Great drink specials (pitchers of sangria) till 7pm. The paellas were ok (lacked a bit of seasoning and tomato flavour). The salsa brava with bread was more flavourful than the Paella. The service was great. Overall is a good and affordable place for food and drinks.

Food was delish, personally I didn't love the paella but everything else was to die for! The tapas were amazing and full of flavor. Dessert was also delicious
Highly recommend, just order everything lol

Great atmosphere and good Spanish food. I recommend, especially for big groups. Few restaurants accommodate big groups.

This place is definitely now my go-to for Spanish food. It is busily fun environment. We didn't ordered alcohol but we are enjoying the party/ alehouse vibe. The food here is great especially seafood. I was blown away by the seafood platter. I thought it is gonna small but it is HUGE with so much variety of fish, shrimps and squid. The spanish ham and paella are awesome too. The price is definitely reasonable compared with the big fresh seafood portion we got. Oh and the spanish version of creme brulee. What a way to finish the meal! We will definitely visit this restaurant again!

Came on a Saturday night for dinner, made reservations the morning of. We split 5 tapas, a paella, and 2 pitchers of sangria (plus copious amounts of bread) between 5 people and we were full.
Everything was pretty good, with the octopus and the bread + sauce it came with being the best things! The paella was a bit off texturally, and didn't have as much flavor as I'd like.
The outdoor seating area out back is super nice, would come back for drinks and tapas again.

Overall it's a good place. Sangrias were decent and food was overall good. That being said, some food was little bland like paella and carne asada. Garlic octopus and garlic shrimp were great. So were the steamed mussels. Prices are honestly pretty cheap in comparison to a tapas place.

Came here on a Saturday right around happy hour. Got seated immediately. Service was fast, didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come. The food was delicious.

The food was pretty good and it’s a perfect place to bring a big group for a bday party. We went here for our friend’s bday and the food came out pretty fast and delicious. However this place is more casual so if you’re looking for something a little fancier, this might not be the place but the vibes were great and keep in mind it’s a bit loud but still enjoyed the restaurant.

We got the seafood paella (for 2, shared among 3 but it was more than enough), garlic shrimp, and calamari. All were delicious. But the best part was the oysters! If I remember correctly, they were around $2 (or less) per oyster and tasted better than the ones most oyster bars!! I would come back just for the oysters.
Service-wise it was a bit strange. The waiters were nice, but we had at least 3-4 different waiters come check in on us during our time there. At one point, we were asked if we were doing okay every 2-5 minutes so we felt like we were being rushed out even though we just received some of our dishes.

great happy hour spot serving $14 sangria pitchers until 7pm (even on a saturday!). the rest of the food was mid but well worth it for the happy hour. probably wouldn’t come back during another time.
seafood paella: pretty good but slightly bland

3.0 stars.
The only disclaimer I will make is that I only tried vegetarian tapas here. The sangria was decent though I felt it lacked the punch. The patatas were very average, the potatoes were not cooked uniformly at all. The sauce was decent though, and went great with the complimentary bread. The spinach bechamel was awful. The patata torta omelette was the only tapas which was actually tasty. The atmosphere and ambience is great though, very reminiscent of a tapas bar.

We ate here with several folks from the area. The locals like it here and you will too. The food is tasty and the service is good. They even have musicians who play songs while you eat. Clearly a Spanish flair - we enjoyed the atmosphere. And there's a great value for the dollar here. Terrific place to eat...

Picaro is located in the most iconic location.. The mission district of San Fransisco ! I loved this location the moment we came out of car. The restaurant is mostly for the city loving techies working in the zillions of start-ups in the San Fran downtown. I loved the paella , chicken and the spanish sause. I will definately go here again !

Food was pretty decent but service was awful. Worst I've ever had in San Francisco. Waitstaff needs to be way more friendly and less hostile. I'd like to think I'm generally understanding with waitstaff but this was just ridiculous. You could get way better service and food somewhere else.

I'll tell you what:. I have lived in Spain for three years, but I didn't need to in order to know that this was just not that great of a restaurant. The flavors were undeveloped, with the exception of the romesco dipping sauce. Broths were watery and all else just tasted like a ton of butter and salt. The manchego cheese was lame. It's inexpensive, sure, but worth paying a bit more for some well-executed tapas.

Just okay. We went to this restaurant because the other two tapas restaurants were too full. Getting a table here was a snap.
+good service
+tasted very good
+price
-several bones in the paella
-Mariachi band played a LOT near our table and then stood right in front of us and played until we tipped them. I found that especially annoying because we were there to talk w family we hadn't seen in more than a year.
