We arrived at Happy Hour. It was tough to say no to beer deals they had. Pole was done and ready by the time we finished ordering. We were able to capitalize on a chef special roll of the day. Some is to be said about finding a way to make you feel special as a customer and this place totally does just that. We sat down outside and had a fresh lil breeze that made it delightful. Maybe next time it’s a beer and a hand roll ;)
Amazingly fresh, very high-quality raw fish in my Poké bowl. All the other ingredients and sauces were perfect as well. The staff were semi rude, though. It was my first time there and they made me feel like I was stupid for not knowing how they're pricing works (which is different than many poke places). But I'll be back regardless! It's that good
Fish Face came recommended by a friend. She mentioned it is opened by the same owner from Kru (which I still need to stop by at).
We ordered:
1 classic kohaku (half sushi rice/half salad) $21.50: tuna/scallop
-large 3/4 pound
1 yuzu albacore (half sushi rice / half salad) $12
-small 1/4 pound
1 rainbow hand roll $5.75
1 spam and tamago musubi $4
The small is a bit too small, so value probably isn't there. Rainbow handroll was ok. I highly enjoyed the spam and tamago!
Indoor dining is available. Not a bad spot to get your poke fix in!
Street parking only.
There is a magical octopus here that watches over all, the staff prepping the fish, the staff taking orders and making dishes, and the customers who come to be nourished. You will understand if you just trust the cephalopod.
Specific stuff I like/love: simple sea salt and chili oil on any protein over rice. You are also right to avoid rice and go island style, but I'm in the stage of life that says seasoned rice is always ok. Wasabi sauce is great, too.
Protein thoughts: their scottish salmon is righteous. But yellowtail is such a great poke fish, way under appreciated in my view. If you are adventurous try the local farmed sturgeon, so unique and interesting.
OK, that's all. Love my Fish Face Poke Bar
Really delicious, really fresh, and a variety of options. I was slightly disappointed in the amount I received for the price I paid, and what’s worse is that each topping costs extra. So you end up with a $15 costing more than $20 if you want more than just fish in there. It is really good though.
I had the tostadas, one of each protein option. They were absolutely delicious I definitely recommend it!! Will be returning, cute space very social environment
Fresh, amazing, delicious food and great service. Try the poke tostada, it’s lovely! The classic Kohaku is not only delicious but has enough protein and fills you up. My daughter had the miso soup and dumplings which she enjoyed and at a great price-good option for kids. The masubi absolutely delicious if you just want a bite with your beer. They have happy hour every day from 3-6pm!!
Super fresh, super delicious. My favorite poke place in Sacramento. Only downside is that the prices are a little high for the amount you get, but I'm happy to pay it since the quality is so good.
Normally, love this place. Hadn't been in awhile and just went on Monday at 12:45pm and they were closed down even though it says 11am open. Bummed.
Good variety, fresh fish friendly staff. Tables were dirty and the wait a little long but overall had a healthy meal for my family and I
