From the beginning it was a friendly, welcoming environment. There was a line out the door as befits a bakery this good, but it moved very quickly. We came in deciding to pig out and get 3 baked goods, but honestly had a hard time narrowing it down to just 3. Next time I want to try the bread pudding and a croissant, but I was very happy with the opera cake lemon tart. But the real standout was the morning bun. It seems to be the most popular item, and for good reason. It was more flaky than anything has a right to be, and covered with delicious cinnamon and sugar. For a bonus, they were playing very good music loud enough for me to appreciate but not loud enough to bother my partner. And considering how much food can cost in San Francisco, the price was very good as well.

Does anyone not love this place? It is amazing. If they decided to make gruel I'm sure it would also be amazing. I had an almond frangipane and a corn & pepper quiche. They were both glorious. The quince was fluffy yet melty. I am munching on the granola I brought home and while I am wishing it was the frangipane, but it is delightful in its own right as well. Don't think about it. Never mind the line. Just go. You won't regret it.

This is a cute and small bakery located in San Fransisco where they mainly serve croissants, cold and hot sandwiches and desserts such as tarts, cakes, and pies. This was my first time experience and I absolutely loved it! I ordered their spicy turkey sandwich (which wasn't spicy) which was served with a pickled carrot. It tasted delicious and was filling. The cafe also has paintings hung on walls which can be purchased. The cafe seems to be quite popular with the youth, they can be seen hanging out with their friends over a cup of coffee. Highly recommend if you're visiting!

Ordered a Frangipane Croissant. This had an almond cream filling and brandy. You can taste the smooth brandy in there and the buttery (sometimes crispy) flakiness of the exterior. Cute shop with very delicious looking pastries and fragrant fresh goods. Very quick line as they help you get your order ready. Seating fills up quickly and is very busy, still calm enough to carry a quiet conversation. Employees are friendly and corner location is convenient to find just a few blocks away from Dolores Park.

I visited on Tuesday after Thanksgiving at 2 PM, and there was nobody in line! Completely unheard of. I’ve been maybe 10 times, and this time I finally got to see the ease, beauty of all the pastries and the kind, hip people behind the counter

One of the best bakeries in town. Their Morning Bun is the best. Great cake options. Unfortunately they run out of sourdough bread very fast, i could not get any by 1 pm. Staff was very nice. They have great coffee options too.

Came here twice during our one week visit to California. Loved their croissants, Croque, and coffee. The service line is long but goes very fast. Super attentive staff and nice! Don’t forget to try their egg sandwich too - Out of this world!

Baked bread and pastries mecca with a well deserved reputation for exceptional quality. The croissants are out of this world and pretty much exceed anything Europe has to offer. The ham and cheese croissant is superb with real French Gruyère cheese and applewood ham in generous quantity that almost make a complete meal. Best I’ve had in the last 40 years, and devoured 2 for a thorough analysis. Chocolate croissants are elegantly laced with 2 bars of Valhrona semisweet chocolate that offer a rich confectionary taste bud experience. Yep - ate one of those too on-site. These perfectly flakey, multilayered, buttery pastries were accompanied by a delicious cafe latte expertly prepared by Aaron who patiently listened to how I wanted it prepared while smiling kindly - and delivered a home run. Aaron pushed the service rating into 5 stars as the other employees provided average level experience. The premises are cramped, lines are long, parking difficult. Would I go back - you bet your applewood! Thank goodness I purchased 6 more to take home as writing this review caused my stomach to growl and dig into the bag. Too bad Aaron doesn’t do house calls. Vive Tartine!

Very expensive but good bakery. Expected a little more, but certainly had a good time. The quiche and the egg sandwich ended up being better than some of the other item we purchased. Long lines, but worth a visit if only once.

I really enjoyed the pastries from this bakery especially the morning bun which was amazing. We also had the lemon tart which was good - a little expensive for a small tart, but thats on par for places in SF. It was pretty busy when we went, but the line moved quickly. Not a lot of room to sit, but they do have tables outside as well. Definitely stop by for a morning bun

After having started my own sourdough journey with Tartine's cookbook, I was excited to try their bread in person! I opted for simply bread and butter and it was absolutely phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to serve 2-3 thicker slices rather than 4 thin slices. After toasting, I wasn't able to enjoy a soft+chewy crumb I was hoping for.

Came for morning breakfast. Luckily the line was not long and there was seating outside. We got the Banana Chocolate Tart (MUST TRY) and their turkey croque monsieur with latte. I would say pass on the coffee, there are better options within walking distance (Four Barrel and Ritual). It was amazing baked goods for a gloomy morning!
