you can buy by the plate. However, we decided to try the prix fixe “Menu del Dia” at $49 per person. The items are “chef’s choice”, but the waiter considered our dietary needs and made the appropriate substitutions. The drink menu is extensive, with many items available by the glass. They even offered a special Gay Pride Month cocktail on the drink card! Given the record high temperatures, I went with a Saison Dupont Belgian ale on tap, and it was perfect. My dining companion enjoyed a cold glass of Aval cider rose on tap. Our initial waiter switched from serving indoors to outdoors, but his substitute, who told us that he is a resident of the Tenderloin neighborhood, did a great job. Kudos to the management for hiring locally! The restaurant manager, Pablo, who told us that he is from the north of Spain, stopped by our table a couple of times. We appreciated his involvement with making sure that his restaurant was running smoothly. We were curious about whether a meal of tapas would be sufficiently filling and, suffice it to say, it was! La Bande is a great choice for dining if you are planning to attend a performance at the Orpheum Theatre, just one block away.
