Visiting San Francisco from out of town and was lucky enough that they were open on December 25th! Locals walking by couldn't believe their eyes and would immediately line up. They told me that since the pandemic, they have opened just occasionally, there's not a schedule and no one really knows when they'll serve. Some updates in Google maps say it is permanently closed but it isn't. We got ours and they were so freshly baked that they were hot and still steaming! The most perfect tarts ever, giggly, not too sweet, perfectly golden crust. Heaven in your mouth. If you're lucky enough to be there when they are open, make sure to have cash with you.

It looked closed but it’s open!! We were confused by the closed gate at first. When you walk by, there are 2 ladies who open the glass door and ask you what you want. It’s cash only but there is a chase across the street. We got some egg tarts— they were warm and fresh and some of the best I’ve ever had! It seems a little sketchy but this hole in the wall bakery is definitely worth a visit

This little store is running such a small business that they do not even open the gate. An elder lady stand by the glass door and take the cash and bring you good stuff - sounds like a drug dealer behavior. Although the $3.5 per tart is anything but cheap, the queue is always there and they sold out quickly. So, worth a try if you find they are randomly open.

I get why the lines were down the block! A light. flaky, laminated crust makes for a crispy bite tempered beautifully by the light, fluffy, eggy custard filling. Gone in no time and makes you wish you got another (or more)!

Great egg tart! Although the hours may be inconsistent, very worth the wait. If you see them open, stop and grab a few for the road. Looking forward to trying their moon cakes next time.

We caught Golden Gate open, yay! We at first thought the bakery was closed but spotted a friendly face through the doorway from across the street so we crossed. A family told us the business was closed as they walked by while we were walking up. Undeterred, we were delighted to see that you were open and a crowd began to gather behind us as they noticed our interaction. The moon cakes were amazingly delicious, of course! We will be back 😋

We just happened to be nearby when they opened which was lucky, but we still had to wait 30 min. Their mooncakes are humongous which is nice considering they’re $11-12 each. Tried to get a 4 yolk but they were out, so settled for a 1 and 2 yolk. White lotus was a tasty flavor, they also had some random nuts inside (macadamia?) which was a nice contrast.

The line moves quickly and the ladies behind the counter were very sweet. The egg tarts must be of a superior quality as people stand in a long line for them. I expected them to taste "custardy" or flan-like which they do not. The taste of egg is very strong if you have not tasted them before.

Chinese pastry delights. The eggs tarts are really good. The soft and had a very smooth texture with a fluffy crust. Ordered the sesame ball and the custard puff too. Sesame ball was okay, can give it a miss if you have tried it before. Custard puff was good but nothing to wow about. Queue can be about 10 mins when at it extends to the next stall.
