My lady and I tried Abbey’s out for the first time today and we were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the quality of food, and with the service from Mark. He added a real personal touch to the experience. We got the Sampler Platter #1, which comes with brisket (bomb), ribs (dynamite), 1/4 chicken (out of this world), and pulled pork (to-die-for), with the Caesar salad and rice & beans sides. Each cut of meat was cooked incredibly well; the smoke ring on the brisket was perfect, the pork and chicken were succulent without being underdone, and the ribs literally fell off the bone. The service from the owner, Mark, and his staff were top notch. Everyone was friendly and talkative, and Mark came around table-to-table offering warm conversation with us patrons. 10/10, will definitely be coming back soon.

Long post alert ❗❗ Let me start off by saying service makes food taste better always. I came in this evening on 07Dec23 at 6pm and was immediately greeted by 2 or 3 different people. The place was empty with a group right ahead of me ordering as I walked in. Lots of TVs with sports. Lots of big tables and long tables they'll even push some together if you have a big enough crowd. I asked the cashier what was the best way to try everything on the menu (meat wise) and she happily answered sampler #1 and explained what came with it. I didn't even bother looking at the price and ordered my sides and was asked if I wanted sauce on the side or smothered in top. Thank you for asking that. I paid for my order which was 44.80$ with a drink plus tip of 5$ came out to 50$ for a sampler that includes two ribs, 3 pieces of brisket, one chicken breast with a wing attached and pulled pork with a side of seasoned yellow rice and BBQ beans and Texas toast. You could split it with someone. I didn't. Got my drink at the drink station where metal cutlery is available along with plastic straws, salt and pepper but no napkins(they are provided on the plate) Went to the restroom which was very clean and routinely well kept. Even the sink had a spout in the right place to the drain (bonus points) ever wash your hands somewhere and hit the back wall of the sink because the spout is too short... Yea think about that one. Came out and my food was ready! Awesome, wasn't expecting it that quick. The plate was enormous. Both my sides were in two cups with all the various meats placed around with sauce on top. Even the plate was shaped like a pig. Let's dig in. I am partial to smoked meats because I smoke them myself but have always wanted to try this place since I live so close. Texas toast is crunchy not soggy. Fountain drink is great lots of variety. Brisket was so soft you can cut with a fork not much smoke flavoring but over all very good bite and seasoning the sauce adds a good bit of depth as well. Pulled pork was soft almost mushy but NOT DRY not much smoke flavor either, wish there was more sauce but you can always ask for more because the staff is so attentive about how the food is and if anything else is needed. Ribs were soft not fall off the bone but enjoyable. Relatively small for what you pay for but this came on the platter and not individually as another main meal so I'll assume there are bigger pieces around. Chicken was average. Nice coloring on the outside but not much flavor on the inside. It's hard to make chicken taste good smoked unless you are brining everything and that's a lot of work. Still edible but on the dryer side. This was the only thing I did not finish or take home. Sides Yellow rice great BBQ pinto beans were great I mixed the rice and pulled pork together that was a good mixture. All in all a great meal for the price. There's a lot that goes into the smoking meat and I left feeling satisfied and ultimately full. I will be back to try more when I don't feel like sitting by the fire for 18+ hours. I would add if you are expecting great smokey flavor then lower your expectations like I did because San Diego probably can't handle the smoke. Pretty sure this place is using cherry wood but I could be wrong so it's going to be light but flavorful enough to enjoy. I enjoyed this place over smoking j's (serpentine cider location) and grand ole bbq(North Park) the pulled pork at both of those places are dryer than the Sahara in July.

Native Texan and this place reminded me of home. The owner is a 2nd generation pit master and very knowledgeable. The brisket was so juicy and tender. It’s so refreshing to sit down in a clean and cozy environment. The owner is super friendly and proud to be doing what he is doing. He is super passionate about his craft. Worth every penny you will ever spend here! Will definitely be back in the very near future!

I was in this restaurant for the first time, as in many others, but it was this restaurant that I remember because two people patiently worked with me during the order. yes, yes, they worked, because I did not understand what they were explaining to me))) because of my English and terminology. but as a result these kind people were very patient and did everything in the best way, asking me to trust them) and this decision was cool) I got an incredible combination of salad and meat in barbecue sauce, which sated my body gently and gently. and while I was eating, these wonderful guys came up to me and asked with concern whether everything was fine, whether everything was to my liking. and it was very cute and makes them even more credible! the food was divine, the restaurant is filled with blues music and a relaxing environment, just what I needed!!! I wish this place to grow and develop! Well, of course I will come here again!

Consistently good barbecue. Texas BBQ. open at 11 AM, and there is an immediate line. The meats are good quality and cooked to tender deliciousness. The Mac Salad is tasty and the Mac still had a bite to it.

That good Ole Texas bbq in the best state 😉 Had to grab the No. 1 sampler! Beef brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken, yellow rice, and of course baked beans... 9/10 The cornbread was not the best... The burnt ends were the absolute best part of all of this! I probably could eat plates of this goodness!! 10/10 Make sure you check them out!!

Went here on a recommendation from my boss and boy am I glad I made the drive. The staff was friendly and helpful. Spoke to the owner a bit as well, very nice guy. The food was sooooo good. Probably the best wings I have ever had the Carolina Tangy Gold Sauce needs to be purchasable online cause it was delicious. The meat platter I got was also very good. The brisket was so tender and the bbq sauce that came with was also really food. Tried the cornbread and that was dope. Tried the cream soda (local craft) and it was awesome. Loved my visit there and am sad I live out of state and cant go back again.

Unlocked a new amazing place that amazed us many ways. Great BBQ and Great Service! Owned and operated by the same family for 42 years and it is obvious that son is committed to keep the consistency of service and quality of food. We will for sure be back! Must try spot in San Diego

Delicious BBQ! A mix of Texas and Kansas City BBQ styles, but delicious. The appetizer links and the smothered BBQ fries were so good. You get to choose the meat on top of the fries, I chose brisket. The cornbread is like butter! So darn good. Family friendly.

This family-owned establishment brings an authentic Texas-style experience to San Diegans. I tried some of their specialties- 🍟Fries 🍔Chicken sandwich ❇️Fried okra 🍗Smoked and flash fried Chicken wings 🌯Chicken wrap 🥗Cold slaw 🥖Texas Toast 🌽Cornbread All of their meats are slow cooked on site in cast iron smokers.
